Fort Schlosser was a fortification built in Western New York in the United States around 1760 by British colonial forces, in order to guard the upper entrance to the portage around Niagara Falls, north of Porter-Barton Dock or Schlosser's Landing along the shoreline with the Niagara River. The fort was named for its first commander, Captain Joseph Schlosser of the Royal American Regiment of Foot, a practice that was common in the British Army.

Navy Island is a small, uninhabited island in the Niagara River in the province of Ontario, managed by Parks Canada as a National Historic Site of Canada. It is located about 4.5 kilometres (2+3⁄4 miles) upstream from Horseshoe Falls, and has an area of roughly 1.2 km2 (7⁄16 sq mi). It is across from the town of Grand Island, New York, US. It was designated a national historic site in 1921 in recognition of its role in shipbuilding and the location of the short-lived Republic of Canada.[1] The island is the only island in the Niagara River located within Canadian territory and is the second largest Island in the Niagara River. The site is closed to the public, has no visitor facilities, and has not allowed camping since the expiration of a lease with the Niagara Parks Commission.[2]

Niagara Falls is a city in Niagara County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 48,671. It is adjacent to the Niagara River, across from the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and named after the famed Niagara Falls which they share. The city is within the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area and the Western New York region. While the city was formerly inhabited by Native Americans, Europeans who migrated to the Niagara Falls in the mid-17th century began to open businesses and develop infrastructure. Later in the 18th and 19th centuries, scientists and businessmen began harnessing the power of the Niagara River for electricity and the city began to attract manufacturers and other businesses drawn by the promise of inexpensive hydroelectric power. After the 1960s, however, the city and region witnessed an economic decline, following an attempt at urban renewal under then Mayor Lackey. Consistent with the rest of the Rust Belt as industries left the city, old line affluent families relocated to nearby suburbs and out of town. Despite the decline in heavy industry, Niagara Falls State Park and the downtown area closest to the falls continue to thrive as a result of tourism. The population, however, has continued to decline from a peak of 102,394 in the 1960s due to the loss of manufacturing jobs in the area.

The Republic of Canada was a government proclaimed by William Lyon Mackenzie on December 5, 1837. The self-proclaimed government was established on Navy Island in the Niagara River in the latter days of the Upper Canada Rebellion.

Navy Island Royal Naval Shipyard was a Royal Navy yard in Ontario. Located on Navy Island in the Niagara River, it served as a French naval base in the early 18th century and was acquired by the British in 1763. The Royal Navy used it for their Lake Erie fleet during the War of 1812. Abandoned by the navy with the passage of the Rush-Bagot Treaty in 1817, it was formally acquired by Canada in 1822. It is now a National Historic site and managed by the Niagara Parks Commission. Sal Maglie Stadium is a stadium in Niagara Falls, New York. It is primarily used for baseball and is currently the home of the Niagara Power (PGCBL) baseball team.The ballpark has a capacity of 4,000 people and opened in 1939. Its original name was simply Hyde Park Stadium, and was originally designed primarily for football. It was adapted for baseball in the 1950s and was rebuilt as a proper baseball facility in 1999. In mid-season 1983 it was renamed for Niagara Falls native and former major league player Sal Maglie, who played college ball for Niagara.Professional clubs occupying the site over the years included the Buffalo Bisons (1967–1968), of the International League, as a temporary escape from the deteriorating War Memorial Stadium in Buffalo; the Niagara Falls Pirates (1970–1979), later called Niagara Falls Sox (1982–1985), Tigers (1989) and Rapids (1989–1993), of the New York–Penn League; and Mallards (1995), of the North Atlantic League. The stadium is now home to the Niagara University Purple Eagles Club Baseball team. In the team's first year at the stadium, they won their division title (going 15–2). Sal Maglie Stadium is located within Hyde Park, on the east side of Hyde Park Boulevard. Robbins Drive bounds the ballpark on the east (right field) side and crosses Gill Creek, which forms the south (first base) boundary of the grounds. Beyond left field are softball and little league diamonds and Linwood Avenue. In 2023, the city of Niagara Falls struck agreements with Niagara County Community College and D'Youville University to host their college baseball squads at the facility beginning with the 2024 season. The agreement also calls for the two colleges to establish "nine-week fall ball sessions" beginning in fall 2023 in an effort to make the stadium a "year-round destination."

Christ the Saviour Monastery, also known as Christminster, is a Benedictine monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR) in Hamilton, Canada. The monastery is an institution of Western Rite Orthodoxy.

Former Niagara Falls High School is a historic high school located at Niagara Falls in Niagara County, New York, USA. It was built in 1923 and added to the existing gymnasium structure, and designed by local architect Simon Larke, who also designed the James G. Marshall House. The original structure is in the Neoclassical revival style. An addition was constructed in 1963.The building was threatened with demolition in late 2000, but was spared and is currently used as the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center. The multi-arts center features over 60 artist studios, two galleries, two theaters, a certified sound stage and movie production facility, the Niagara Falls High School alumni center and a café and gift shop. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Hyde Park is a municipal park in Niagara Falls, New York. It is the largest city park in New York outside of Manhattan, and is located along Hyde Park Boulevard (NY 61).

The North Grand Island Bridge is a pair of twin two-lane truss arch bridges spanning the Niagara River between Grand Island and Niagara Falls in New York, United States. Each bridge carries one direction of Interstate 190 (I-190). Both crossings are operated by the New York State Thruway Authority as part of the Niagara Thruway. The northbound span opened in 1935; the southbound span was finished in 1964.A southbound-only toll is presently collected via open-road cashless tolling. The open-road tolling began operating on March 29, 2018, replacing conventional toll booths which were on Grand Island The tollbooths were dismantled, and drivers are no longer able to pay cash at the bridge. Instead, drivers will travel beneath an overhead gantry where their E-ZPass transponder will be detected and charged. Drivers without an E-ZPass will have a picture of their license plate taken, and the toll will be mailed to them.

The Battle of Chippawa, also known as the Battle of Chippewa, was a victory for the United States Army in the War of 1812, during its invasion on July 5, 1814, of the British Empire's colony of Upper Canada along the Niagara River. This battle and the subsequent Battle of Lundy's Lane demonstrated that trained American troops could hold their own against British regulars. The battlefield is preserved as a National Historic Site of Canada.

The Hyde Park Golf Club plays out of the Hyde Park Golf Course in Niagara Falls, NY. The Club was formed in 1938. The Golf Course was the original site of the 1901 Niagara Falls Country Club.
