14th Gujarat Assembly

The Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat, in the state capital Gandhinagar. Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from single-member constituencies (seats). It has a term of 5 years unless it is dissolved sooner. 13 constituencies are reserved for scheduled castes and 27 constituencies for scheduled tribes. From its majority party group or by way of a grand coalition cabinet of its prominent members, the state's Executive namely the Government of Gujarat is formed. Since 1995, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly has been controlled by the Bharatiya Janata Party with an absolute majority in the House.

Gujarat ( GUUJ-ə-RAHT, Gujarati: [ˈɡudʒəɾat̪] ) is a state along the western coast of India. Its coastline of about 1,600 km (990 mi) is the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula. Gujarat is the fifth-largest Indian state by area, covering some 196,024 km2 (75,685 sq mi); and the ninth-most populous state, with a population of 60.4 million in 2011. Gujarat's capital city is Gandhinagar, while its largest city is Ahmedabad. The Gujaratis are indigenous to the state and their language, Gujarati, is the state's official language. The state encompasses 23 sites of the ancient Indus Valley civilisation (more than any other state). The most important sites are Lothal (the world's first dry dock), Dholavira (the fifth largest site), and Gola Dhoro (where 5 uncommon seals were found). Lothal is believed to have been one of the world's first seaports. Gujarat's coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch and Khambhat, served as ports and trading centres in the Maurya and Gupta empires and during the succession of royal Saka dynasties in the Western Satraps era. Along with Bihar, Mizoram and Nagaland, Gujarat is one of four Indian states to prohibit the sale of alcohol. The Gir Forest National Park in Gujarat is home to the only wild population of the Asiatic lion in the world.The economy of Gujarat is the fourth-largest in India, with a gross state domestic product (GSDP) of ₹16.55 trillion (equivalent to ₹19 trillion or US$230 billion in 2023) and has the country's 10th-highest GSDP per capita of ₹215,000 (US$2,700). Gujarat has the highest exports of all states, accounting for around one-third of national exports. It ranks 21st among Indian states and union territories in human development index. Gujarat is regarded as one of the most industrialised states and has a low unemployment rate, but the state ranks poorly on some social indicators and is at times affected by religious violence.

The Gujarat Sahitya Akademi (Gujarati: ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય અકાદમી) or Gujarat Sahitya Academy, established in 1981, is a government institution dedicated to the development of the languages spoken in Gujarat, India and their literature. Gujarati, an official language of Gujarat, is one of them; the others are Hindi, Sanskrit, Kutchi, Sindhi and Urdu. As of 2022, Bhagyesh Jha is the chairman of the Akademi.

Kamdhenu University is a public agricultural state university located at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It was established in 2009 by the Kamdhenu University Act, 2009 of the Government of Gujarat. It focuses on veterinary, dairy, fisheries and allied sciences.

Gandhinagar district is an administrative division of Gujarat, India, whose headquarters are at Gandhinagar, the state capital. It was organized in 1964. It has an area of 2140 km², and a population of 1,391,753 of which 43.16% lives in urban regions (2011 census). The district includes Gandhinagar with two Suburbs - Motera, Adalaj. The four tehsils are - Gandhinagar, Kalol, Dahegam and Mansa - and 216 villages. Connected to Ahmedabad by the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway, and with Vadodara with the Ahmedabad-Vadodara highway, these three cities form the top population centres and commercial heart of Gujarat and western India. Because of the division of the old Mumbai State, the State of Gujarat was formed on 1 May 1960. Because of the development of the territory of Gujarat, the capital of the state was kept at Ahmedabad. At that point, to diminish populace thickness of Ahmedabad city, Gandhinagar, the new capital of the territory of Gujarat, was set up. The city of Gandhinagar was set up on 2 August 1965. Many more companies are planning to come to infocity. Etech, Inc., one of the major BPO players in Gujarat is also based here along with operations in Vadodara and Texas.Akshardham Gandhinagar is situated in Sector-20. It is one of the major Hindu Temple complex of Gujarat. Gandhinagar has many educational institutions. With 87.11% its education level is highest in Gujarat.

National Forensic Sciences University (abb. as NFSU; formerly Gujarat Forensic Science University) is a public international university located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Recognized as an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, by an act of the Indian Parliament. NFSU is solely dedicated to forensic science, investigative science and criminology.

The Archdiocese of Gandhinagar (Latin: Gandhinagaren(sis)) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or archdiocese of the Catholic Church located in the city of Gandhinagar in India. The archdiocese is a metropolitan see with three suffragan dioceses in its ecclesiastical province.

Punit Van is a botanical garden located in Sector 19 in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat in India. It was developed in 2005 by the forest department of the Government of Gujarat. The forest department has developed several acres of land where the planted trees have been associated with stars, planets and zodiac signs. Punit means holy and Van means forest in Gujarati. Thus the garden has been called a holy forest. When it was founded, almost 3500 trees were planted in it, all with an astrological significance according to Hindu mythology.

St. Xavier's High School, Gandhinagar is a private Catholic primary and secondary school located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Founded in 1970 and run by the Society of Jesus, the school prepares students for the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate.

GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gandhinagar is a medical college located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It was established in 2012.
