Hume, Virginia

Hume Historic District is a national historic district located at Hume, Fauquier County, Virginia. It encompasses 59 contributing buildings in the rural village of Hume. The majority of the buildings in the district are vernacular in nature and are late-19th- to early- 20th-century frame dwellings of the side-passage and I-house form. It also contains three commercial buildings, a church, two schools, and a former tavern. Notable buildings include Barbee's Tavern (c. 1787), "The Dell," the parsonage for Leeds Church (c. 1855), former Captain Marshall's Store (c. 1860), the African-American Hume School (c. 1906), the former Hume Methodist Church (c. 1900), and the Hume Baptist Church (1921).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Morven is a historic home located near Markham, Fauquier County, Virginia. The house consists of four one-to-two story, three-bay, gable-roofed houses dating from the late-18th to mid-19th centuries and in the Federal style. The houses were sequentially built in log, frame and stone at right angles of each other. The house is in a cross plan, with an open courtyard in the middle. Also on the property are the contributing meat house and stone summer kitchen (c. 1820).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Markham Historic District is a national historic district located at Markham, Fauquier County, Virginia. It encompasses 44 contributing buildings and 4 contributing sites in the rural villages of Farrowsville and Markham. The majority of resources in the district were constructed in the mid- and late 19th century and include multiple dwellings, a hotel, as well as commercial buildings, and a train station. The district also contains early-20th-century dwellings. Notable buildings include Mountain View (c. 1811), Wolf's Crag (c. 1820), Rosebank (c. 1870), Markham School (1918), the 1819 stone Upper Goose Creek Church, and the former Markham Freight Station (c. 1900).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Jordan River is a 12.5-mile-long (20.1 km) headwater tributary of the Rappahannock River in northern Virginia in the United States. It rises in Shenandoah National Park and flows for its entire length in northern Rappahannock County. The river generally flows eastward and joins the Rappahannock River from the west. It is part of the watershed of Chesapeake Bay, via the Rappahannock.

Yew Hill-Robert Ashby's Tavern-Shacklett's Tavern, known before 1760 as "Watts" or "Watts Ordinary", is a historic inn and tavern located near Delaplane, Fauquier County, Virginia. The main house was built about 1760–1761, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, three-bay, Colonial-era frame structure. It sits on a stone foundation and features a jerkin-head gable roof. Also on the property are the contributing meat house, built about 1760–1817; barn (1798–1799, 1857); and spring house ruin (c. 1800). The building housed an ordinary from the time of its construction until 1879.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Flint Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rappahannock County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 209. It is located on Route 522, approximately 2 miles to the east of the border of the Shenandoah National Park. The linear and compact shaped village includes agricultural buildings, residential dwellings, churches, and schools, representing a variety of architectural designs, such as Greek Revival, Italianate, Gothic revival, Craftsman, and Federal.Most of the village, including a two-mile stretch of Route 522 between Wilson Branch Creek and Ben Venue Road and portions of several side streets, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 as the Flint Hill Historic District. The Caledonia Farm and the Flint Hill Baptist Church are also separately listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Just to the north of the town is the campus of Wakefield Country Day School, a private school founded in 1972 which serves Rappahannock County and the surrounding community.

Ashleigh is a Greek Revival style house located in Fauquier County near Delaplane, Virginia. The one-story house was built in 1840 for Margaret Marshal, the granddaughter of John Marshall on a portion of the family's Oak Hill estate (not to be confused with the nearby James Monroe House named Oak Hill). The house was designed by Margaret Marshall and built by a man named Sutton. Margaret married John Thomas Smith in 1845 and they lived at Ashleigh until 1860. That year the house was sold to another relative, Gray Carroll. The property was sold by Carroll to Samuel P. Bayly in 1870. The house passed through a number of owners, with Dr. Edmund Horgan renovating the house in 1929. Horgan obtained pine paneling that had been removed from the White House during renovation work and installed it in the lower southeast room.The house is one story with three bays flanked by one-story two-bay wings on either side. The sloping site makes the basement a full story on the south side of the main and west wings. The house is built of stone covered with stucco. A Greek Doric portico is centered on the main facade. An entrance hall extends across the front with a parlor behind. Halls extend into the center of each wing down a flight of three steps, with two rooms on either side. The garden features a boxwood hedge.Ashleigh was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 14, 1973.

Linden is a small unincorporated village in Fauquier and Warren Counties in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located west of Washington, D.C. at exit 13 off of Interstate 66.
