Adastral Park

The Centre for Integrated Photonics (CIP) was a research and development centre for photonic devices. It was based in Phoenix House at Adastral Park in Martlesham, UK. It was bought by Huawei in 2012, between 2003 and 2012 it was owned by EEDA, prior to that it was owned by Corning Incorporated.

Martlesham Heath is a village in Suffolk, England. It is 6 miles (10 km) east of Ipswich, This was an ancient area of heathland and latterly the site of Martlesham Heath Airfield. A "new village" was established there in the mid-1970s and this has developed into a modern community, based on a traditional village pattern. The population is still included in that of Martlesham. The village is also part of the wider Ipswich Built-up area.

Woodbridge Rural District was a rural district within the administrative county of East Suffolk between 1894 and 1934. It was created out of the earlier Woodbridge rural sanitary district. It surrounded the town of Woodbridge, which had earlier been created as an urban district. In 1934, under a County Review Order, Woodbridge Rural District was abolished and its parishes transferred to the new Deben Rural District.

Royal Air Force Martlesham Heath or more simply RAF Martlesham Heath is a former Royal Air Force station located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southwest of Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. It was active between 1917 and 1963, and played an important role in the development of Airborne Interception radar.

Martlesham is a village in Suffolk, England about two miles (3 km) South-West of Woodbridge and 6 miles (9.7 km) East of Ipswich. It is often referred to as "old Martlesham" by locals in order to distinguish this old village from the much more recent Martlesham Heath development (1 km) to the south although both form a single administrative parish. Also at Martlesham Heath is BT's Research and Development Centre, now called Adastral Park. Martlesham was recorded in Domesday Book as Merlesham. The history and meaning of the name are studied in a paper by Briggs. It probably means 'settlement (hām) near the mooring-place (mǣrels)'.

Brightwell is a village and civil parish in the East Suffolk district, in the English county of Suffolk. It has a church called St John The Baptist. For transport there is the A12 road nearby. It is near the large town of Ipswich. Adjacent parishes include Foxhall, Bucklesham, Martlesham and Newbourne. The population at the 2011 Census was only minimal and is included in the civil parish of Foxhall. In the fifteenth century Brightwell Manor was possessed by William Curzon. His son, Sir Robert Curzon, Knt., created a Baron of the Holy Roman Empire by the Emperor Maximilian for his gallantry against the Turks, was a Yorkist conspirator and declared a traitor in 1501, although was later back in favour at the English Court. It is possible that Brightwell was forfeited by him in 1501 as he is thereafter referred to as "of Ipswich". Brightwell Hall was extensively remodelled about 1663 by Sir Samuel Barnardiston MP, leader of the Suffolk Whigs and a deputy Governor of the East India Company. It was demolished in about 1755 but traces of the park's parterres and garden walks still remain. John Constable painted a landscape in oil in 1815 of Brightwell.

Waldringfield Pit is a 0.8-hectare (2.0-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Martlesham Heath and Waldringfield in Suffolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site exposes a sequence of Pleistocene deposits, with the early Red Crag overlain by Waldringfield Gravels, the lowest unit of the Kesgrave Sands and Gravels, which were deposits on the bed of the River Thames before it was diverted south by the Anglian Glaciation around 450,000 years ago. Waldringfield Pit is the type site for the Waldringfield Gravels.The site is private land with no public access.

Martlesham Wilds is a nature reserve of Suffolk Wildlife Trust, a rewilding site on the banks of the River Deben near Martlesham in Suffolk, England. It is designated a Ramsar site, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The River Fynn is a waterway in Suffolk which joins the River Deben. Its source is at Witnesham and it joins the Deben at Woodbridge.

Kesgrave Hall School was a private boys' boarding school in Kesgrave, England, catering for pupils with high academic potential who were unable to flourish in mainstream schools.

Kesgrave Hall is a country house located in woodlands north of the town of Kesgrave, which itself is on the eastern outskirts of Ipswich, in Suffolk, England. It was constructed in 1812 by William Cunliffe-Shawe, and has been extended since, notably by the addition of a northern extension. The building has five large rooms downstairs, with another two in the northern extension, with a further seven upstairs. The building is set in 38 acres (150,000 m2) of grounds, which includes woodlands, marsh and fields; a stream, which rises on Playford Heath, north of Kesgrave village, and joins the River Fynn, itself a tributary of the Deben, at Martlesham, runs west to east through the grounds. The Hall has had several uses during its life, including housing five different boarding schools. Since late April 2008, the building has been used as a restaurant and hotel and owned as a joint venture by the Hills Building Group and the Milsom Hotel Group.

Seckford Hall is a Tudor period house in Seckford Hall Road, Great Bealings, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. The hall is now a hotel. The hall was constructed in the 1530s as the family home of Thomas Seckford. It is built of local brick in two storeys to an E-shaped plan with a 9-bay frontage. The hall passed down in the Seckford family until 1673, when it was bequeathed to Seckford Cage, after which it passed through several hands by purchase.A wartime stay after leaving school in 1915 inspired a teenage Enid Blyton. In May 1940 Sir Ralph Harwood purchased the neglected building from a demolition contractor, but it was soon afterwards commandeered by the Army for the duration of the Second World War. The property was returned after the war and early in 1946 Sir Ralph began to restore and modernise the property using materials rescued from other stately homes and churches. In 1950 the property was acquired by the Bunn family and converted to a hotel. The hotel is said to contain furniture that was once used in Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, including the chair that King Henry VII is said to have died on.The hotel again changed hands in September 2012.
