Queenstown Public Library is one of the 26 public libraries established by the National Library Board of Singapore. It was the first full-time Branch Library to be built by the National Library in its plan to decentralise home reading services. It pioneered several firsts amongst Branch Libraries, including becoming the first fully air-conditioned Branch in 1978, computerising its loan services in 1987, and lending video cassettes in 1997. It was refurbished in 2003. The building plans were approved by Mrs Hedwig Anuar, the then-Director of the National Library. Building construction began in November 1968 and with its completion, the building was handed over to the National Library on 26 December 1969. It is currently the oldest library in Singapore after the original National Library at Stamford Road was torn down, the first of 26 under the National Library Board (NLB) to be preserved as announced on 25 July 2014 and was gazetted for conservation under the Urban Redevelopment Authority's Master Plan 2014, as part of the medium-term physical development of Singapore on 6 June that year. Located along Margaret Drive within walking distance of Queenstown MRT station, it serves the residents of Alexandra, Bukit Timah, Buona Vista, Clementi, Commonwealth, Dover, Ghim Moh, Holland, Pasir Panjang, Queenstown, Tanglin Halt and Ulu Pandan.

The Queenstown Stadium is located in Queenstown, Singapore. It seats 3,800 people, and is opened from 4.30am to 9.30pm. The stadium is a 10-minute walk from Queenstown MRT station. In 2010 and 2011, it hosted Etoile FC of the S.League. 2012 saw the return of Tanjong Pagar United

The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), founded in 1956, is the oldest non-profit vocational university for lifelong learning in Singapore. It offers a variety of degree programs such as business management, engineering, fashion design, nursing, mass communications, psychology and hospitality management.It also offers preparatory courses for GCE 'O' level and 'A' level examinations via its subsidiary MDIS College, which is registered under the Committee for Private Education Singapore (CPE).

Church of Our Saviour or COOS is a church in Queenstown, Singapore, which began as a mission in the 1950s along Alexandra Road and has since grown into a megachurch with a weekly attendance of approximately 4,500. While it is a parish within the mainline Anglican church, COOS is known for its contemporary worship services and charismatic practices like speaking in tongues, faith healing and deliverance. The church is known for its ex-gay ministry Choices, a group formed by Sy Rogers of Exodus International in 1991 to offer conversion therapy of a religious nature.In 2009, a group of women associated with the church engineered a takeover of the Association of Women for Action and Research, alleging that the feminist group was harbouring and pushing a “pro-gay agenda”. They were eventually voted out at an Extraordinary General Meeting. COOS is currently led by Senior Pastor Daniel Wee.

Queenstown MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line in Queenstown, Singapore. It is built on a traffic island along Commonwealth Avenue. The station is named after Queen Elizabeth II to mark her coronation in 1952.

Forfar House was a 14-storey Housing and Development Board block in Queenstown, Singapore. At the time of the building's opening, it was the sixth tallest building in Singapore and the tallest public residential building in Singapore.

Queensway Secondary School (QSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Queenstown, Singapore. It offers a four to five-year course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level or Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level examinations.

The Police Tactical Unit (PTU) is a paramilitary specialist unit of the Singapore Police Force and comes under the direct command of the Special Operations Command. Based in Queenstown, it is the main anti-rioting and disaster-management unit of the police force. They are also called upon to handle cases of serious crime in progress, particularly cases involving firearms. From 2004, PTU officers also presented greater public prominence when they conducted patrols in public areas, such as at Orchard Road, Holland Village and Serangoon Gardens Estate, partly as a response to greater terrorism concerns.

The Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR) is a tactical unit of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), tasked to provide a tactical armed-response capability, and specialises in counter-terrorism and hostage rescue operations in Singapore.

The Police National Service Full-time Light Strike Force (PNSF LSF) was part of Special Operations Command, a division of Singapore Police Force, located at Queensway Base in Singapore from 1998 to 2005.

Lee Kim Lai (1960 – 25 April 1978) was a police officer who was murdered on 25 April 1978 for his service revolver by three men. A serving Police National Serviceman, he was performing sentry duty at the Police Reserve Unit 1 base of the Singapore Police Force at Mount Vernon when he was abducted from the front gate and forced into a taxi. His body was later found with multiple stab wounds in the abandoned taxi, the driver of which was also killed.

Queensway Base is the headquarters that is home to the Special Operations Command (SOC), a front line department of the Singapore Police Force (SPF). It is situated directly across Queensway, and was formerly the Old Queenstown Police Station. Units such as Police Light Strike Force, Police KINS Training Camp, Police Tactical Unit, STAR (Special Tactics And Rescue) unit and some SOC units are located here.
