The Edward C. Waller Apartments are located from 2840 to 2858 W. Walnut Street in Chicago, Illinois. They were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1895 and named after Edward C. Waller, a prominent Chicago developer after the 1871 fire. Waller and Wright collaborated on the Waller apartments and the Francisco Terrace apartments to execute Waller's pioneering idea of subsidizing lower income housing. Each apartment was designed with a parlor, chamber (bedroom), dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and closets.Some of the oldest buildings to be used for subsidized housing in Chicago, they received Chicago Landmark status on March 2, 1994.

The Lindemann and Hoverson Company Showroom and Warehouse is a historic industrial building at 2620 W. Washington Boulevard in the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The Lindemann and Hoverson Company, which manufactured heaters, stoves, and electric kitchen tools, built the building in 1924. Architect Paul Gerhardt, Sr., designed the industrial loft; while such buildings were often plain structures, his design is more formal and includes ornamentation. The building's showroom section, which encompasses the first two floors on the west side, is clad with a terra cotta section which features pilasters and a frieze. The remainder of the building has a brick exterior, though it includes terra cotta medallions and a cornice. Lindemann and Hoverson occupied the building until 1941.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 26, 2008.

Humboldt Park, one of 77 designated community areas, is on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. The Humboldt Park neighborhood is known for its dynamic social and ethnic demographic change over the years. The Puerto Rican community has identified strongly with the area since the 1970s; Humboldt Park is also the name of a 207-acre (0.8 km²) park adjacent to the community area.

East Garfield Park is on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois, west of the Loop. Taking its name from the large urban park, Garfield Park, the neighborhood is bordered by Franklin Boulevard on the north, Arthington and Taylor Streets on the south, Hamlin Avenue and Independence Boulevard to the west, and Rockwell Street to the east.

The E-Z Polish Factory (built 1905) is the only factory building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is located in Chicago, Illinois, United States at 3005 West Carroll Avenue. The E-Z Polish Company made polish for shoes and stoves. The building now serves as practice space for local bands and artists. The factory was at one point forgotten as a Wright design. In 1939, architectural historian Grant Carpenter Manson was writing his Harvard doctoral dissertation and followed a clue that the factory was located somewhere along the Galena division of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. Manson rode back and forth on the line until he located the factory.The structure was an exercise in concrete construction technique. It is one of the least decorative designs of Wright's career.Wright's original design for the factory included an elaborate scheme for an open court between side wings at the rear. The plans for the court were found at Taliesin but were never executed.The company was owned by William E. Martin of Oak Park and Darwin D. Martin of Buffalo, New York. Wright also designed the William E. Martin House in 1902.

The Chicago Center for Green Technology was a 34,000-square-foot (3,200 m2) US Green Building Council LEED Platinum certified building located on a plot of 17 acres (69,000 m2) in Chicago's East Garfield Park Community built to showcase green technologies. This was the first municipal and brownfield site to win a LEED Platinum award. This project was completed as part of Mayor Richard M. Daley's Chicago Brownfield Initiative (CBI). The center offered workshops focusing on green technology and sustainable design, a green building resource center, and self-guided or guided tours to visitors.The center ceased operations in October 2014, though building tenants remained. California is an abandoned rapid transit station in the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is located in the median of the Eisenhower Expressway, The station served the Chicago Transit Authority's Congress Line, which is now part of the Blue Line. California opened on June 22, 1958, and closed on September 2, 1973, as part of a group of budget-related CTA station closings.

Phoenix Military Academy is a public military high school in Chicago Illinois, United States.

West Town Academy is a part of Greater West Town Community Development Project, a communitarian non-profit organization working toward development on the West Side of Chicago. The school originated as a GED program aimed at Chicago high school dropouts. It became a fully state-certified high school in 1998 and has been retrieving "disenrolled" minority students from the Chicago Public Schools system through its association as a campus of Youth Connection Charter School. It also operates as an independent high school through the enrollment of students who are wards of the court and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. This situation makes West Town Academy both a public and private school simultaneously. The school and its parent agency have hosted many local, statewide and national politicians. Then newly elected state senator Barack Obama was the commencement speaker for the class of 2000. Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Illinois governors Rod Blagojevich and Pat Quinn, and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner have all used it as a podium to make policy statements. Democratic presidential candidate Senator John Kerry and then candidate for the U.S. Senate from Illinois Obama held a campaign event in its original location during the 2004 campaign. The school was founded by William Leavy, who is also director of its parent organization, The school moved to its new location, 534 N Sacramento, Chicago, IL, in June 2010.

Western Avenue is the name of a railroad station owned by Metra, located in the West Town community area of Chicago, Illinois near Western Avenue. The station is 2.9 miles (4.7 km) away from Union Station, the inbound terminus of the line. Western Avenue station serves the Milwaukee District West Line, North Central Service, and Milwaukee District North Line, and is the last inbound stop for these three lines before the terminus at Union Station. Although it is not a station stop, Amtrak trains also pass through here. The station was previously used by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. Located near the station are the California Coach Yard, and the Western Avenue Rail Yard, the latter of which host to Metra's final EMD F40Cs. Just southeast of the station platforms is a diamond where the Milwaukee Road Metra routes cross the tracks of the Union Pacific West Line to Ogilvie Transportation Center, then turn to run parallel to them. This goes on for about a mile before they split, as the West Line tracks continue to Ogilvie. The junction is controlled by the nearby A-2 tower. As of 2018, Western Avenue is the 61st busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 836 weekday boardings.On the MD-North Line, as of 2022, Western Avenue is served by all 19 inbound trains and 18 outbound trains on weekdays, by all 10 trains in both directions on Saturdays, and by all nine trains in both directions on Sundays. On the MD-West Line, as of 2022, Western Avenue is served by all 20 trains in each direction on weekdays, by all 12 trains in each direction on Saturdays, and by all nine trains in each direction on Sundays. On the North Central Service, as of 2022, Western Avenue is served by all six trains in each direction on weekdays.

Kedzie is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, serving the Green Line and the East Garfield Park neighborhood. It opened in March 1894, and is three blocks south of Metra's Kedzie station on the Union Pacific/West Line. It is also near the Chicago Center for Green Technology.
