The Missouri Crematory (also known as Hillcrest Abbey Crematory and Mausoleum, Missouri Crematory and Columbarium and Valhalla Hillcrest Abbey Crematory) was the sixth modern crematory built in the United States and holds the distinction of being the first crematory built west of the Mississippi River. The crematory is located at 3211 Sublette Avenue in St. Louis, just across from the State Mental Hospital off of Arsenal Street. Now called "Valhalla's Hillcrest Abbey" it is owned by the Zell Family, who also own the Valhalla Chapel and Memorial Park on St. Charles Rock Road.

Bel-Nor is a northwestern suburban city of St. Louis in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,499 as of the 2010 census. In April 2015, the residents of Bel-Nor voted to become a city.

Incarnate Word Academy is a Roman Catholic, private, secondary school for women. The school is sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. The school is located in Bel-Nor, a suburb of St. Louis, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

Hanley Hills is a village in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,101 at the 2010 census.

St. Vincent's Hospital was a Catholic hospital in Normandy, Missouri. In 1858, the Sisters of Charity founded St. Vincent's Sanitarium for those with nervous and mental diseases. The hospital was located on St. Vincent's Lane north of St. Charles Rock Road; it is the current home of the Castle Park Apartments. It opened in August 1858 at Ninth and Marion Streets in St. Louis with four patients and fifteen sisters. In 1895, the home relocated to St. Vincent's Lane (the current Castle Park Drive), up a hilltop from the Rock Road in St. Louis County. This massive, castle-like building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1930 U.S. Census lists 357 individuals. The home was in part financed by the patients' fees. By 1941, the home was operated by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul for the treatment of mental and nervous disorders as well as selected cases of alcoholism and drug addiction. The home remained in existence until the 1980s. The census collection consists of three record books of the St. Vincent's Institution for the Insane: cash ledger, 1858–1867; contracts of obligations for patients, 1859–circa 1890; and record of doctors' prescriptions for patients, 1901–1904.

Marillac College was a Catholic sisters' college in St. Louis, Missouri. Like other sisters' colleges, it was dedicated to the education of future nuns and other religious workers, though it was also open to members of the laity. It closed in 1974.

Vinita Terrace was a village in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 277 at the 2010 census.Voters of both Vinita Park and neighboring Vinita Terrace voted on November 8, 2016, to consolidate into one municipality to be called the City of Vinita Park. The merger took effect May 10, 2017.

UMSL–South station is a St. Louis MetroLink station. This station serves the primarily academic South Campus of the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL). It features 130 park and ride spaces.In 2023, the United States Department of Agriculture announced it would build a $115 million food safety laboratory next to the station on the site of the former Immaculate Heart Convent. It is expected to open in 2025.

The St. Louis Mercantile Library, founded in 1846 in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, was originally established as a membership library, and is the oldest extant library west of the Mississippi River. Since 1998 the library has been housed at the University of Missouri-St. Louis as a Special Collections library within the Thomas Jefferson Library. The majority of library materials can be assigned to one of four categories: the General (Core) Collection, the John W. Barriger Railroad Library, the Herman T. Pott National Inland Waterways Library, or the Art Museum. The collections of the St. Louis Mercantile Library have been named a City Landmark by the city of St. Louis, Mo., due to the cultural significance of the library.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) is a public research university in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Established in 1963, it is the newest of the four universities in the University of Missouri System. Located on the former grounds of Bellerive Country Club, the university's campus stretches into the municipalities of Bellerive, Bel-Nor and Normandy. Additional facilities are located at the former site of Marillac College and at Grand Center, both in St. Louis city. Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral programs are offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Administration, the College of Education, the College of Nursing, the School of Social Work, and the College of Optometry. The business school is AACSB-accredited and is the only public university in the St. Louis area to also be AACSB-accredited in accounting. Preprofessional, a joint engineering program with Washington University in St. Louis, and evening programs are also offered. UMSL is home of an optometry school, providing its students with a doctorate (OD). The Pierre Laclede Honors College is UMSL's honors program. UMSL is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity".The university contains two libraries: The Thomas Jefferson Library which is the main library of the university and the St. Louis Mercantile Library which was founded in 1846 and is the oldest library west of the Mississippi River. The campus contains two stops on MetroLink, St. Louis' regional light rail system. A student center, academic buildings, parking structures, a performing arts center, and residential housing have been constructed over the past ten years as part of campus improvement programs. The university has a dual-enrollment agreement with the Gulf University for Science and Technology, Kuwait. KWMU (90.7 FM), which is the flagship National Public Radio station in the St. Louis area and known on-air as St. Louis Public Radio, is owned by and licensed to UMSL. UMSL has 10,431 students attending classes on-campus, compared to 6,010 students taking classes off-campus, which is mostly students dual-enrolled at area high schools. The university has the equivalent of 9,488 full-time students. UMSL has historically been a commuter school for the St. Louis, with only about 1200 students living on-campus.
