Boon Keng MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North East line in Kallang, Singapore. Located underneath Serangoon Road just after the traffic junction with Towner Road and Boon Keng Road, Boon Keng station is within a ten-minute walk to Bendemeer MRT station on the Downtown line. The station was named after Dr Lim Boon Keng, a Chinese physician who promoted health and educational reforms in Singapore.

Bendemeer (Chinese: 明地迷亚, Tamil: பென்ட்டிமியிர்) is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Its boundary is made up of the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the north; Serangoon Road, the Kallang River, Sungei Whampoa and Bendemeer Road in the east; Lavender Street and Balestier Road in the south; and the Central Expressway (CTE) in the west.Bendemeer is primarily residential, consisting of both public housing built by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and private housing. Educational institutions within this subzone include Hong Wen School, Bendemeer Primary School, Bendemeer Secondary School and Northlight School. Other notable places within Bendemeer include Boon Keng MRT station along the North East Line, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital, Kallang Community Club, Kallang Neighbourhood Police Post, Boon Keng Fire Post and Central Sikh Temple. The upcoming Kallang Polyclinic will be sited within this subzone.

Kallang Bahru is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). This subzone is bounded by Bendemeer Road and Sungei Whampoa in the north; the Kallang River in the east; Kallang Road and Sims Avenue in the south; and Lavender Street in the west."Kallang Bahru" is also the name of a two-way road in the area. This road connects the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the northeast with Lavender Street in the southwest, with major junctions located at Geylang Bahru and Boon Keng Road. This road is unique as it is one of the few roads in Singapore to have a name without any generic element. The name of the subzone was derived from this road. The subzone of Kallang Bahru consists mostly of industrial and office developments. Notable places include the Kallang Delivery Base of Singapore Post, Aperia Mall and Victoria Wholesale Centre. Bendemeer MRT station along the Downtown Line is located within this subzone.

Central Sikh Temple is the first Sikh gurdwara in Singapore. Established in 1912, the temple had relocated several times before moving to its current site at Towner Road at the junction of Serangoon Road in Kallang in 1986 near Boon Keng MRT station. The gurdrawa is the main place of worship for the 15,000 Sikhs in the country, and is also known as Wada Gurdrawa.

Bendemeer Secondary School (BDMSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Kallang, Singapore. It was established in 1977 and officially declared open in 1978.

Whampoa Single Member Constituency was a single member constituency (SMC) located in the eastern region of Singapore. The constituency covers the main area of Whampoa. In 1968, Whampoa Constituency was formed by carving out of Kallang Constituency. In 1988, it was renamed as Whampoa Single Member Constituency as part of Singapore's political reforms. It existed for another term till 1991 when it was abolished and divided into Kampong Glam Group Representation Constituency (GRC), Jalan Besar GRC and Toa Payoh GRC. In 2011, Whampoa SMC was recreated by carving out from Jalan Besar GRC. It was later merged back to Jalan Besar GRC again in the 2015 Singaporean general election.

Whampoa is a housing estate located in the subzone of Balestier, which is a part of Novena planning area in Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Within the context of the Housing and Development Board (HDB), however, Whampoa forms part of the Kallang/Whampoa New Town, together with the various housing precincts located in the adjacent Kallang planning area. This makes Kallang/Whampoa the only HDB new town that encompasses two planning areas, namely Novena and Kallang. The area was named after Hoo Ah Kay, who was better known as "Whampoa" (his place of birth; Chinese: 黃埔; pinyin: Huángpǔ) during the early years of Singapore as a British settlement. He made many contributions to the Straits Settlements. In addition, he could speak both Chinese and English well, making him an important bridge between the two communities. The respect for his contributions resulted in this area being named after him. The Whampoa area has a significantly higher proportion of elderly and has garnered significant media attention with regard to active ageing programmes.

Bendemeer MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown Line in Kallang, Singapore. Despite its name, the station is not located under Bendemeer Road, but under Kallang Bahru. This station serves the commercial developments around Lavender Street and the industrial estates along Kallang Avenue. The famous Jalan Besar Stadium, Lavender MRT station and Boon Keng MRT station are in close proximity.

The National Aerated Water Company Factory is a factory which belonged to the National Aerated Water Company. The building was integrated into the Jui Residences condominium.

Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre, formerly known as St George’s Road Tamil Language Centre, is an academic institution for teaching Tamil language in Singapore. The institution is named after famed Tamil poet Umaru Pulavar. After the closure of Umar Pulavar Tamil High School in 1982, St George’s Road Tamil Language Centre was renamed as Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre in 1983 to preserve the name of the high school. The centre offers the Tamil language elective programme under the National Elective Tamil Programme by the Ministry of Education.
