Le Grammont (French pronunciation: [lə ɡʁamɔ̃]) is a mountain in the Chablais Alps, near Le Bouveret in Valais. At 2,172 metres (7,126 feet) above sea level, it is one of the highest peaks overlooking Lake Geneva. Various trails lead to the summit, mostly from the southern side. On the way to the summit, there is a mountain lake, the Lac de Taney. The Tauredunum event of AD 563 is thought to have occurred on the slopes of Le Grammont, named for a Roman-era fortress situated close to the point where the Rhône flows into Lake Geneva. During the Second World War, there is a recorded incident of a Lancaster of the Royal Air Force getting shot down by the Swiss anti-aircraft gunners and crashing into the mountain. The pilot of the aircraft was Horace Badge and all of the crew were lost.

Tanay, also spelled "Taney", is a hamlet located in the municipality of Vouvry, in Switzerland.

Lac de Lovenex is a lake in the municipality of St-Gingolph, Valais, Switzerland. It is located an elevation of 1632 m below Mont Gardy. The lake's surface area is 4.7 hectares (12 acres).

Lac de Taney (or Lac de Tanay) is a lake in Valais, Switzerland. Its surface area is 17 ha (42 acres).

The Sex du Coeur (also known as Pointe d'Arvouin) is a mountain of the Chablais Alps, located on the border between Switzerland and France. It lies south of the Cornettes de Bise, between the alp of Le Coeur and the lake of Arvouin.

Le Tâche (French pronunciation: [lə taʃ]; 1,691 m) is a mountain of the Chablais Alps, overlooking the Rhone valley at Vouvry, in the canton of Valais. It lies east of the Lac de Taney.

The Cornettes de Bise (French pronunciation: [kɔʁnɛt də biz]) is a mountain in the Chablais Alps, overlooking Lake Geneva. At 2,432 metres (7,979 feet) above sea level, it is the highest summit of the subrange running from Pas de Morgins to Lake Geneva. The mountain is located on the border between France (west) and Switzerland (east). Nearest localities are Miex (Valais) and La Chapelle-d'Abondance (Haute Savoie). Various trails lead to the summit from both sides.

Le Linleu is a mountain in the Chablais Alps on the Swiss-French border. Towards the Swiss side, it displays a towering wall of several hundred meters, but it is easily accessible from the French side via a marked hiking path. It offers a beautiful circular panorama featuring the Diablerets, Dents du Midi and Cornettes de Bise.

Lac d'Arvouin is a lake south of Cornettes de Bise in the Haute-Savoie region of France. The lake is surrounded by several summits, including Pointe d'Arvouin (2,019 m) and Le Linleu (2,093 m). It covers an area of 1.8 hectares and its deepest point is 6.3 metres. It is located at an altitude of 1,663 metres.

The Tauredunum event (German: Tauredunum-Ereignis) of 563 AD was a tsunami on Lake Geneva (then under the Frankish territory of the Kingdom of Orleans), triggered by a massive landslide which caused widespread devastation and loss of life along the lakeshore. According to two contemporary chroniclers, the disaster was caused by the collapse of a mountainside at a place called Tauredunum at the eastern end of Lake Geneva. It caused a great wave to sweep the length of the lake, sweeping away villages on the shoreline and striking the city of Geneva with such force that it washed over the city walls and killed many of the inhabitants. A study published in October 2012 suggests that the Tauredunum landslide triggered the collapse of sediments that had accumulated at the point where the River Rhône flows into Lake Geneva. This caused a huge underwater mudslide that displaced several hundred million cubic metres of sediment, producing a tsunami up to 16 metres (52 ft) high that reached Geneva within about 70 minutes. There is evidence of four previous mudslides, suggesting that tsunamis may be a recurrent phenomenon on Lake Geneva. It is also speculated that such an event could happen again, with far more severe consequences as more people live within potentially affected areas, and because most people are not accustomed to the idea of tsunamis happening in landlocked bodies of water and are thus unaware of the danger.

The Dent du Vélan is a peak in the Chablais Alps, located north of the Cornettes de Bise. At 2,059 metres (6,755 ft) above sea level, its summit straddles the border between Switzerland and France. The Dent du Vélan is the westernmost summit rising above 2,000 m (6,560 ft) in Switzerland.

St-Gingolph railway station (French: Gare de St-Gingolph, German: Bahnhof St-Gingolph) is a railway station in the municipality of Saint-Gingolph, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is the northern terminus of the Saint-Gingolph–Saint-Maurice line and is served by local trains only. The station sits on the border between Switzerland and France; there is no rail service on the French side.
