Wilson Speedway

Wilson County, officially the County of Wilson, is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 78,784. The county seat is Wilson. The county comprises the Wilson, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included within the Rocky Mount-Wilson-Roanoke Rapids, NC Combined Statistical Area.

Wilson Medical Center is a 294-bed hospital located in Wilson, North Carolina, serving Wilson and the surrounding counties. It was established in the 1960s and is the only hospital located in Wilson County. The hospital's chief executive is Christopher Munton.

The Wilson Central Business–Tobacco Warehouse District is a national historic district located at Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina. It encompasses 152 contributing buildings, 20 contributing sites, and 2 contributing structures in the central business district of Wilson. The district includes notable examples of Late Victorian and Art Deco style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed Branch Banking Building, Cherry Hotel, and Wilson County Courthouse. Other notable buildings include the Woodard-Watson Warehouse, Planter's Warehouse, Passenger Station and Freight Depot (1924), Jackson Chapel First Baptist Church (1913), St. John's African Methodist Episcopal Church (1915), Imperial Tobacco Company (c. 1903, c. 1910, 1919), Winstead-Hardy Building (c. 1866), Rountree Building (1870s), Planter's Bank Building (1920), United States Post Office and Courthouse (1927), Charles L. Coon High School (1922), First National Bank of Wilson Building (1927), Wilson Theatre (1922), Odd Fellows Lodge (1896), and the Works Projects Administration financed Wilson Municipal Building (1938). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Broad–Kenan Streets Historic District is a national historic district located at Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina. It encompasses 293 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Wilson. The district developed between about 1890 to 1940 and includes notable examples of Colonial Revival, Bungalow / American Craftsman, and Queen Anne style architecture. Notable buildings include the Woman's Club of Wilson (1922). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Wilson is a city in and the county seat of Wilson County, North Carolina, United States. It is the 23rd most populous city in North Carolina. Located approximately 40 mi (64 km) east of the capital city of Raleigh, it is served by the interchange of Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 264. Wilson had an estimated population of 49,459 in 2019, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and is also an anchor city of the Rocky Mount-Wilson-Roanoke Rapids CSA, with a total population of 297,726 as of 2018. In the early 21st century, Wilson was ranked as 18th in size among North Carolina's 500-plus municipalities. From 1990 to 2010, the city population increased by more than 40 percent, primarily due to construction of new subdivisions that attracted many new residents. This has been accompanied by new retail and shopping construction, primarily in the northwestern parts of the city. Wilson is a diverse community; in 2012, the US Census estimated that 48% of the population identified as African American, and 43% as Whites; the remaining 9% includes Latinos and Asians, such as Vietnamese, Chinese and Indians. The U.S. Census Bureau estimated in 2012 that nearly 5,000 county residents (7.5 percent) were foreign-born. Of those, nearly 3,000 people, or 62 percent, had entered the U.S. since 2000. Once a center of tobacco cultivation, the city was widely known as "The World’s Greatest Tobacco Market" in the 19th century. In the 21st century, Wilson enjoys a diverse economy based on agriculture, manufacturing, commercial, and service businesses.

The Branch Banking Company Building is a historic bank building located in Wilson, North Carolina. It was built by the Branch Banking and Trust Company in 1903, and is a two-story, rectangular, blond brick building in the Classical Revival / Renaissance Revival style. A three bay extension was built in 1934. It features reddish sandstone detailing such as the window surrounds, pediment, columns and capitals; and an overhanging pressed metal cornice. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It is located in the Wilson Central Business-Tobacco Warehouse Historic District. The building is now the headquarters of the Arts Council of Wilson.

The Cherry Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina. It was designed by Charles Collins Benton in Beaux Arts style and built in 1917. It is a six-story, U-shaped brick building with approximately 200 rooms. The interior features a two-story lobby with Art Deco style lighting fixtures. The hotel closed in 1981. It was subsequently converted to apartments. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Wilson Central Business-Tobacco Warehouse Historic District.

G.K. Butterfield Train Station, also known as Wilson station, is an Amtrak train station in Wilson, North Carolina, United States. It is located in downtown Wilson and is part of the Wilson Central Business–Tobacco Warehouse Historic District.

The Wilson County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located in Wilson, North Carolina. It was built in 1924–1925, and is a three-story, rectangular, Classical Revival style brick building. It features Corinthian order porticos in antis. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and is located within the Wilson Central Business-Tobacco Warehouse Historic District.

East Wilson Historic District is a national historic district located at Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina. It encompasses 858 contributing buildings and 2 contributing structures in a historically African-American section of Wilson. The district developed between about 1890 to 1940 and includes notable examples of Queen Anne, Bungalow / American Craftsman, and Shotgun style architecture. Notable buildings include the Reverend Henry W. Farrior House (c. 1890), Charles Thomas House, Samuel Vick House, Dr. Mathew Gillam House, Wilson Colored High School (1924), and Samuel H. Vick Elementary School (1939). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Davis-Whitehead-Harriss House is a historic home located at Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina. It was built in 1858, and renovated in 1872 in the Italianate style. It is a two-story, three bays wide, "T"-plan, frame dwelling, with a rear ell. It has single-shouldered, brick end chimneys with stuccoed stacks and a one-story, hipped roof front porch. Also on the property is a two-story frame carriage house built in 1925. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Old Wilson Historic District in Wilson, North Carolina is a 164-acre (66 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1984. It includes work dating from 1853 and work designed by architect Solon Balias Moore and others. The listing included 263 contributing buildings, one contributing site, one contributing structure, and three contributing objects. It includes the separately NRHP-listed Moses Rountree House and the NRHP-listed Davis-Whitehead-Harriss House.
