St Francis Xavier's College Hamilton is a Catholic secondary school located within the suburb of Hamilton, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Founded in 1985 by the Marist Brothers as a Year 7-10 boys high school, the school is now co-educational and offers a variety of subjects to students in Year Eleven and Twelve. The school's enrolment was about 850 in 1986 and exceeded 1,000 for the first time in 1994. The school's motto, "Christus Lux Mea", is Latin for "Christ My Light". The school primarily accepts enrolments from surrounding junior Catholic high schools in the area, including San Clemente, Mayfield and St Pius X. Until 2018, the college also provided Year 11 and 12 for students enrolled at St Mary's High School. The school has four houses: Champagnat (named after Marcellin Champagnat), Dominic (named after Saint Dominic), MacKillop (named after Mary Mackillop) and McAuley (named after Catherine McAuley).

Castlemaine Brewery is a heritage-listed former brewery and museum and now serviced apartments at 787 Hunter Street, Newcastle West, City of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by Oswald Lewis and built from 1874 to 1876 by Laing and Wylie under supervising architect G. H. Cox. It was later used as the Pink Elephant Markets and as the Newcastle Museum before being redeveloped as the Quest Newcastle West serviced apartments. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Located in the inner Newcastle suburb of Wickham, it is to the west of the former Wickham station. The railway station opened 15 October 2017 with light rail services commencing on 17 February 2019.

It fulfilled this role until Newcastle Interchange opened on 15 October 2017.

Wickham railway station is a former railway station which was located in the Newcastle suburb of Wickham, New South Wales. Situated on the Newcastle railway line, it was serviced by Central Coast & Newcastle Line and Hunter Line services until its closure. Wickham, along with Civic station, succeeded Honeysuckle station, which was closed in 1872, following its own replacement by Newcastle station. Following urban growth in the Newcastle region, both Wickham and Civic were opened to meet the growing demand for public transport in the region. The station's signal box, located at the station's western end at Stewart Avenue, was replaced in the 1960s with a building recognised as Australia's first television-equipped level crossing. Plans to truncate the Newcastle railway line put the future of the station in doubt in the early 21st century, and despite upgrades to the station in 2007, a newly elected government in 2011 committed to the redevelopment of Newcastle's urban developments and public transport network, including the truncation of the Newcastle line past Stewart Avenue. The station was closed as a result, in December 2014, to make way for a redeveloped Wickham station and transport interchange, along with a new light rail network. The station structure was demolished in May 2017 to make way for the new light rail depot to be situated on the site.

The 2007 New South Wales storms started on 8 June 2007 following the development of an intense east coast low pressure system during the previous night. Over the next 36 hours these areas were battered by the system's strong winds and torrential rain, which caused extensive flooding, damage, loss of life and the grounding of a 225 m (738 ft) long bulk carrier.

The Electoral district of Counties of Murray and St Vincent was an electorate of the New South Wales Legislative Council at a time when some of its members were elected and the balance were appointed by the Governor. It was a new electorate created in 1851 by the expansion of the Legislative Council to 54, 18 to be appointed and 36 elected. The district consisted of the rural areas of Murray County, which had previously been part of Counties of Murray, King and Georgiana, and St Vincent County, which had previously been part of Counties of St Vincent and Auckland. The towns of Braidwood and Queanbeyan were not part of the district, being included in Southern Boroughs.In 1856 the unicameral Legislative Council was abolished and replaced with an elected Legislative Assembly and an appointed Legislative Council. The district was represented by the Legislative Assembly electorate of United Counties of Murray and St Vincent.
