Milltown India Rubber Company

The Raritan River Freight Station is the only surviving station of the Raritan River Railroad and is located in Milltown, New Jersey. It is currently owned by James Curran and has agreed to sell the station to the Raritan River Railroad Historical Society for one dollar if they can find the means of moving it off of his property. For a number of years he has been using the station as a storage room. He has recently stopped this as a result of the stations deteriorating condition.

Milltown is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The borough is nestled within the heart of the Raritan Valley region, with Lawrence Brook (a Raritan river tributary) flowing through the center of the community. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 6,893, reflecting a decrease of 107 (-1.5%) from the 7,000 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 32 (+0.5%) from the 6,968 counted in the 1990 Census.Milltown was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on January 29, 1889, from portions of North Brunswick, based on the results of a referendum held three days earlier. The borough was reincorporated by resolution of the borough council on May 2, 1896. A portion of East Brunswick Township was annexed in 1902. Originally known as Bergen's Mill, named for Jacob I. Bergen who owned the grist mill, the name is believed to have become "Milltown" from residents "going to the mill in town".As of the 2000 Census, the center of population for New Jersey was located in Milltown, at Milltown Road, just east of the New Jersey Turnpike (see map of location). Based on the results of the 2010 Census, the center of population had shifted to East Brunswick.The groundbreaking anxiolytic and sedative drug Miltown (meprobamate) developed by Carter Products, which became available to the public in the mid-1950s, was named for the borough.

The Milltown Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district, serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Milltown, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2014-15 school year, the district and its two schools had an enrollment of 996 students and 56.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 17.7:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "FG", the fourth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.For ninth through twelfth grades, public school students attend Spotswood High School in Spotswood as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Spotswood Public Schools, which also serves students from Helmetta. In 2013, Milltown and Spotswood had discussions of expanding the partnership between the two districts beyond the sending relationship.

WRSU (88.7 FM) is a non-commercial college radio station serving the greater Central New Jersey area, broadcasting from the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. It is a student and faculty-run radio station with Rutgers faculty member Mike Pavlichko serving as its Broadcast Administrator. WRSU broadcasts on FM and streams all of its programming online.

Farrington Lake is a scenic freshwater reservoir in Middlesex County, New Jersey near Milltown, New Jersey. Created by a dam on the Lawrence Brook, a tributary of the Raritan River, the lake is in fact a widened section of the Lawrence Brook. Its main tributaries are the Ireland Brook, the Beaverdam Brook, and the Oakeys Brook. The lake is named after Edward Farrington, mayor of New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1915–1918, who envisioned the construction of the dam to supply water to his city. Mayor Farrington died while in office, in 1918. The lake is bordered by East Brunswick, North Brunswick and South Brunswick. It covers about 1.17 km² (290 acres) and has a mean depth of 2 meters (6 ft) with a maximum depth of 4 meters (12 ft). The lake is accessible from a boat ramp; the only powered boats allowed are those with an electric motor. Fish species in the lake include Chain Pickerel, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Crappie, Brown Trout, Yellow Perch and Rainbow Trout.

Rutgers Gardens (130 acres) is the official botanic garden of Rutgers University, located on the outskirts of Cook Campus, at 112 Ryders Lane, North Brunswick, New Jersey. The grounds include 60 acres of designed beds, specialty gardens, tree and shrub collections, lawns, and walking paths, as well as the adjoining 70-acre Frank G. Helyar Woods. A place of learning and beauty, Rutgers Gardens strives to provide a fun, educational, and engaging place for students, faculty, and the community to enjoy the natural world. Solomon Schechter Day School of Raritan Valley was a Conservative Jewish day school that served students in kindergarten through eighth grade that was located in East Brunswick, New Jersey, United States, until its closure before the start of the 2013–14 school year. It was affiliated with the Solomon Schechter Day School Association. The school's mission was "To operate a financially sound Jewish Day School that offers a superior general studies program coupled with a rich program in Judaic studies in an environment that thrives on Jewish values", with classes in all grades averaging 18 students.The school is located in the Raritan Valley, which covers Union, Somerset, and Hunterdon counties, as well as the northern portion of Middlesex County. As of the 2009–10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 120 students and 12.9 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 9.3:1.
