The Welsh Presbyterian Church is a historic former church in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. Used as a church only for a few decades, the building has seen many uses over the ensuing decades, ranging from commercial to government-affiliated to social services. Because of its architecture, the building has been named a historic site. Founded in 1849, the Welsh Presbyterian Church first worshipped one block away from its second location. Work began on the second church building in 1887 and was finished in the following year. This building, in turn, closed in 1919 after the congregation moved farther away, and for many years the property was employed for commercial purposes. Among its tenants since that time have been the offices of Commercial Motor Freight, a factory, a store of the M.C. Lilley Company, and the offices of the Community Action Organization for the Columbus metropolitan area.Built of brick, the Romanesque Revival building rests on a foundation of limestone, is covered with a slate roof, and features elements of sandstone. Two entrances are placed on the front of the building: one at the far left, and one at the far right, with large windows between them. The roof is steeply gabled, with an oculus near the peak on the front gable, while the single-story side walls feature both small and large windows at various heights. Cylindrical components are placed at the corners as well as occasional points on the facade. These elements combine to produce somewhat of the appearance of a fortress with turrets and buttresses.In 1980, the Welsh Presbyterian Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, qualifying because of its architecture. Its significance derives partly from its location, as almost no 19th-century structures have survived in its immediate vicinity, and comparable examples of Romanesque Revival architecture are rare in downtown Columbus. The building became home to Faith Mission, a homeless shelter affiliated with Lutheran Social Services, in 1989. The shelter operated in the space until 2012, when it traded the church building to the Edwards Cos. for a larger warehouse nearby, where the shelter operates today. The Edwards Cos. redeveloped the space, utilizing historic tax credits, to become a leasing office and community space for the Normandy apartment complex.

ART, also known as Big Red Art, is a 1999 steel sculpture by Doris Shlayn, installed outside the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, United States. It was installed on June 23, 2001.The red-colored artwork, which spells out the word "ART", is 100 feet (30 m) tall and weighs 31 tons. The "A" spans 101 ft and straddles East Gay Street, and cars and pedestrians can pass underneath.

Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) is a private art school in Columbus, Ohio. It was founded in 1879 as the Columbus Art School and is one of the oldest private art and design colleges in the United States. Located in downtown Columbus, CCAD's campus consists of 14 buildings (including 2 residence halls) on 9 acres (36,000 m2) and is adjacent to the Columbus Museum of Art. Approximately 1,090 full-time students are enrolled.

The Columbus International Film + Animation Festival is a Columbus, Ohio, United States annual film festival which is designed to encourage and promote the use of film and video in all forms of education and communication. It is the first and oldest film festival in the United States, having existed since 1952. The 2020 festival will be held April 17-18, 2020, in Columbus, OH at the Gateway Film Center. The present organization has been known as the Columbus International Film + Animation Festival since the 2018. As a competitive festival, it was formally known as 'The Chris Awards'. Saint Patrick Church is a historic building and the second-oldest Catholic church building in Columbus, Ohio. Located in the Discovery District neighborhood, the structure served as the pro-cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus until the consecration of Saint Joseph Cathedral. It has been served by priests of the Dominican Order since 1885 and is currently home to an active parish.

The Alfred Kelley mansion was a historic house in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was the home of Alfred Kelley, built in 1838. The house stayed in the family for decades, and was later an Ohio governor's mansion, and further on, a Catholic school. It was abandoned in the 1950s, and was deconstructed in 1961. A preservation committee tried to move and rebuild the house; after years and several moves, the stone remnants were placed at the Hale Farm and Village near Akron in 1973, where they remain today.

The Christopher Inn was a hotel in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The cylindrical mid-century modern hotel had 16 floors, 137 wedge-shaped rooms, and modern interiors at the time. The hotel operated from 1963 to 1988, when it was demolished. The site is now used as a surface parking lot.

The Discovery District is a special improvement district in downtown Columbus, Ohio, the home of Columbus State Community College, Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus Museum of Art, and Columbus Metropolitan Library. It is considered a cultural district because of its close proximity to higher educational campuses and art destinations. It was named to imply that the area is full of possibility due to the number of learning and creative campuses in this small area. "Culture, art, and academia converge and present the Discovery District." While not typically viewed as the most prominent Columbus neighborhood, the density of academic and arts-based institutions in this area are what make this creative campus unique.

The Washington Gladden Social Justice Park is a public park in the Discovery District of Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The park was dedicated in 2018. It is considered the first social justice park in the United States.

Franklin County Memorial Hall, also known simply as Memorial Hall, is an office building, multi-use facility, and memorial for war dead in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The building is best-known today as the headquarters of Franklin County Public Health.

The First Congregational Church is a Congregational church located in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The building was listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1982 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.The church congregation was formed in 1852. It was made up of a group of abolitionists, a movement that gained traction among Christians in the 1840s. The abolitionists decided to leave the Second Presbyterian Church in Columbus to found their own Congregational community. Thus 42 people transferred church membership on September 24, 1852. Their first church was a frame chapel at the northeast corner of Third Street and Lynn Alley. It was built using a $1,000 loan from the Second Presbyterian Church. The first service was on September 26, 1852, and the charter of organization was signed September 29, 1852. Initially known as the Third Presbyterian Church, the church was renamed to its current title in 1856. With membership increasing, the congregation dedicated a new church building on December 23, 1857, at 73 East Broad Street. Following further membership growth, the congregation dedicated its current Gothic Revival cathedral on December 6, 1931.The church is known for Washington Gladden, minister there for 36 years. Gladden was an early leader of the Social Gospel and Progressive movements. In 2018, the church led the creation of the neighboring Washington Gladden Social Justice Park, honoring Gladden and other social justice leaders of the city. The 18,000 sq ft (1,700 m2) of park land was already owned by the church, which entered into a public-private partnership to create the space. It is considered the first social justice park in the country.

Capital University Law School is an ABA-accredited private law school located in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The law school is affiliated with Capital University, the oldest university in Central Ohio and one of the oldest and largest Lutheran-affiliated universities in North America.The school was voted a "Best Value Law School" on the basis of tuition by the National Jurist magazine in 2009. In 2011, the National Jurist magazine, as well as PreLaw magazine named Capital as one of the nation’s top law schools in preparing students for legal careers in public service. In 2012, the magazines listed Capital as one of the nation’s top law schools in terms of preparing its students for the bar exam. In 2014, Capital was named to the National Jurist Magazine's "Honor Roll" of law schools that provide practical legal education. In 2015, Capital was once again listed in the National Jurist Magazine's "Honor Roll" of law schools that deliver a practical, experiential legal education. In 2019, PreLaw magazine listed Capital Law as one of the top law schools in the country for practical training and alternate dispute resolution. PreLaw magazine further listed Capital as one of the top law schools for criminal law in 2019. In 2020, US News & World Report ranked Capital University 146 of 192, and 148 of 194 for 2022.
