The village was first mentioned in the 15th century Meldersloe, and either means "forest of Madalhêr (person)" or "forest belonging to Meerlo".Melderslo was home to 301 people in 1840. On 26 May 1943, an Avro Lancaster was hit by Flak and crashed near Melderslo killing five of the crew member. A monument is located at the crash site. Museum De Locht is a museum for products produced in the region. In 1993, it was extended with the National Asparagus and Champignon.

Blitterswijck developed along the Maas near a castle. In 1815, it became part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.Castle Blitterswijck probably dated from the 14th century. In 1670, it was restored and redesigned in 1806. The castle was destroyed in 1944 and only ruins remain.The Catholic Onze Lieve Vrouwe Church is a double aisled church and dated from around 1500. In 1944, it was severely damaged. The nave was restored between 1950 and 1951. In 1953,a larger tower was added. The Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless church founded by Barones Mackay in 1828.Blitterswijck was home to 444 people in 1840. The village was severely damaged by war in 1944.

The village was first mentioned in 1294 or 1295 as "apud Vorste", and means "not fenced off forest near Broekhuizen". Broekhuizen was added to distinguish from Grubbenvorst. Broekhuizenvorst developed on the Maas in the Early Middle Ages. It used to be part of the Land van Kessel. In 1323, it became part of the Duchy of Guelders. In 1648, it became part of the Spanish Netherlands. In 1673, it became an independent parish. In 1713, it belonged to Prussia, and finally in 1815, it became part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.The Holy Name of Jesus Church is a short double aisled church. Its existence was already recorded in 1214. In the 13th century, the tower was added. It was enlarged in the 15th century. In 1944, the tower was blown up, and the church was rebuilt between 1948 and 1949.Broekhuizenvorst was home to 436 people in 1840.
