All Saints' Church, Little Casterton

Little Casterton is a small village and civil parish in Rutland, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2001 census was 148, increasing to 218 at the 2011 census. It is about two miles (3 km) north of Stamford on a minor road that runs to the south of the River Gwash between Great Casterton and Ryhall. The village's name means 'farm/settlement which was/near a Roman site'.The parish church is dedicated to All Saints and is a Grade II* Listed Building. The east and west windows are by Christopher Whall and are in memory of former tenants of Tolethorpe Hall. The east window of 1911 depicts St Hubert, Christ in Majesty and St Francis and is in memory of Hubert Francis Christian Harrisson. The west window features St George and dates to 1919. About half a mile to the north-east is Tolethorpe Hall, a 17th-century mansion. Since 1977, it has been used as the location of an open-air Shakespearean theatre, the Rutland Theatre of the Stamford Shakespeare Company. The Little Casterton Working Weekend is held in the village each September. Veteran and vintage agricultural machinery is showcased in a working context. Combines, tractors and other equipment demonstrate harvesting, threshing, ploughing and other activities.

Ketton was a rural district in Rutland, England from 1894 to 1974, covering the east of the county. The district was named after Ketton.The rural district was formed by the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Stamford rural sanitary district in Rutland. At the same time, the remainder of Stamford RSD, which lay in Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and the Soke of Peterborough became Uffington Rural District, Easton on the Hill Rural District and Barnack Rural District respectively. The rural district council's offices remained in Stamford, Lincolnshire, outside the district.In 1960 the Local Government Commission for England proposed the abolition of the county of Rutland. The bulk of the county was to become part of Leicestershire, with Ketton RD transferred to a greatly enlarged Cambridgeshire. The plans were not carried through, however and it was not until 1974 that the rural district was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972 and merged into a single Rutland district.

Tolethope Hall in the parish of Little Casterton, Rutland, England, PE9 4BH is a country house near Stamford, Lincolnshire at grid reference TF023104. It is now the location of the Rutland Theatre of the Stamford Shakespeare Company. The hall is a Grade II* Listed Building, From the A1 Great North Road, southbound, Tolethorpe Hall may be approached from the Old Great North Road (B1081) through the village of Little Casterton. It is about two miles (3 km) from the A1. The grounds of Tolethorpe occupy about seven acres.

Tolethorpe Road Verges is a one hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest along the verges of Ryall Road between Great Casterton and Ryhall in Rutland.These grass road verges on Jurassic limestone have several regionally uncommon plants. They are dominated by tor-grass and upright brome, and there are calcareous grassland herbs such as spiny restharrow and stemless thistle.

Great Casterton is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. It is located at the crossing of the Roman Ermine Street and the River Gwash.

Casterton College, Rutland (previously Casterton Business and Enterprise College (CBEC) and Casterton Community College) is one of three secondary schools in the county of Rutland, England. Located in the village of Great Casterton, the school provides education for eleven- to sixteen-year-olds, as well as a Childcare Centre for the under fives and an adult education programme. It opened as Great Casterton Secondary Modern School in 1939. The catchment area is the eastern part of Rutland including Cottesmore, Empingham and Ketton but the college attracts many of its students from Stamford, across the Lincolnshire boundary. Prior to academy conversion, the school had been rated as ‘outstanding’ in 2010. In December 2014, Ofsted rated the college as ‘requires improvement’ in all areas (teaching, behaviour, leadership and achievement). The then principal Victoria Crosher defended the fall in rating as partly due to changes in the "C" boundary at GCSE.With the withdrawal of the Tresham Institute from providing post-16 education in Rutland, CBEC in 2010 took over responsibility for Rutland College which was renamed Rutland County College. In 2015 it consulted on moving its entire sixth form from Oakham to its Casterton site. However, in March 2017, the college announced that the sixth form would be closing as not enough students showed interest to study there. Casterton College is joined with Ryhall Primary School and also with Casterton Childcare Centre. This means that the total group of education ranges from nursery to 16: Casterton Childcare Centre, Ryhall Primary School, Casterton College.

Great Casterton Road Banks is a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the western outskirts of Stamford in Lincolnshire. It is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.This small site has calcareous grassland on Eastern Jurassic Limestone, and it is dominated by upright brome and tor-grass. It is the only site in the county which has sulphur clover, and it has two other regionally rare species, greater broomrape and perennial flax.There is access from Old Great North Road.

Stamford is a town and civil parish in the South Kesteven District of Lincolnshire, England. The population at the 2011 census was 19,701 and estimated at 20,645 in 2019. The town has 17th- and 18th-century stone buildings, older timber-framed buildings and five medieval parish churches. It is a frequent film location. In 2013 it was rated a top place to live in a survey by The Sunday Times. Its name has been passed on to Stamford, Connecticut, founded in 1641.

East Wood is a 6.6-hectare (16-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Great Casterton in Rutland.This semi-natural wood is on boulder clay of glacial origin. The dominant trees are ash, oak and wych elm, with a few wild service trees and small leaved limes. In well-drained areas there is a diverse ground flora typical of ancient woodland, and in the less well-drained parts, tufted hair-grass predominates.

The Church of St Peter and St Paul is a church in Great Casterton, Rutland. It is a Grade I listed building. The benefice is shared with Pickworth, Tickencote and Little Casterton.

The Church of St John the Evangelist is a church in Ryhall, Rutland. It is a Grade I listed building.
