Platter is an unincorporated community in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States. Platter has a post office with the ZIP code 74753. The town was named after an A.F. Platter, who was a businessman from Denison, Texas.

Cartwright is an unincorporated rural community and census-designated place in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 609. The post office opened April 25, 1940, and it is one of the newest communities in Bryan County. The ZIP code is 74731. It is named for Congressman Wilburn Cartwright. Cartwright was established because of the construction of Denison Dam when a community of shelters for workmen was erected.

Preston, also known as Preston Bend, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located on the Red River in Grayson County, Texas, United States. It grew in the 19th century at the intersection of several military and trade roads and was an important crossing on the Shawnee cattle trail. Preston lost prominence after the MK&T railroad bypassed the town to the east, leading to a decline in traveler and cattle drive traffic. Much of its former town site is submerged beneath the waters of Lake Texoma. Its population was 2,096 as of the 2010 census.

Lake Texoma is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States, the 12th-largest US Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) lake, and the largest in USACE Tulsa District. Lake Texoma is formed by Denison Dam on the Red River in Bryan County, Oklahoma, and Grayson County, Texas, about 726 miles (1,168 km) upstream from the mouth of the river. It is located at the confluence of the Red and Washita Rivers. The project was completed in 1944. The damsite is about 5 miles (8.0 km) northwest of Denison, Texas, and 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Durant, Oklahoma. Lake Texoma is the most developed and most popular lake within the USACE Tulsa District, attracting around 6 million visitors a year. Oklahoma has more of the lake within its boundaries than Texas.

Colbert is a town in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,140 at the 2010 census, a 7 percent increase over the figure of 1,065 recorded in 2000. It was incorporated in 1939.

Denison Dam, also known as Lake Texoma Dam, is a dam located on the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma that impounds Lake Texoma. The purpose of the dam is flood control, water supply, hydroelectric power production, river regulation, navigation and recreation. It was also designated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1993.

Eisenhower State Park is a state park located in Grayson County, Texas, northwest of Denison, Texas on the shores of Lake Texoma. The park is 423.1 acres (171 ha).

Colbert's Ferry was an important Red River crossing between Texas and Indian Territory from about 1853 to 1899. Both the Texas Road and the Butterfield Overland Mail route crossed here. It was located on the Texas Road about 3 miles (4.8 km) southeast of present–day Colbert, Bryan County, Oklahoma. The nearest town on the Texas side of the river is Denison. The Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway (MK&T) built a railroad bridge nearby across the Red River in 1872, which caused Colbert's Ferry to lose a significant amount of traffic. Frank Colbert, the ferry owner, responded by building his own toll bridge, which replaced the ferry. A flood soon washed away both bridges. Meanwhile, he resumed operating the ferry.

Mead is a town in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 122 at the 2010 census, compared to 123 in 2000. Mead was originally named for C.W. Meade, the first postmaster, but the town later dropped the final "e" of the name.

In the early 1870s Red River City was a settlement in North Texas, just south of the Red River, which forms the border with the state of Oklahoma. With a population of about 50, it was served by a post office in 1873 and 1874.In 1873 the Houston and Texas Central Railway line reached Red River City, where it connected with the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. This junction formed an all-railroad route from the main cities of Texas to St. Louis, Missouri and the Eastern United States. The railway crossed the Red River nearby over the Colbert Bridge, which was also completed in 1873, but destroyed by flooding that same year. The line reopened with the second Colbert Bridge in 1892, but it too was destroyed by flooding in 1908. The route was changed for the third bridge at Carpenters Bluff, which opened in 1910.Red River City subsequently became part of Denison, Texas in Grayson County.

Fisher's Station, also known as Carriage Point, was a stage stand on the old Butterfield Overland Mail route and the Texas Road in Indian Territory. It was located at the head of Island Bayou in what is now Bryan County, Oklahoma. Island Bayou was then the dividing line between the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations. From March 23, 1869, to February 6, 1871, the Carriage Point post office existed at the site and it is generally referred to by that name in the area. The Fishers were a well known Choctaw family. Fisher's Station (Carriage Point) was added to the National Register of Historic Places (#72001058) in 1972.

Kiersey or Keirsey, also known as Mead Junction, is an unincorporated community in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located about five mile west of Durant via US Route 70, then north on N3680 Rd (Silo Rd). The town had a post office from June 16, 1904, until November 30, 1920. Keirsey was named after William D. Keirsey, who was a local rancher.
