The Shire of Barrabool was a local government area about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 575.18 square kilometres (222.1 sq mi), and existed from 1853 until 1994.

The Australian National Surfing Museum, located in Torquay, Victoria, is widely cited as hosting the world's largest surfing and beach culture museum. It is said to be one of "the most significant centres of world surfing heritage" by the International Surfing Association.

Point Danger is a limestone headland on the coast of south-western Victoria, Australia on the northern side of Bass Strait. It is adjacent to the coastal town of Torquay, separating the town's front and back surfing beaches. It is the site of Torquay's war memorial and a venue for ANZAC Day services.

The Joseph H Scammell was a Canadian sailing ship that was built at Eatonville, Nova Scotia in 1884 and shipwrecked at Point Danger, Torquay, Victoria, Australia in 1891. Her wreck triggered a large scale episode of shipwreck pilfering and smuggling.

The Offshore Festival was a camp-out rock and alternative music festival held during Easter at a farm near Torquay, Victoria, Australia from the late 1990s to 2001. It was run by the same organisers as the Falls Festival, held at nearby Lorne on New Year's Eve. It interlinked with the Rip Curl Pro surfing event, held at nearby Bells Beach and festival ticketholders had free admission to the surfing event. The festival reached its peak in 2000, when it sold a capacity of 20,000 tickets. The organizers moved the event to the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds (home of the Big Day Out) the following year.

Bells Beach is a coastal locality of Victoria, Australia in Surf Coast Shire and a renowned surf beach, located 100 km south-west of Melbourne, on the Great Ocean Road near the towns of Torquay and Jan Juc. It is named after William Bell, a Geelong businessman and grazier, who owned much of the property there from the 1840s. Many records wrongly accredit the location's name to John Calvert Bell of the family that took up a pastoral run there much later in 1905 and built the 'Addiscot' homestead. John Calvert Bell was, before that time, a resident at Calder Park, Mount Duneed, and not related to William Bell of Bells Beach. The beach and coastal reserve are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. In the 2016 Census, there were 130 people in Bells Beach, 88.7% of whom were born in Australia and 94.5% of whom spoke only English at home.

Bellbrae is a bounded rural locality in Victoria, Australia located just off the Great Ocean Road between Torquay and Anglesea. At the 2016 census, Bellbrae had a population of 865.

Point Impossible Beach is a clothes-optional beach located at Torquay, west coast, in the State of Victoria, Australia. It is designated as a legal nudist beach under the Nudity (Prescribed Areas) Act 1983.
