Fisher's Station, also known as Carriage Point, was a stage stand on the old Butterfield Overland Mail route and the Texas Road in Indian Territory. It was located at the head of Island Bayou in what is now Bryan County, Oklahoma. Island Bayou was then the dividing line between the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations. From March 23, 1869, to February 6, 1871, the Carriage Point post office existed at the site and it is generally referred to by that name in the area. The Fishers were a well known Choctaw family. Fisher's Station (Carriage Point) was added to the National Register of Historic Places (#72001058) in 1972.

Mead is a town in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 122 at the 2010 census, compared to 123 in 2000. Mead was originally named for C.W. Meade, the first postmaster, but the town later dropped the final "e" of the name.

AllianceHealth Durant, is a hospital located at 1800 University Boulevard in Durant, Oklahoma. The hospital was founded in 1987, replacing the older Bryan Memorial Hospital. It was formerly known as the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Presbyterian College (also known as Oklahoma Presbyterian College for Girls) is a historic Presbyterian school at 601 N. 16th Street in Durant, Oklahoma. The site, including two contributing buildings, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.The main building is a three-story building, built during 1909-1910 of red brick with white stone trim. It is 50 by 160 feet (15 m × 49 m) in plan and served as a combination school and dormitory, and was built at cost of $100,000.The second building, built in 1918, is also three stories but is more modest, and is 32 by 80 feet (9.8 m × 24.4 m) in plan.In 1976 the two buildings served as headquarters and museum of the Red River Valley Historical Society.Beginning in 1975, the building functioned as the Choctaw Nation's administrative headquarters until 2018 when the headquarters was relocated to a newly constructed building. The building still houses some Choctaw Nation employees, but remains largely empty since the move.

Since the construction of the original casino, it has since then sparked growth for the Choctaw gaming industry. In 1988, the voters of the state of Oklahoma passed a law that allowed 3 different classes of gambling in the state of Oklahoma. Choctaw Casino Bingo was one of the first facilities to take advantage of the new law. Changes in the law led to the introduction of Las Vegas style slot machines and video games as well as table games including Blackjack and Poker. Choctaw Casino Bingo is owned and operated by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Profits contribute to many development programs used to benefit local communities and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is a chain of seven Native American casinos and hotels located in Oklahoma, owned and operated by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The original location in Durant has 218,844 sq ft (20,331.3 m2) of gaming floor, over 7,600 slot machines, and 1,616 hotel rooms. The resort has three casinos and three hotels within the complex. The South Casino was completed in 2006 with 108,844 sq ft (10,111.9 m2) of floor space, and the North Casino was completed in 2010 with 110,000 sq ft (10,000 m2) more floor space. Choctaw Inn has 101 hotel rooms, the Grand Tower has 204,000 sq ft (19,000 m2) of floor space, 330 rooms and suites, and is 12 floors tall. The Spa Tower was opened in 2015 as another expansion for the resort adding 286 rooms and suites. The latest Sky Tower adds 1,000 hotel rooms and suites to the property and is part of the latest expansion opened in 2021. The $860 million resort is the flagship of the Choctaw Nation gaming industry.

Durant () is a city in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States that serves as the headquarters of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The population was 18,589 in the 2020 census. Durant is the principal city of the Durant Micropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 46,067 in 2020. The city is the largest in the Choctaw Nation, ranking ahead of McAlester and Poteau. Durant is also part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Combined Statistical Area, anchoring the northern edge.The city was founded by Dixon Durant, a Choctaw who lived in the area, after the MK&T railroad came through the Indian Territory in the early 1870s. It became the county seat of Bryan County in 1907 after Oklahoma statehood. Durant is home to Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the headquarters of the Choctaw Nation. The city is officially known as the Magnolia Capital of Oklahoma. The city and its micropolitan are a major part of the Texoma region.

The Robert E. Lee School, at Ninth and Louisiana Streets in Durant, Oklahoma, was built in 1937. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is part of the Durant Independent School District. It is a one-story L-shaped building, 189 by 114 feet (58 m × 35 m) in plan, with a buff brick exterior, with brick laid in running bond. It has a flat roof with parapets and towers capped by Spanish tile roofs. It was built as a Works Progress Administration project.According to its National Register nomination, "The school building is significant because construction of it enabled destitute laborers in the Durant area to find useful employment after months, if not years, of unemployment. Also the structure created an educational environment more conducive to learning. As a WPA school building, the structure is notable for its stylistic allusion to Spanish colonial architecture and its use of brick building materials. It also suggests the relative "prosperity" of urban school districts as opposed to those in rural areas. Within the community the building is unique architecturally because of its style and workmanship."Albert S. Ross is credited as architect of the project.

Calera is a town in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States, located five miles south of Durant and 10 miles north of the Oklahoma-Texas state line. The population was 2,906 at the 2020 census, an increase of 34.2 percent over the figure of 2,164 recorded in 2010 indicating that Calera is experiencing larger growth than Durant and other surrounding areas. It is part of the Durant Micropolitan Area, as well as being part of the Texoma region.
