Shira Hadasha (Hebrew: שירה חדשה, lit. 'New Song') is a Jewish congregation in the German Colony neighbourhood of Jerusalem, which emphasizes a more expansive role for women in the synagogue. It founded in 2002 by a group of local residents, including Tova Hartman. Shira Hadasha's prayer service format has been adopted by a number of congregations in Israel, the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

The German Colony (Hebrew: המושבה הגרמנית, HaMoshava HaGermanit) is a neighborhood in Jerusalem, established in the second half of the 19th century as a German Templer Colony in Palestine. Today the Moshava, as it is popularly known, is an upscale neighborhood bisected by Emek Refaim Street, an avenue lined with trendy shops, restaurants and cafes.

The Valley of Rephaim (Hebrew: עמק רפאים, Emeq Rephaim) (Joshua 15:8; Joshua 18:16, R.V.) or Valley of the Rephaim, is a valley descending southwest from Jerusalem to Nahal Sorek below, it is an ancient route from the coastal plain to the Judean Hills, probably named after the legendary race of giants. Emek Refaim (Hebrew: עמק רפאים), the German Colony in Jerusalem, takes its name from this valley.

Emek Refaim (Hebrew: עמק רפאים, English: Valley of Ghosts) is the German Colony, a neighborhood in Jerusalem, as well as its main street. It takes its name from the biblical Valley of Rephaim which began its descent from Jerusalem here.

Hartman High School (officially Charles E. Smith High School for Boys) is an Orthodox Jewish religious high school in Jerusalem.

The Shalem Center (Hebrew: מרכז שלם, Merkaz Shalem) was a Jerusalem research institute that supported academic work in the fields of philosophy, political theory, Jewish and Zionist history, Bible and Talmud, Middle East Studies, archaeology, economics, and strategic studies. In its mission statement the Center wrote that "It seems that the entire Jewish people is suffering from an identity crisis", making its purpose to "provide a proper response to these processes". Due to the prestige the center was able to acquire, with time renowned academics of different political orientation have joined the ranks of its faculty.The center became Shalem College in January 2013, when it received accreditation from the Council of Higher Education to offer Bachelor's degrees.

Talbiya or Talbiyeh (Arabic: الطالبية, Hebrew: טלביה), officially Komemiyut, is an upscale neighborhood in Jerusalem, between Rehavia and Katamon. It was built in the 1920s and 1930s on land purchased from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Most of the early residents were affluent Christian Arabs who built elegant homes with Renaissance, Moorish and Arab architectural motifs, surrounded by trees and flowering gardens.

Hansen House (Beit Hansen) is a historic building in the Talbiya neighborhood of Jerusalem, Israel established in 1887 as a leprosy hospital.

The Jerusalem railway station (Hebrew: תחנת הרכבת ירושלים, Tahanat HaRakevet Yerushalayim; Arabic: محطة قدس شريف), also known as the Jerusalem–Khan railway station (Hebrew: תחנת הרכבת ירושלים – החאן, Tahanat HaRakevet Yerushalayim–HaKhan; Arabic: محطة أورشليم – الخان) after the caravanserai building, now the Khan Theater located across the road, to differentiate it from the Jerusalem–Malha and Jerusalem–Yitzhak Navon stations opened after its closure, is a historic railway station in Jerusalem, located between Hebron Road and Bethlehem Road, near the German Colony. It was part of the Jaffa–Jerusalem railway until its closure in 1998. The station opened in 1892 during the Ottoman period as a terminus of the Jaffa–Jerusalem line, at the 86.6 kilometer mark and an elevation of 787 metres (2,582 ft). In 1998 this railway along with the station were closed and the station was not included in the restoration of the Tel Aviv – Jerusalem line, completed in 2005. The station lay neglected for many years, although the railway yard was used for annual events such as Hebrew Book Week. After undergoing an extensive restoration, it reopened as a culture and entertainment center in May 2013.

Jerusalem Khan Theatre (תיאטרון החאן – Teat'ron HaKhan, lit. "The Caravanserai Theatre") is a repertory theatre based in Jerusalem. The theatre is located near the Jerusalem Railway Station, in an old caravanserai building.

Liberty Bell Park (Hebrew: גן פעמון הדרור, Gan Pa'amon HaDror), is a park in Jerusalem containing a replica of the Liberty Bell from which it gets its name. It is located near the Talbiyeh, German Colony, and Yemin Moshe neighborhoods. Founded in 1976 to celebrate the USA's bicentennial and covering 9 acres, it is the most popular park in the city. It includes sports facilities, a picnic area, a 1,000-seat amphitheater, a music corner and areas for exhibitions, folk dancing and performances.The park features Jerry the Dragon, a concrete play sculpture by Ulrik Plesner, the Danish-born Israeli architect who designed the park.The Train Theater, a children's puppet theater, is housed in an old railway carriage at the northern end of Liberty Bell Park.

A suicide bombing of Egged bus #14a took place in Jerusalem on February 22, 2004. Eight passengers were killed in the attack and over 60 people were injured, many of them children on their way to school. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack.
