Manilva is a municipality which lies on the coast at the southwesternmost edge of the province of Málaga on its border with the Province of Cádiz in the autonomous community of Andalusia in Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Costa del Sol Occidental.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, played in Spain. It is a mixed stroke-play and match-play event, broadly similar to the World Super 6 Perth, the main difference being that the match-play matches are over 9 holes rather than 6. Aaron Rai won the inaugural tournament, beating Gavin Moynihan in the final. The inaugural event was held at La Cala Resort before moving to Valle Romano Golf in 2018 and 2019.

Its district covers an area of 137 square kilometers in a fertile valley crossed by small streams and a mountainous areas dominated by the Sierra Bermeja, which reaches an elevation of 1,449 m at the peak of Los Reales. Estepona is renowned for its beaches, which stretch along some 21 km of coastline. It is a popular resort and holiday destination. Due to its natural environment, surrounded by the sea and the mountains, Estepona has a micro-climate with over 325 days of sunshine per year. Estepona is a popular year-round holiday destination; it has two EC Blue Flag beaches, a modern sports marina with many tapas bars and restaurants. The white-walled town centre has many shops and picturesque squares. In the early 1990s, the Walt Disney Company chose Estepona as the original site for its Eurodisney project, but Paris, France, was later awarded the installation.

San Martín del Tesorillo is a municipality located in the province of Cádiz, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It was constituted as an independent municipality from Jimena de la Frontera on 2 October 2018.

Guadiaro is a neighborhood (parish) of the city of San Roque on the right bank of the Guadiaro River in the Province of Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain. Local festivals are held the first week of July. Due to its proximity to the coast and to the urbanization luxury Sotogrande, Guadiaro is mainly engaged in tourism. In the area there are several golf courses, which held, among other events, the Ryder Cup in the year 1997, and golf pole, as well as plenty of water sports. Takes its name from Guadiaro River. Guadiaro is the archaeological site of Barbésula, an old Roman city. The football team is the C.D. Guadiaro, founded in 1973 by townsfolk and with the help of local businesses.Guadiaro is accessed by A-2103, which links with San Enrique de Guadiaro through the Iron Bridge and Guadiaro by outputs 130 and 132 of the A-7. The road A-2100 leads from Guadiaro to Castellar de la Frontera. In August 2010 a roofed taxi stand entered service.

The Guadiaro is a river in the Spanish provinces of Cádiz and Málaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. The river is notable for having some of the only marshland on the Costa del Sol. This marsh is protected by a 27 hectares (67 acres) nature preserve. Sotogrande is the largest privately owned residential development in Andalusia, Spain. It is a gated community in the municipality of San Roque. Located 25 km northeast of Gibraltar, Sotogrande is composed of a 25-square-kilometre stretch from the Mediterranean Sea back into the foothills of Sierra Almenara, providing contrasting views of sea, hills, cork forests and green fairways, including the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco.

The European team won the competition by a margin of 141⁄2 to 131⁄2 and retained the Ryder Cup. The Europeans held a 101⁄2–51⁄2 lead heading into the final day, but the Americans mounted a comeback by winning the singles matches 8–4 but fell just short. Colin Montgomerie halved the final match with Scott Hoch (conceding a 15-foot (4.6 m) par putt on the final hole) to seal the outright victory for the Europeans. This was the first of six consecutive victories at home by Europe, a streak that remains intact through 2023.

The 2000 WGC-American Express Championship was a golf tournament that was contested from 9–12 November 2000 at Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande, San Roque, Spain. It was the second WGC-American Express Championship tournament, and the third of four World Golf Championships events that year. Mike Weir won the tournament after he birdied five of his first 11 holes on Sunday.

The Real Club Valderrama (Spanish pronunciation: [reˈal ˈkluβ βaldeˈrama]; "Royal Valderrama Club") is one of the best known golf clubs in the world. It is located in the Mediterranean resort of Sotogrande, San Roque in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, up the coast a few miles from the Strait of Gibraltar. Valderrama has a single 18-hole course, along with a 9-hole par 3 course. Valderrama was the traditional host of the now defunct Volvo Masters, hosting the event from 1988 to 2008, with a five-year break when the event was moved to the Montecastillo Golf Club. Valderrama also hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997, the first time the event had been held outside either the United States or United Kingdom, the WGC-American Express Championship in 1999 and 2000, and several other professional tournaments on both the European Tour and Ladies European Tour.

The 1999 WGC-American Express Championship was a golf tournament that was contested from 4–7 November 1999 at Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande, San Roque, Spain. It was the first WGC-American Express Championship tournament, and the third and final event in the inaugural year of the World Golf Championships. World number 1, Tiger Woods won the tournament after defeating Miguel Ángel Jiménez in the first extra hole of a playoff. Woods held a four stroke lead going into the 17th hole but hit it into the water on the tough par 5 and ended up scoring a triple bogey that allowed Jiménez to get back in it.
