Invergowrie

Invergowrie railway station is a railway station which serves the village of Invergowrie, west of the city of Dundee, Scotland on the north bank of the Firth of Tay. It is the only intermediate station between Dundee and Perth, on the Glasgow to Dundee line, approximately 4 miles (6.4 kilometres) from Dundee station – and only around 500 yards (460 metres) from the city's western boundary – and just over 17 miles (27 kilometres) from Perth. ScotRail, who manage the station, provide all the services.

The Invergowrie rail accident happened at Invergowrie, Scotland on 22 October 1979. The accident killed 5 people and injured 51 others.

Gowrie Park is a residential area of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom. Sandwiched between Menzieshill and Dundee Technology Park, it is located in the western edge of the city. The Gowrie Park suburb was developed by local builders Bett Brothers in the 1970 and 80s and all homes are all privately owned. The streets all have names from places in the western Highlands of Scotland. Circumventing Gowrie Park is a cycle path, where the railway line to Lochee ran. At the South Road/Mallaig Avenue roundabout, some of the old Liff Station buildings (which closed around 1967) stand. The path of the railway can clearly be seen from above on Google Earth running directly behind Applecross Gardens and Peterburn Terrace. The cycle path (former rail line) is part of the Dundee green route which provides access to the Technology Park, Ninewells Hospital, the Kingsway dual carriageway to the west and Charleston, a sports centre and shops to the east. The majority of the children who live in Gowrie Park attend Tayview Primary School then go on to Harris Academy. The area is within walking distance of local shops and Ninewells Hospital. There are also regular bus routes through the area. The area is included in the Lochee council ward, yet is several miles from Lochee. The Councillors are Alan Ross, Roisin Smith, (Scottish National Party), Charlie Malone, and Michael Marra, (Labour).

Invergowrie Bay is a tidal basin located near Invergowrie in eastern Scotland. Also in the bay are the Gowrie Burn and the Huntly Burn. There is a 1.25 mi (2.01 km) walk along the shoreline from Invergowrie railway station to Kingoodie.

Kingoodie (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Gaothach or Scottish Gaelic: Ceann na Gaoithe "windy head(land)") is a hamlet about 4 miles (6.4 km) south west of Dundee, but in the region of Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The shore is easily accessible and close to the Firth of Tay.Quarries close to Kingoodie supplied the town with building stone for a number of centuries. This stone was important for the building of sea walls to protect the town from the tide and the harbour works. Stone for the tennis court at Falkland Palace was quarried near Kingoodie in 1540 and shipped to Lindores, north of the palace on the River Tay.There is a headland jutting out to sea in front of the village. This is mentioned in Groome's Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland (1882–4) in the Drimmie entry.

Within the UK, it is also a major NHS facility for psychosurgery. The medical school was ranked first in the UK in 2009. The hospital has nursing and research links with the University of Dundee and is managed by NHS Tayside.
