Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

The International Children's Festival at Wolf Trap was a youth-oriented festival dedicated to the performing, visual, and interactive arts. The festival is held each September at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Fairfax County, Virginia, which is the United States' only national park devoted solely to the performing arts. First conceived in 1971 as "International Children's Day", the festival provides opportunities for children to share aspects of their culture through the arts. The idea and impetus for the festival came from Joan C. Blair, also on the Fairfax County Arts Council. She convinced the founder of the Wolf trap National Park for Performing Arts, Catherine Filene Shouse, to support the festival.The International Children's Festival is sponsored by the Arts Council of Fairfax County in cooperation with the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the National Park Service. Proceeds from the annual festival support the educational programs and services of the Arts Council of Fairfax County. It is held annually in September, typically on the 3rd weekend of the month. By the end of 2011, it was decided to conclude the tradition, amid financial issues.

Wolf Trap is a proposed Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia, on the Silver Line between Wiehle–Reston East and Spring Hill. The station would be located in the central median of Virginia State Route 267 (Dulles Access Road) at the Trap Road overpass adjacent to the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. A stop at Wolf Trap had been considered part of the Silver Line. However, it was deemed too costly with little development potential. It was thus excluded from the initial phases of the project, though provisions were to be made for future construction of the station. Some of these provisions, such as the installation of an additional crossover, have been omitted from the project to reduce costs. However, the track at the Trap Road overpass has been spaced and graded to allow the future installation of a center island platform. However, as of April 2023, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has no current plans to construct the station.

Ash Grove is an 18th-century plantation house in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. In 1790, Bryan Fairfax built Ash Grove on Leesburg Pike, two miles west of present-day Tysons Corner, for his son Thomas Fairfax. Ash Grove is said to have been named for an older Fairfax family house in England. In his later years, Thomas bought Vaucluse Plantation, near Alexandria, Virginia, and bestowed Ash Grove upon his second son, Henry. He married Caroline Herbert of Maryland, and they had several children, and operated a boarding school for young ladies.Captain Henry Fairfax died during the Mexican–American War, at Saltillo, Mexico, on August 14, 1847. The property was purchased by James Sherman on June 20, 1851. Descendants on occasion relate some interesting family lore of American Civil War events when the neighborhood was a "no man's land."James Sherman died in spring 1865, and left the property to his son, Franklin Sherman (February 11, 1843 - April 9, 1915), Lieutenant in the 10th Michigan Cavalry. He returned after the Civil War to farm, was Sheriff, member of the Board of Supervisors, and School Board. (A Fairfax County Elementary School is named for him.) The property passed to Wells Alvord Sherman, and then Wilson C Sherman.The house was purchased from the Sherman family in 1997, and dedicated as a Fairfax County, Virginia, park.

Wolf Trap is an affluent census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 16,131 at the 2010 census. Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is located in the CDP.

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens (100+ acres) are botanical gardens and an event venue located at 9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court, in Vienna, Virginia. They are open daily except for major holidays and ice; an admission fee is charged. Garden admissions end when the Visitor Center closes. The Visitor Center is open from 10AM until 3:30PM from November through March and from April through October 10AM until 6:30PM. Meadowlark Botanical Gardens closes 30 minutes after the Visitor Center's posted closing. The property is protected and operated by the NOVA Parks agency of Northern Virginia.

Towlston Grange is an 18th-century plantation in Great Falls in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The estate served as a residence for several prominent members of the Fairfax family. Towlston Grange is located at 1213 Towlston Road in Great Falls. There is a photograph of Bryan Fairfax's Towlston Grange in its unrestored state, taken by "The Rambler" of the Washington, D.C. Evening Star newspaper in 1918, that shows a 1+1⁄2-story clapboarded house built in the English tradition.[4]

Spring Hill (preliminary names Tysons West, Tysons–Spring Hill Road) is a Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia, on the Silver Line. Located in Tysons, it began operation on July 26, 2014. The station is located in the central median of Leesburg Pike (SR 7) just west of Spring Hill Road. There had been some controversy about whether to build the rail through Tysons below ground or on elevated tracks. The efforts to build a tunnel through all of Tysons failed, and the current design has the main platform with a height of 48 ft (15 m) at its east end and 51 ft (16 m) at its west end.The station is about 5.8 miles (9.3 km) from Wiehle–Reston East, the next station to the west, but only about 0.8 miles (1.3 km) from Greensboro directly to the southeast.

Foxstone Park is a 14.42-acre (58,400 m2) park located at 1910 Creek Crossing Road in Vienna, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA and run by the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Browns Mill is an unincorporated community in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. Browns Mill is located at the intersection of Beulah and Browns Mill Roads midway between the Dulles Toll Road (Virginia State Route 267) and the Leesburg Pike (State Route 7). Nearby is Wolftrap Stream Valley Park and Wolftrap Creek, which Browns Mill once operated upon.
