League Park (Cincinnati)

Palace of the Fans was a Major League baseball park located in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was the home of the Cincinnati Reds from 1902 through 1911. The ballpark was on an asymmetrical block bounded by Findlay Street (south), Western Avenue (northeast, angling), York Street (north) and McLean Avenue (west). The "Findlay and Western" intersection was the home field of the Reds from 1884 through June 24, 1970, when the team moved to Riverfront Stadium. The location of the diamond and consequently the main grandstand seating area was shifted several times during the 86½ seasons that the Reds played there. The Palace of the Fans was actually the second of three parks that stood on the site: 1884–1901: League Park 1902–1911: Palace of the Fans 1912–1970: Redland Field, renamed Crosley Field in 1934

Crosley Field was a Major League Baseball park in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was the home field of the National League's Cincinnati Reds from 1912 through June 24, 1970, and the original Cincinnati Bengals football team, members of the second (1937) and third American Football League (1940–41). It was not the original home of the current NFL franchise of the same name: the home of those Bengals in 1968 and 1969 was nearby Nippert Stadium, located on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. Crosley Field was on an asymmetrical block bounded by Findlay Street (south), Western Avenue (northeast, angling), Dalton Avenue (east), York Street (north) and McLean Avenue (west) in the Queensgate section of the city. Crosley has the distinction of being the first major-league park with lights for playing night games. The "Findlay and Western" intersection was the home field of the Reds from 1884 until mid-season 1970, when the team moved to Riverfront Stadium. The location of the diamond and consequently the main grandstand seating area was shifted several times during the 86+1⁄2 seasons that the Reds played at the site. The Bank Street Grounds is a former baseball park located in Cincinnati. The park was home to three major league baseball teams. The National League Cincinnati Stars club in 1880, the current Cincinnati Reds franchise from 1882 to 1883 and the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds of the Union Association in 1884. It succeeded the Avenue Grounds as the home site for professional ball in the Queen City.

Police Station Five was a historic police station in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. Constructed in the 1890s to serve both regular police and the city's patrol service, it was named a historic site in the late twentieth century, but historic designation was unable to save it from destruction.

The Dayton Street Historic District is located in the Old West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It was once known as "Millionaires' Row" for the prominent industrialists who resided in a row of opulent mansions built between 1850 and 1890. It is bounded by Bank Street, Poplar Street, Linn Street, and Winchell Avenue. The district was designated and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 25, 1973. Due to its location well north of Cincinnati when the city was founded, the district occupies land that was originally used by small farmers, both for crop fields and for livestock pasture; some of the massive stockyards in the city once known as "Porkopolis" were located nearby, although even farther from the original city. As the city grew, wealthy residents built country houses within the district's boundaries, beginning c. 1840 and continuing until the Civil War era. Significant development began c. 1860 and continued for the next two decades. Typical buildings erected during this time are multi-story Italianate residences constructed of brick or stone, similar to townhouses but detached. At the neighborhood's height, the residents were wealthy businessmen, most of whom were active in the city's meatpacking and brewing industries, and many of these men were careful to beautify their homes with elements such as stone retaining walls and fences of cast iron; while much of the stonework and ironwork has been lost, large amounts of both remain. The entire historic district embraces approximately four hundred contributing properties, almost all single-family houses, although there are occasional exceptions; the former Police Station No. 5 on York Street was included. The Hauck House Museum is located at 812 Dayton Street and the Mayor George Hatch House is located at 830 Dayton Street.

The Cincinnati History Museum is an urban history museum in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It opened in 1990 at the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. The museum features the recreated Cincinnati Public Landing from the mid 1860s and an exhibit covering Cincinnati's role in World War II. Cincinnati In Motion is a scale model representation of Downtown Cincinnati in the 1940s featuring working streetcars.

The Duke Energy Children's Museum, formerly the Cinergy Children's Museum, is a museum in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the United States. It is one of the museums comprising the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. Opened in 1998, the museum was moved from historic Longworth Hall near downtown Cincinnati location following the Ohio River Valley Flood of March 1997 that inundated it.This children's museum features several interactive exhibits with educational value. Most are sponsored by companies that receive name and logo placement in the exhibits themselves, including Banfield Pet Hospital and Kroger. The museum is named for its main sponsor, Duke Energy. Exhibits include a child-sized town with shops and a veterinary clinic, and a farm-inspired playground for preschool-aged children and younger. Older children can engage in active play with equipment such as rope bridges, a climbing wall, an interactive machine with pedal-operated parts, and a tree house. Rooms include animal exhibits and arts and crafts activities. Temporary programs are introduced periodically. 2014 saw the opening of a new aquarium with a collection of fish and turtles.Families receiving government benefits such as food assistance may receive discounted admission.

Brighton Place is an abandoned and never used subway station of the Cincinnati Subway. The station is the last through station before the tracks go above ground along Interstate 75. The station was planned in 1916, but lacked funding to complete. Beyond this station were three more above ground stations. In 2002, the station was proposed to be part of the MetroMoves light rail system until the plans were rejected.

Ohio National Guard Armory is a registered historic building in Cincinnati, Ohio, listed in the National Register on March 3, 1980. It was designed by Samuel Hannaford who won a competition for the design, beating out Charles Crapsey and others.

The Cincinnati Museum Center is a museum complex operating out of the Cincinnati Union Terminal in the Queensgate neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. It houses museums, theater, a library, and a symphonic pipe organ, as well as special traveling exhibitions.

Cincinnati Union Terminal is an intercity train station and museum center in the Queensgate neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. Commonly abbreviated as CUT, or by its Amtrak station code, CIN, the terminal is served by Amtrak's Cardinal line, passing through Cincinnati three times weekly. The building's largest tenant is the Cincinnati Museum Center, comprising the Cincinnati History Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science, Duke Energy Children's Museum, the Cincinnati History Library and Archives, and an Omnimax theater. Union Terminal's distinctive architecture, interior design, and history have earned it several landmark designations, including as a National Historic Landmark. Its Art Deco design incorporates several contemporaneous works of art, including two of the Winold Reiss industrial murals, a set of sixteen mosaic murals depicting Cincinnati industry commissioned for the terminal in 1931. The main space in the facility, the Rotunda, has two enormous mosaic murals designed by Reiss. Taxi and bus driveways leading to and from the Rotunda are now used as museum space. The train concourse was another significant portion of the terminal, though no longer extant. It held all sixteen of Reiss's industrial murals, along with other significant art and design features. The Cincinnati Union Terminal Company was created in 1927 to build a union station to replace five local stations used by seven railroads. Construction, which lasted from 1928 to 1933, included the creation of viaducts, mail and express buildings, and utility structures: a power plant, water treatment facility, and roundhouse. Six of the railroads terminated at the station, which they jointly owned, while the Baltimore and Ohio operated through services.Initially underused, the terminal saw traffic grow through World War II, then decline over the following four decades. Several attractions were mounted over the years to supplement declining revenues. Train service fully stopped in 1972, and Amtrak moved service to a smaller station nearby. The terminal was largely dormant from 1972 to 1980; during this time, its platforms and train concourse were demolished. In 1980, the Land of Oz shopping mall was constructed inside the station; it operated until 1985. In the late 1980s, two Cincinnati museums merged and renovated the terminal, which reopened in 1990 as the Cincinnati Museum Center. Amtrak returned to the terminal in 1991, resuming its role as an intercity train station. A two-year, $228 million renovation restored the building, completed in 2018.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, was located at Findlay & Baymiller Streets, in the Old West End Neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. The church was founded in 1883. Rev. Lewis Brown served St. Luke's since 1883. Rev. Ewald Haun, was Rector in 1911. In 1890, the parish had nearly 300 communicants.[1] This was a member parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio. Located just outside the Dayton Street Historic District, upon closing the church was merged with another parish in the Avondale neighborhood of Cincinnati. The name was then taken by the former Church of the Resurrection in the neighborhood of Sayler Park.
