Haynesville is an unincorporated community in southern Clinton County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies about one quarter mile east of I-35 and north of Missouri Route PP. The community of Holt is located approximately two miles to the southwest on the west side of I-35 in northern Clay County.

Holt is a city in Clay and Clinton counties in the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The population was 471 at the 2020 census.

The original log section of the farmhouse was built about 1822; it was later enlarged with a wood-frame addition to form a "T"-plan dwelling. The James Brothers' House is significant as the birthplace of Jesse James and Frank James and has been selected as the most important site related to the James Brothers in Missouri.: 2  In 1974 Clay County, Missouri, bought it. The county operates the site as a house museum and historic site.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, with a boundary increase in 1978.

The mill is protected as Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site, which preserve its machinery and business records in addition to the building itself.
