Mary McLeod Bethune Home

Daytona Normal and industrial School, originally Daytona Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls was established in Daytona Beach, Florida by Mary McLeod Bethune in 1904. Bethune was active in voter registration and campaigning for women's suffrage. Her school was reportedly threatened by the Ku Klux Klan and she stood vigil to protect it. Bethune moved to Daytona in 1904, to a house near the railroad tracks, in order to found her own school. Called The Daytona Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls, the boarding school she established initially served five girls and Bethune's son. Within two years four teachers were instructing 250 students. In 1907, Faith Hall was built to house the growing school, but in seven years the school outgrew that. In 1916 the school moved into its new home, White Hall, a Georgian Revival architecture brick building. In 1919 the school became known as Daytona Normal and Industrial Institute.

White Hall is a historic site on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, United States. It is located at 640 Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard (formerly 2nd Avenue). On July 15, 1992, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Chiles Academy is a public charter school located in Daytona Beach, Florida, United States. It is part of the Volusia County Schools district. The school was originally built in 1926 as the Cypress Street Elementary School. Initially, the school consisted of a two-story block and stucco building with two brick wings. The school's name was changed in 1954 to Bonner Elementary School to honor its first and longest-serving principal, Evelyn Bonner, who headed the school from 1927 to 1959. Before her tenure at Cypress Street Elementary, Ms. Bonner taught at Campbell Elementary for 16 years. Following her retirement, Ms. Bonner continued to visit the school almost daily until her death in 1977 at the age of 85. Bonner Elementary School was one of several Volusia County schools closed in 2008. The building currently houses Chiles Academy, a charter high school for teen parents and their children. On December 2, 1996, the school was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The property is part of the Daytona Beach Multiple Property Submission, a Multiple Property Submission to the National Register.

The Seybold Baking Company Factory, also known as Columbia Baking Company or Southern Bakeries Factory, is a historic building at 800 Orange Avenue in Daytona Beach. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 30, 1997. The property is part of the Daytona Beach Multiple Property Submission. The Seybold Baking Company was founded in Miami by John Seybold.

In 1932 it was designed as one of America's 225 architectural "Main Street" treasures of the S. H. Kress & Co. "five and dime" department store chain. On July 7, 1983, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building is owned by Mac Smith, a Daytona Beach businessman who has owned it for over 40 years. It was subdivided into 21,000 sq ft (2,000 m2) of office space in the early 1980s. Among the major professional office suites is the Celebration Title Group, the Balliker Art Gallery, Guaranteed Rate, DC Construction Company, Jane Devine, LMFT, Musca Law, Prime Lending, Zinn Legal, Street Smarts, Shawn Brown Insurance, Strategic Wealth Investments, William Weeks Architecture . Volusia Land Management Group, The office building is a family partnership business operated by the Smith family and dedicated to reinvigorating the downtown business community.
