Llangynwyd railway station is on the Maesteg Line in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. It was closed to regular passenger trains on 22 June 1970 but continued to be served by school trains until 15 July 1970, The line through the station reopened in 1992 by British Rail.

Llynfi power station supplied electricity to the Bridgend area of Glamorgan South Wales from 1943 to 1977. The coal-fired station was originally built and operated by the South Wales Power Company Limited to supply electricity to munitions factories during the Second World War. It was completed by the post-nationalisation British Electricity Authority in 1951, and was later operated by the Central Electricity Generating Board. The power station was closed in 1977 and was subsequently demolished. There have been several proposals to redevelop the site.

The A4063 links the town of Bridgend with Cymer in Wales.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Llangynwyd is a Welsh-medium secondary school for pupils aged between 11 and 18. The school is based in the village of Llangynwyd in the borough of Bridgend, Wales. The school opened on 3 September 2008 on the site of the former Maesteg Comprehensive Upper School in Llangynwyd. It is the only secondary school in the borough of Bridgend to use the Welsh language as the primary medium of education. As of 2023, there were a total of 712 pupils on roll at the school, with 111 in the sixth form. In 2023, 30.7% of pupils come from Welsh-speaking households.The school is fed from the four Welsh medium primary schools in Bridgend County Borough: Ysgol Cynwyd Sant, Maesteg Ysgol Bro Ogwr, Brackla Ysgol y Ferch o'r Sger, Cornelly Ysgol Calon y Cymoedd, BettwsThe school's motto is "Dysg ... Dawn ... Dyfodol" (Learning ... Talent ... Future). Pupils in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 are currently grouped into three houses: Garw, Ogwr, and Llynfi. These houses represent the main valleys and rivers that form the catchment area of the school. This changes when the pupils move onto the sixth form, where the four houses are instead Lluest, Ffaldau, Cwmdu, and Garth, which represent other various locations in South Wales. Unlike the non-sixth form houses, these houses do not have representative colours.

Llangynwyd is a village (and electoral ward) 2 miles to the south of Maesteg, in the county borough of Bridgend, Wales. It was part of the medieval commote (Welsh: cwmwd) of Tir Iarll.

Llangynwyd Middle is a community in Bridgend County Borough, south Wales. It is located to the south of Maesteg and contains the villages of Llangynwyd and Cwmfelin. At the 2001 census, the population of the community was 2,843, increasing to 3,032 at the 2011 Census.The community is the northern part of the old parish of Llangynwyd, and was created by government reorganisation in 1974. The majority of Llangynwyd Middle is made up of hilly farmland and is sparsely populated. The River Llynfi flows through the community alongside the A4063, the main road linking Maesteg in the north and Bridgend town in the south.

Garth is a village in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. Garth is situated to the east of the town of Maesteg, and lies at the northernmost end of the Llynfi Valley. During the 19th century Garth was an industrial coal-mining village which contained its own colliery, the Garth Merthyr Colliery.

Garth railway station (Bridgend) is a railway station serving the village of Garth, Bridgend, Wales. It is located on the Maesteg Line from Cardiff via Bridgend. The station is known as Garth (Bridgend) in order to differentiate it from Garth (Powys).

Cwmdu railway station served the hamlet of Cwmdu, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1913 to 1932 on the Port Talbot Railway.

St David's Church is a Grade I listed church in Bettws, Bridgend County Borough, southern Wales. The church is believed to date to the 12th century, though was dedicated to St David later on. There is mention of the church in a charter of the Bishop of Llandaff, who died in 1183. The current church is largely of the 15th–16th century. In 1893 the church was underwent renovation following funding from Olive Talbot of Margam. She funded the addition of an aisle on the northern side, built by G Halliday. One roof truss from the original building remains in the porch. Inside the church is a painted wooden monument to weaver John Bradford (1690–1780) of Y Pandy, and wall monuments in memory of Calvinistic preacher Rees Price, and members of local families such as the Trahernes. St David's Church became a Grade I listed building on 30 July 1997.

Bettws , (Welsh: Betws) is a small ex-mining and farming village in the South Wales Valleys in the county borough of Bridgend, Wales. Bettws is also an electoral ward for the county council. Bryngarw Country Park is approximately one mile away, with a footpath leading there from the village. The village is around 3 miles away from Junction 36 on the M4 Motorway, and is located to the west of Llangeinor and to the north of Brynmenyn.

Llangynwyd Lower is a community in Bridgend County Borough, south Wales. It is located to the north west of Bridgend and contains the village of Coytrahen. At the 2001 census, the population of the community was 467, reducing to 440 at the 2011 Census. The community is the southern part of the old parish of Llangynwyd, and was created by government reorganization in 1974. The majority of Llangynwyd Lower is made up of hilly farmland and is sparsely populated. The western border of the community is a woodland valley, while the eastern border roughly follows the River Llynfi and the A4063 road.
