Quarter railway station

Quarter is a village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, on the hill above the Clyde Valley.

Hamilton (Scottish Gaelic: Hamaltan) was a local government district in the Strathclyde region of Scotland from 1975 to 1996, lying to the south-east of the regional capital Glasgow.

Earnock was an ancient estate in an area south of Hamilton in Lanarkshire, Scotland. It extended from the western side of Strathaven Road to the western extremity of the Parish of Hamilton.

Woodhead in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire lies south of Little Earnock, and north of Meikle Earnock. There is a pub, The Woodhead, and the main area in Woodhead is Woodhead Green. The houses are largely local authority homes probably around 40–50 years old; about 28% are social housing (rented from the council). There is a frequent bus service from Woodhead to Hamilton bus station and Glasgow.

Barncluith is an area of Hamilton in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Barncluith forms the south-eastern part of the town, between the urban centre and the Avon Water. It lies either side of Carlisle Road (A72), which leads out of Hamilton to Chatelherault Country Park, Larkhall and the Clyde Valley. The name derives from "Baron's Cleugh", a cleugh being a ravine.Barncluith Primary School closed in the 1990s. The school building stands at the corner of Miller Street and Townhead Street, and is now the Barncluith Business Centre. The parish church is St. John's Centre on Duke Street.

Cadzow Castle, now in ruins, was constructed between 1500 and 1550 at a site one mile south-east of the centre of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The earlier medieval settlement of Hamilton was formerly known as Cadzow or Cadyou (Middle Scots: Cadȝow), until it was renamed in 1455 in honour of James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton. The castle sits above a gorge overlooking the Avon Water in what is now Chatelherault Country Park, but was previously the hunting and pleasure grounds of the Duke of Hamilton's estate of Hamilton Palace - this area being known as Hamilton High Parks. The ruin is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Hamilton Central railway station serves Hamilton, South Lanarkshire in Scotland, lying on the Argyle Line. It is situated in the town centre, adjacent to the Hamilton bus station, as well as the Regent Shopping Centre, Hamilton's main shopping location. In March 2007, SPT announced a redevelopment of the bus and railway stations into a combined interchange, which was completed in winter 2012.

Glassford (listen ; locally known as The Glesart listen ) is a small village located 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Hamilton, and 3 kilometres (2 mi) north-east of Strathaven, in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It has a population of roughly 500–600 people. Features include the 19th-century Parish Church, and the remains of the 17th-century church, both of which are category B listed buildings. The Avon Water offers fishing and walks. Local businesses include the Glassford Inn and the Fortune Dragon Chinese restaurant. the village is also famous for the annual Beer and gin Festival held on the last saturday in March, The local No.13 or No 256 bus service comes through the village once every hour.

Hamilton Grammar School is a secondary school serving Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Its predecessors can trace their history back to 1452. With the introduction of comprehensive schools and the abolition of selective schools such as Hamilton Academy in the early-1970s, Hamilton Grammar School was formed as a new school, using the buildings of the former Hamilton Academy and the nearby St. John's Grammar School.The current Hamilton Grammar building was built in 1913 as the Hamilton Academy building. The building underwent an £8,000,000 improvement in 1995, when the original building was retained and fully renovated, with an additional building extension attached to the rear. The new building contains science and technical facilities. In 2004, a communication development unit was added to the school. A new Physical Education centre was built at the rear of the school. Building work started in June 2008 and was completed for August 2009. This replaced the old Physical Education department which was at the back of St John's Primary School. The current head teacher is Graeme Sives who joined the school on 3 May 2016, replacing the retired Head Teacher, Colin Stewart.Notable former pupils include The Reverend Scott J Brown, formerly Chaplain of the Fleet, Royal Navy who was a pupil from 1980 to 1985 and Scottish international footballer Davie Cooper.
