Cotton Hall

Kedington is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England, located between the towns of Clare and Haverhill in the south-west of Suffolk. Known as Doomtown in the Domesday Book (1086), there were 280 people living there at that time. Part of it was formerly in Essex. Kedington's church, St Peter and St Paul, is one of the historical treasures of East Anglia, dating from the late 13th century. However, the church is built on top of a Roman villa, the remains of which can be viewed under small trap doors located in the pews towards the back of the nave. There is an Anglo-Saxon stone cross located above the altar on the east wall of the church. This was found near to the church and is believed to be from a church dating from Saxon times. Kedington comes in the top rank of small English churches and is renowned for its unmodernised interior and Barnardiston tombs. John Betjeman understandably christened Kedington ' a village Westminster Abbey'. The 17th century Archbishop of Canterbury John Tillotson was rector of Kedington prior to his elevation.

Calford Green is a small hamlet situated 0.5 miles south of Kedington and two miles east of Haverhill in south-west Suffolk, United Kingdom.

Stour Brook is a river that starts north west of the town of Haverhill, Suffolk just over the Cambridgeshire border in the parish of West Wickham. After leaving Haverhill, it quickly joins the River Stour by the village of Wixoe, Essex. During its course through Haverhill, most of the natural channel of this river has been replaced with a concrete channel.

Sturmer is a village in the county of Essex, England, 2 miles (3 km) SE of Haverhill and close to the county border with Suffolk. Its name was originally "Stour Mere", from the River Stour and is explicitly mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. A Tudor illustration of the mere from the summer of 1571 exists in the National Archives. The mere still exists today to the north-east of the village. The village also gives its name to the Sturmer Pippin apple which was raised by Ezekiel Dillistone from 1831, and grown in the orchards of the village.

Sturmer railway station was a station that served the village of Sturmer, Essex, England. It opened in 1865 on the Stour Valley Railway between Sudbury and Cambridge. The station and line closed in 1967 as part of the Beeching cuts. The station building still stands today as a private residence.

Wixoe is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located on the northern bank of the River Stour, two miles south-east of Haverhill, in 2005 its population was 140. It consists largely of Victorian cottages along a narrow lane. There is a church of 12th-century origin, St Leonard's, much restored in the 1880s. It was recorded in the Domesday Book, at 600 acres one of the smallest parishes in the hundred of Risbridge. There are some 13 listed buildings, including a 19th-century bridge and a water mill.The Great Eastern Railway ran through the village, part of the Stour Valley line from 1865 until its closure in March 1967 under the Beeching 'axe'. The nearest stations were Sturmer to the west and Stoke-by-Clare to the east. The track bed and embankments remain clearly visible.

Barnardiston ( bar-nər-DIS-tən) is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. The village is located about four miles north-east of Haverhill off the A143.

Haverhill Railway Walks is a 14.1 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Haverhill in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by West Suffolk Council.This is a footpath along a three mile stretch of a closed section of the Stour Valley Railway. Much of it is covered with scrub and large trees, and it provides a wildlife corridor for a diverse range of fauna and flora through the centre of Haverhill.

Little Wratting is a small village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located on the north-eastern edge of Haverhill, in 2005 its population was 160.

Birdbrook railway station was located 0.7 miles (1.1 km) to the northeast of the village of Birdbrook, Essex. It was 65 miles 74 chains (106.10 km; 65.93 mi) from London Liverpool Street via Marks Tey. It opened in 1863 as the replacement for Whitley station, and closed in 1962. Former Services

Baythorne End is a hamlet in the English county of Essex, England. It is located directly on the border with Suffolk. The hamlet is within the civil parish of Birdbrook and forms a part of the Braintree parliamentary seat. Immediate neighbouring villages include: Ridgewell, Sturmer, Stoke-by-Clare and Wixoe. Notable buildings include Baythorne Mill, Baythorne Hall, which dates from 1341 and the mansion and estate at Baythorne Park. The estate was purchased by George Pyke in 1640, where he built the Baythorne Park mansion some 28 years later. The mansion was somewhat larger than Baythorne Hall. Baythorne Park continued to be owned by the Pyke family for well over 200 years.
