The Raritan River Freight Station is the only surviving station of the Raritan River Railroad and is located in Milltown, New Jersey. It is currently owned by James Curran and has agreed to sell the station to the Raritan River Railroad Historical Society for one dollar if they can find the means of moving it off of his property. For a number of years he has been using the station as a storage room. He has recently stopped this as a result of the stations deteriorating condition.

The Milltown India Rubber Company is a historic building located at 40 Washington Avenue in the borough of Milltown in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Construction of the building started in 1899 and was completed in 1900. Designed by architect George Parsell with vernacular Italianate style, it was part of the rubber industry in the county. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 13, 1986 for its significance in architecture and industry.

WRSU (88.7 FM) is a non-commercial college radio station serving the greater Central New Jersey area, broadcasting from the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. It is a student and faculty-run radio station with Rutgers faculty member Mike Pavlichko serving as its Broadcast Administrator. WRSU broadcasts on FM and streams all of its programming online.

The Milltown Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district, serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Milltown, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2014-15 school year, the district and its two schools had an enrollment of 996 students and 56.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 17.7:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "FG", the fourth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.For ninth through twelfth grades, public school students attend Spotswood High School in Spotswood as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Spotswood Public Schools, which also serves students from Helmetta. In 2013, Milltown and Spotswood had discussions of expanding the partnership between the two districts beyond the sending relationship.

Milltown is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The borough is nestled within the heart of the Raritan Valley region, with Lawrence Brook (a Raritan river tributary) flowing through the center of the community. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 6,893, reflecting a decrease of 107 (-1.5%) from the 7,000 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 32 (+0.5%) from the 6,968 counted in the 1990 Census.Milltown was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on January 29, 1889, from portions of North Brunswick, based on the results of a referendum held three days earlier. The borough was reincorporated by resolution of the borough council on May 2, 1896. A portion of East Brunswick Township was annexed in 1902. Originally known as Bergen's Mill, named for Jacob I. Bergen who owned the grist mill, the name is believed to have become "Milltown" from residents "going to the mill in town".As of the 2000 Census, the center of population for New Jersey was located in Milltown, at Milltown Road, just east of the New Jersey Turnpike (see map of location). Based on the results of the 2010 Census, the center of population had shifted to East Brunswick.The groundbreaking anxiolytic and sedative drug Miltown (meprobamate) developed by Carter Products, which became available to the public in the mid-1950s, was named for the borough.

Rutgers Gardens (130 acres) is the official botanic garden of Rutgers University, located on the outskirts of Cook Campus, at 112 Ryders Lane, North Brunswick, New Jersey. The grounds include 60 acres of designed beds, specialty gardens, tree and shrub collections, lawns, and walking paths, as well as the adjoining 70-acre Frank G. Helyar Woods. A place of learning and beauty, Rutgers Gardens strives to provide a fun, educational, and engaging place for students, faculty, and the community to enjoy the natural world. The gardens are open year-round, without fee, and feature horticultural collections arranged in garden settings. In 2017 it was granted landmark status by the American Society for Horticultural Science.

The Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University was established in 1956 with an endowment from Florence Peshine Eagleton (1870–1953), and it focuses on state and national politics through education and public service. Ruth Mandel served as director for over 20 years, before being succeeded in that role by John Farmer Jr. in September, 2019. The Institute is located at the Cook-Douglass Campus in New Brunswick, New Jersey and is housed at Wood Lawn, which listed is the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places.

Wood Lawn is a historic house on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey. It was built by Colonel James Neilson in 1830. The last major change was made by McKim, Mead & White in 1905. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 8, 1978, for its significance in architecture and education. It is used by the Eagleton Institute of Politics.

The New Jersey Folk Festival (NJFF) is an annual folk music and cultural festival held at the Eagleton Institute of Politics (the Great Lawn) on the Douglass Campus at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey on Rutgers Day. It is a free, non-profit family event held every year on the last Saturday in April from 10am - 6pm, rain or shine. It coincides with Rutgers Agricultural Field Day held on the adjacent Cook Campus. Beginning in 2009, both the New Jersey Folk Festival and Ag Field Day are held as a major part of Rutgers Day. This year's theme is On the Move: Transportation and Migration and will be taking place on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. The 48th annual NJFF is the first in-person festival since 2019, and was held virtually for the 2020 and 2021 festivals. The American Studies Department of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is the presenting sponsor of the New Jersey Folk Festival. The New Jersey Folk Festival, Inc. is also 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the State of New Jersey exempt from federal taxation.
