Sunderland Civic Centre was a municipal building in the Burdon Road in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. It was the headquarters of Sunderland City Council until November 2021.

Stockton Road United Reformed Church (formerly St George's with Trinity and St James Church (abbreviated to St George's)) is a United Reformed church in the Ashbrooke area of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. Originally a Presbyterian church, it was constructed by John Bennie Wilson of Glasgow in 1888–90, to replace a former chapel on Villiers Street which was too small for the congregation. Much of the funding was provided by a local shipowner, (later Sir) Robert Appleby Bartram, who laid the foundation stone on 7 February 1889. The church was constructed of red sandstone from Dumfries and modelled upon Crescent Church, Belfast.In 2007 the congregation merged with the former West Park United Reformed Church, and from 2014 chose to use the St. George's building and sell the West Park building.

Sunderland High School was a mixed private day school located in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. Founded in 1883 as the oldest girls' senior school in Sunderland, it merged with a local boys' school to become the current coeducational school. A junior school was later added and is located on a separate site nearby. It is owned by the United Church Schools Trust. The school closed at the end of the 2016 Summer term.

Fawcett Street railway station served the city of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England from 1853 to 1879 on the Penshaw branch line.

Park Lane is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the port city of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 28 April 2002, following the opening of the extension from Pelaw to South Hylton.

ARTARENA is an "art film museum" planned for Sunderland in northeast England. It is intended to show items from the Roland Collection of Films on Art on 45 screens; visitors will wander between them wearing headphones that switch to the appropriate soundtrack. The original concept called for a futuristic €35m building in London. This gave way to a £2m reconstruction of the West Park United Reformed church on Stockton Road in Sunderland, which is planned to open in April 2012. Visitors will pay a small fee to get in and then rent headphones by the hour; over 160,000 are expected in the first year.

Wearside () is a built-up area in County Durham and Tyne and Wear, England. It is named after the River Wear which flows through it and traditionally all in the County of Durham. In the 2011 census, its official name was the Sunderland Built-up area since Sunderland is its largest part, the urban area extends to the surrounding City of Sunderland district, small parts of County Durham district and a small part of the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead. Notable towns in the urban area include Birtley, Chester le Street, Hetton le Hole, Houghton le Spring and Washington.

Sunderland Central is a constituency in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. It is represented by the Labour Party MP Julie Elliott, who has held the seat since its creation in 2010.

The Sunderland Art Gallery is an art gallery based within the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens centre, in Sunderland City Centre. The collection of paintings includes works by the British artist, L.S. Lowry, many with local significance. For example, River Wear at Sunderland (1961) and Girl in a Red Hat on a Promenade (1972) – an enigmatic piece composed at Seaburn.

The Victoria Hall disaster occurred on 16 June 1883 at the Victoria Hall in Sunderland, England, when the distribution of free toys caused a crowd crush resulting in 183 children (aged between 3 and 14 years old) to be crushed to death due to compressive asphyxia.

Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens is a municipal museum in Sunderland, England. It contains the only known British example of a gliding reptile, the oldest known vertebrate capable of gliding flight. The exhibit was discovered in Eppleton quarry. The museum has a Designated Collection of national importance.

The Sunderland Synagogue is a former synagogue building in Sunderland, England. The synagogue, on Ryhope Road, was designed by architect Marcus Kenneth Glass, constructed by Joseph Huntley & Son, and completed in 1928. It is the last surviving synagogue to be designed by Glass. The synagogue was listed as a Grade II historic structure in 1999. The congregation ceased meeting in 2006. The building is owned by a Jewish charitable trust which offered the building for sale or lease in 2009. Businessman George Fraser bought the synagogue in 2010. Fraser intends to convert the building into 12 luxury apartments whilst retaining the exterior but this has not yet been approved. Councillor Mel Spedding said that the planned conversion was considered to be inappropriate, and a planning application for it had not been received. Spedding stated that he would be happy to discuss the building's future with the owner. As of May 2021 the building remained empty.Architectural historian Sharman Kadish describes the synagogue's colorful design as a blend of Byzantine revival and "cinematic art deco style." The exterior is an Art Deco interpretation of Byzantine style, with an oversized, arched entrance, paired arched doorways, polychrome brickwork and basket capitals.Kadish describes the interior as "spanned by a deep barrel vault over the central aisle, which was originally painted to imitate a star-spangled sky. The gallery runs around three sides carried on slender iron columns with palmette capitals. The plasterwork Ark canopy is highly decorative, painted and gilded. It is classical in form but features decoration of Islamic and Byzantine origin, especially the cushion capitals to the columns and the chevron patterns on the shafts ..."The synagogue replaced the original Adath Yeshurun on Moor Street in the East End, which was open from 1862 to 1928. It became Sunderland's main place of Jewish worship once the former Sunderland Beth Hamedresh, on the corner of Mowbray Road and The Oaks West, closed in 1984.
