College railway station (Scotland)

High Street railway station serves High Street in Glasgow, Scotland and the surrounding area, which includes Townhead, the Merchant City, as well the western fringes of Dennistoun and Calton. The station is managed by ScotRail and is served by trains on the North Clyde Line. It is located in the eastern part of the city centre, with Strathclyde University, Glasgow Cathedral and Glasgow Royal Infirmary being major institutions located nearby.

Collegelands is part of a £200m development project in the heart of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is one of the largest regeneration projects in the United Kingdom. It was opened in 2012. The location, which near to the first buildings of the University of Glasgow, takes up 1.1m square feet on the corner of Duke Street and High Street. Collegelands, latterly known as the College Goods Railway Yard, is Glasgow's first new city centre quarter in several years. The margin wall of the former College Goods Yard railway station on Duke Street has been reserved, in affirmation to the history of the site. The existing High Street railway station is directly to the west of the development. The development has been created through a partnership between Glasgow City Council and Watkin Dawn Group. The city's economy was impacted by over £80million during the first phase of Collegelands, as over 400 construction jobs were created.This development comprises 588 student study bedrooms including 565 en-suite bedrooms and 23 self-contained studio flats over nine storeys, with some ground floor retail units. Within the buildings footmark two courtyards were formed. It is situated on Havannah Street. Collegelands accommodates over 400 undergraduate and postgraduate University of Strathclyde students.The facility is managed by Fresh Student Living which houses over 12,000 students in over 40 university and college locations across the UK.The development has attracted criticism from commentators for its unremarkable construction style in an area of high local aesthetic and historic value.

High Street is the oldest, and one of the most historically significant, streets in Glasgow, Scotland. Originally the city's main street in medieval times, it formed a direct north–south artery between the Cathedral of St. Mungo (later Glasgow Cathedral) in the north, to Glasgow Cross and the banks of the River Clyde. The High Street now stops at Glasgow Cross, with the southern continuation being the Saltmarket.

The University of Strathclyde Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) is a centre for technological research based in Glasgow, Scotland. The building, designed by BDP, is located on the John Anderson Campus's southern edge within the city centre's Merchant City district.

The University of Strathclyde (Scottish Gaelic: Oilthigh Shrath Chluaidh) is a public research university located in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1796 as the Andersonian Institute, it is Glasgow's second-oldest university, having received its royal charter in 1964 as the first technological university in the United Kingdom. Taking its name from the historic Kingdom of Strathclyde, it is Scotland's third-largest university by number of students, with students and staff from over 100 countries.The institution was named University of the Year 2012 by Times Higher Education and again in 2019, becoming the first university to receive this award twice. The annual income of the institution for 2021–22 was £387.8 million of which £108.3 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £520.4 million.

The Lock Hospital for Women was a hospital in Glasgow for women suffering from venereal disease.

The Queens Theatre was a theatre in Glasgow, Scotland, situated in Watson Street near Glasgow Cross. It was built in the 1870s to cater for working class Glaswegians. The theatre opened as the Star Hall. It went on to be renamed the Shakespeare Music Hall, New Star Theatre of Varieties and the Peoples Palace Theatre before being named the Queens Theatre in 1897. The theatre was destroyed by fire in 1952.

Gallowgate railway station was a station on the City Union Line in Glasgow, Scotland. It was situated a short distance east of Glasgow Cross at the junction of Gallowgate and East Nile Street, today Molendinar Street. The station opened on 18 December 1870, then closed and shortly reopened in 1871. It closed permanently on 1 October 1902. Workmen’s service operated until 1926 or 1934. The bridge which carried the tracks to the station remains standing, as the line is still used by empty stock passengers trains to and from Shields Depot south of the River Clyde and occasional freight trains.

Strathclyde Law School was established in 1964 and operates within the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, Scotland. The Law School currently operates from the Lord Hope Building (named after Lord Hope of Craighead, former Chancellor of the University and former Deputy President of the UK Supreme Court). The Law School offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research degrees.

The Livingstone Tower is a prominent high rise building in Glasgow, Scotland and is a part of the University of Strathclyde's John Anderson Campus. The building was named after David Livingstone. The address of the building is 26 Richmond Street, Glasgow. The building is a notable landmark in the eastern side of the city centre, and its high position on the drumlin of Rottenrow means it can be seen from some considerable distance throughout the city's East End. It was also among the earliest high-rise commercial buildings to go up in the city centre in the post-war period, pre-dated only by St Andrew's House (1964), Fleming House (1961), and the Royal Stuart Hotel (1963)—the latter having been owned by Strathclyde University in the 1980s and early 1990s as a student hall of residence.

The Barony Hall, previously known as Barony Church, is a red sandstone Victorian neo-Gothic-style building on Castle Street in the Townhead area of Glasgow, Scotland, near Glasgow Cathedral, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the city's oldest surviving house, Provand's Lordship. The original or Old Barony Church was built as a part of the Barony Parish in Glasgow by architect, James Adams. It opened in 1799 and served ceremonial and other congregational purposes. The replacement for the old building was designed by J. J. Burnet & J. A. Campbell and raised in 1889, and incorporated architectural artifacts from the old church and a number of other relics.The New Barony Church was acquired by the University of Strathclyde in 1986. It was restored in 1989 and is now a ceremonial hall and events venue known as the Barony Hall. It is one of the few buildings in the area that survived the slum clearances of the 1950s and 1960s as part of the Townhead 'Comprehensive Development Area' (CDA).

The Andersonian Library is the university library of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Established in 1796, it is one of the largest of its type in Scotland. Access to the Library is restricted to Strathclyde student and other library membership card holders., retired staff and corporate members.
