Cardinal is a Swiss brand of beer and a former brewery founded in 1788 by François Piller, located in Fribourg. The brewery was acquired by Feldschlösschen in 1991, which itself was acquired by the Carlsberg Group in 2000. The brewery in Fribourg was closed in 2011, and today Cardinal is brewed at the Feldschlösschen brewery in Rheinfelden, Aargau.The flagship beer of the Cardinal brand is Cardinal Blonde, a pale lager, which is heavily promoted in the country.

The Fribourg State Archives (French Archives de l'État de Fribourg or AEF) is the cantonal archives of the Canton of Fribourg, in Switzerland. It oversees the composition of historical archives concerning the cantonal administration and authorities, ensuring their conservation and facilitating their consultation.The archives conserved by the AEF are registered as a cultural property of national significance in Switzerland.

Fribourg (French: [fʁibuʁ] (listen); Arpitan: Fribôrg or Friboua [fʁiˈbwa] (listen)) or Freiburg (also called Freiburg im Üechtland [ˈfraɪbʊrɡ ɪm ˈyːəçtland]; Swiss German: Frybùrg [ˈfrib̥ʊrɡ̊]; Italian: Friburgo or Friborgo; Romansh: Friburg) is the capital of the Swiss canton of Fribourg and district of La Sarine. Its Old City, one of the best-maintained in Switzerland, sits on a small rocky hill above the valley of the Sarine. In 2018, it had a population of 38,365.

Fribourg railway station (French: Gare de Fribourg; German: Bahnhof Freiburg im Üechtland) serves the municipality of Fribourg, capital of the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. Opened in 1862, it is owned and operated by SBB-CFF-FFS. The station forms part of the Lausanne–Bern railway, which is the original portion of the Olten–Lausanne railway line (French: Ligne du Plateau suisse; German: Mittellandlinie). It is also the junction for the Yverdon-les-Bains–Payerne–Fribourg railway, and the Fribourg–Ins railway.

The Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI) is a research center in Fribourg, Switzerland focused on nanoscience. The institute is named after the Swiss entrepreneur Adolphe Merkle who created the foundation that partially funded the institute.

It offers full and/or part-time courses, leading to Bachelor, Master or further postgraduate qualifications and is structured along three departments: the Institute of Entrepreneurship and SME, the Institute of Finance, and the Institute of Social and Public Innovation. The school is located on the Pérolles campus in Fribourg, Switzerland. The school adopts a trilingual approach (French, German and English) to education as well as research and keeps close ties to partner universities around the globe, such as Swinburne University of Technology, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), University of Lorraine, University of Montpellier, Grenoble School of Management, EGADE Business School Monterrey, Université de Montréal, Université du Québec, University of Vermont, and the University of Trier among others. It also serves as a regional center of expertise for flora, fauna, and nature conservation. The Natural History Museum of Fribourg is a bilingual museum (French and German).

The University of Fribourg (French: Université de Fribourg; German: Universität Freiburg) is a public university located in Fribourg, Switzerland.The roots of the university can be traced back to 1580, when the notable Jesuit Peter Canisius founded the Collège Saint-Michel in the City of Fribourg. In 1763, an Academy of law was founded by the state of Fribourg which formed the nucleus of the present Law Faculty. The University of Fribourg was finally created in 1889 by an Act of the parliament of the Swiss Canton of Fribourg.The University of Fribourg is Switzerland's only bilingual university and offers full curricula in both French and German, two of Switzerland's national languages. Students number about 10,000; there are about 200 tenured professors and 700 other academic teaching and research personnel. The Misericorde Campus, constructed between 1939–42, was designed by the architects Honegger and Dumas, students of Swiss architect Le Corbusier.There are five faculties: Catholic theology, law, natural sciences, humanities, and economics & social sciences.

The Bible and Orient Museum (officially: BIBLE+ORIENT Museum) in Fribourg, Switzerland is the exhibition of a collection of ancient Egyptian and ancient Near Eastern miniature art, as well as a project to create a modern museum to compare biblical and extra-biblical texts with archaeological, epigraphical and iconographical data. This comparison is aimed at offering stimulating insights for the advancement of the interreligious dialog.

La Maigrauge Abbey or Magerau Abbey (French: Abbaye de la Maigrauge; German: Abtei Magerau) is a monastery of Cistercian nuns located in Fribourg, Switzerland, and founded in 1255. The abbey is situated on the Sarine River and lies on the border between French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland. The community is bilingual.
