Saint-Gingolph, Switzerland

Saint-Gingolph is a small town situated on the south bank of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman). It sits at the France–Switzerland border and is administratively divided into Saint-Gingolph, Valais (Switzerland) and Saint-Gingolph, Haute-Savoie (France). Its name is derived from the eighth-century saint Gangulphus, who is said to have lived as a hermit in this region. Its division at the Morge dates from 1569: as the municipal Web site explains, it is one town consisting of a single parish (the church and cemetery are on the French side) with two municipal administrations and two distinct legal systems. Saint-Gingolph is located a short distance from Évian-les-Bains, Monthey and Montreux. It is accessible by road, rail or boat. Built on an alluvial cone of the Morge, a frontier mountain stream, St. Gingolph is surrounded by mountains and has approximately 8 km of shore-line alongside the lake.

St-Gingolph railway station (French: Gare de St-Gingolph, German: Bahnhof St-Gingolph) is a railway station in the municipality of Saint-Gingolph, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is the northern terminus of the Saint-Gingolph–Saint-Maurice line and is served by local trains only. The station sits on the border between Switzerland and France; there is no rail service on the French side.

César Ritz Colleges Switzerland is a hospitality school with campuses in Le Bouveret and Brig, Switzerland. The school offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in partnership with Washington State University (USA) and the University of Derby (UK), and shares its campuses with sister school Culinary Arts Academy Switzerland. Le Bouveret (French pronunciation: [lə buvʁɛ]) is a village in the commune of Port-Valais in the Swiss canton of Valais. Situated at the southernmost end of Lake Geneva and close to the French border, Le Bouveret is very much tourism-oriented with several amusement attractions, including the Swiss Vapeur Parc and the water amusement park Aquaparc. Le Bouveret is also the seat of Cesar Ritz Colleges, a Hospitality school.

The Swiss Vapeur Parc is a miniature park in Le Bouveret, a village on Lac Léman, Switzerland. It was opened on June 6, 1989, by an International Festival of Steam (therefore steam trains). When the park opened its total surface area was 9000 m2 (2.2 acres), but the park expanded and as of 2007, the park covers a surface area of 17'000 m2 (or 4.2 acres). In 1989, the park possessed only 2 locomotives (one running on benzine and one on steam). As of 2007, the number of trains running on benzine has sextupled while the number of steam trains has increased to 9 trains. By March 31, 2007, the Park has had 2'126'000 visitors. Every June the park is host to the International Steam Festival.

Saint-Saphorin is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud, located on the shore of Lake Geneva, in the district of Lavaux-Oron.

The Tauredunum event (German: Tauredunum-Ereignis) of 563 AD was a tsunami on Lake Geneva (then under the Frankish territory of the Kingdom of Orleans), triggered by a massive landslide which caused widespread devastation and loss of life along the lakeshore. According to two contemporary chroniclers, the disaster was caused by the collapse of a mountainside at a place called Tauredunum at the eastern end of Lake Geneva. It caused a great wave to sweep the length of the lake, sweeping away villages on the shoreline and striking the city of Geneva with such force that it washed over the city walls and killed many of the inhabitants. A study published in October 2012 suggests that the Tauredunum landslide triggered the collapse of sediments that had accumulated at the point where the River Rhône flows into Lake Geneva. This caused a huge underwater mudslide that displaced several hundred million cubic metres of sediment, producing a tsunami up to 16 metres (52 ft) high that reached Geneva within about 70 minutes. There is evidence of four previous mudslides, suggesting that tsunamis may be a recurrent phenomenon on Lake Geneva. It is also speculated that such an event could happen again, with far more severe consequences as more people live within potentially affected areas, and because most people are not accustomed to the idea of tsunamis happening in landlocked bodies of water and are thus unaware of the danger.

Aile Castle is a castle in the municipality of Vevey of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

St-Saphorin railway station (French: Gare de St-Saphorin) is a railway station in the municipality of Saint-Saphorin, in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Simplon line of Swiss Federal Railways.

The Fête des Vignerons (Winegrowers' Festival) is a traditional festival which takes place in Vevey, in Switzerland. It has been organised by the Confrérie des Vignerons (Brotherhood of Winegrowers) in Vevey since 1797. The organising committee is free to choose how often the festival takes place, but the idea is that it is held once in a generation. Up to now, the interval between two festivals has varied between 14 and 28 years. The most recent festival took place in July and August 2019, 20 years after the preceding one (1999).The festival features a show celebrating the world of winemaking; performances take place in the Vevey marketplace on the shores of Lake Geneva, and other festivities are organised around the town. Since 2016, the Fête des Vignerons has been included in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.The 2019 edition of the festival was recommended as one of National Geographic's "world's most exciting destinations", one of The New York Times's "places to go in 2019" and was listed in The Guardian's "Where to go in 2019" list.

The Reformed Church of Saint-Symphorien (French: église réformée Saint-Symphorien) is a Protestant church in Saint-Saphorin, canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It is listed as a heritage site of national significance.
