Ocean University of Sri Lanka was established in 2014 by an act passed by the Parliament of Sri Lanka. It was earlier called the National Institute of Fisheries and Nautical Engineering. The objective of the university is to conduct academic and professional education and vocational training activities in fisheries, marine and nautical engineering to fulfill and develop the needs of the fisheries and allied sector in Sri Lanka.The Ocean University of Sri Lanka Main Campus is located in Colombo in Crow Island, Mattakuliya, Colombo 15. There are seven regional centers in addition to main campus at Crow Island. They are: Tangalle Kalutara Galle Batticaloa Trincomalee Negombo Jaffna

Rock House Army Camp is a military base located at Modera, north of Colombo in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It serves as the regimental headquarters of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps of Sri Lanka Army.

The Kelani River (Sinhala: කැළණි ගඟ) is a 145-kilometre-long (90 mi) river in Sri Lanka. The fourth-longest river in the country, it stretches from the Sri Pada Mountain Range to Colombo. HMS Tenedos (Pennant number initially FA4 and later H04) was an Admiralty 'S' class destroyer. Laid down on 6 December 1917, she was constructed by Hawthorn Leslie of Tyne, and was completed in 1918. She was commissioned in 1919 and served throughout the interwar period.

The Sojitz Kelanitissa Power Station (also known as Sojitz Power Station, and AES Kelanitissa Power Station), is privately owned 172 MW diesel-fired combined cycle power station located in Kelanitissa, in the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is owned by Sojitz Kelanitissa Private Limited, a subsidiary of Sojitz Corporation. The power station is located adjacent to the Kelanitissa Power Station, which is a separate government-owned power station. The power station consists of two generation units, a GEPG9171E gas turbine with a nameplate capacity of 115 MW, and a 57 MW steam turbine manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. Construction works were done by Larsen & Toubro. Like all power stations in Sri Lanka, power generated by the power station are sold to the Ceylon Electricity Board under a 20-year take-or-pay power purchase agreement. The low-sulfur diesel is supplied through an existing pipeline by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, with 20,000 tons, or the equivalent of 28-days of full capacity operations, stored in case of any fuel shortage. The plant is currently running on a 20-year contract, which ends on October 10, 2023. CEB acquired the power station on 28 March 2023.

Hendala Leprosy Hospital, established in 1708, is considered one of the oldest leprosy hospitals in South Asia. It is in Hendala, Wattala, Sri Lanka. This historic institution has served patients for centuries. It is considered to be Asia's first leprosy hospital, and is also believed to be the oldest functioning hospital in the world.

The convent includes an auditorium, libraries, ICT and Science laboratories, Basketball and Netball courts and gyms.

The Colombo Port Power Station (also sometimes referred to as the Colombo Port Power Barge) is a 60-megawatt powership, permanently moored at the Colombo Harbour, in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. After the plant's 15-year license expired in 2015, the Ceylon Electricity Board purchased the powership in a controversial deal. It was previously owned by Colombo Power Private Limited, a 50-50 joint venture by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding and Kawasho Corporation.The powership consists of four 15 MW units, totalling the plant capacity to 60 MW. Although the plant is estimated to generate 420 GWh per annum, the actual average generation is 494 GWh, 74 GWh above initial estimates. The barge was built by Sasebo Heavy Industries, with funding from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
