North High School (Akron, Ohio)

Summa St. Thomas Hospital was a former orthopedic and psychiatric hospital located in Akron, Ohio. The hospital opened in 1922 and was originally operated by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine as a non-denominational, non-profit general hospital. In 1989, St. Thomas Hospital merged with Akron City Hospital to become Summa Health System. The emergency room was closed in 2014, and the hospital was closed in 2023.

The All-America Bridge in Akron, Ohio is a viaduct carrying Ohio State Route 261 over the Little Cuyahoga River that splits into a one-way pair. Constructed 1981–1982, the bridge was named in recognition of Akron's past All-America City Awards and is also locally known as the Y-Bridge. The bridge is 134 feet tall in its highest location.The bridge's predecessor, the 1922 North Hill Viaduct, was closed in 1977 after a long history of chunks of concrete falling from the bridge. The poem Under the Viaduct, 1932 from the Pulitzer Prize winning book of poems Thomas and Beulah by Rita Dove, referenced the North Hill Viaduct. Over its existence, the North Hill Viaduct had been the site of at least one suicide a year, though police records were not complete. At least two survived jumps in the 1930s. The replacement bridge has also been a magnet for suicides. From 1997 until December 3, 2009, 29 people committed suicide by jumping from the bridge.In 2009, it was announced that $1 million to $1.5 million would be spent to fence the bridge using federal economic stimulus funds. Fencing the bridge was controversial in Akron and the plan had previously failed to receive local support. Previous local attempts to fence the bridge failed in 1991, 1993, 2000 and 2006. The project was expected to be completed by September 2010 but was stopped for the winter of 2010–2011. The project was finally completed in late December 2011 at a total cost of around $8.7 million. In spite of the presence of the fence, another suicide occurred on June 28, 2012.

Mary Campbell Cave, also known as Old Maid's Kitchen, is a small secondary rock shelter in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The cliff and cave roof are sandstone of the Sharon Formation, while the cave wall is shale of the Meadville formation. The cavity in the cliff was formed when water passing through the porous sandstone eroded the shale, leaving a ground-level cavity beneath the cliff. The cave is currently part of the Gorge Park, administered by Summit County Metroparks, and is accessible by Gorge Trail. It is located on the north wall of the gorge overlooking the Cuyahoga River. Elevation of floor is approximately 960 feet (290 m) AMSL. The cave is notable as the temporary home of Mary Campbell. A small plaque in the center of the cave gives visitors the story of her capture by Native Americans and reads:"In Memory of Mary Campbell Who in 1759 at the age of twelve years was kidnapped from her home in Western Pennsylvania by Delaware Indians. In the same year these Indians were forced to migrate to this section where they erected their village at the big falls of the Cuyahoga. As a result Mary Campbell was the first white child on the Western Reserve and this tablet marks the cave where she and the Indian women temporarily lived. Later, in 1764, she was returned to her home. Erected by the Mary Campbell Society Children of the American Revolution of Cuyahoga Falls, 1934"The approximately 40 meter wide cavity extends from a few to around fifteen meters into the cliff, and is tall enough to accommodate standing for much of the cavity's floor area. It affords good protection from precipitation in calm conditions, but the cavity would have had to be walled to provide protection from wind.

The Werner Company Building in Akron, Ohio was built in 1895 by Frank Meade; it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1976. The building, originally part of an 11-building complex, served as the office building for the Werner Printing & Lithograph Co. The company produced titles such as Encyclopedia Americana, Waldorf Cook Book, Webster's Dictionary, Encyclopædia Britannica, White House Cook Book and, Library of the World's Best Literature.The building was demolished September 5th, 2020.

Akron Ice House was established in 1879 (Incorporated 1888) The Klages Coal & Ice Company Akron, Ohio. was co-founded by German immigrants Henry Klages and August Blessman. The business was passed on to their sons, Louis Klages and Water Blessman. The building was also a Royal Crown Bottling Co. plant.

Wesley Temple AME Zion Church is a historic church at 104 N. Prospect Street in Akron, Ohio, United States. It was built in 1928 and added to the National Register in 1994. The Current Pastor of the Church is Rev. George William Whitfield.

Akron Northside is a Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train station in Akron, Ohio. It is located adjacent to Ridge Street near Howard Street. It is the southern terminus of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

Summa Akron City Hospital is also a Certified Chest Pain Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and its obstetrics care is nationally recognized for quality. In 2010, Summa Akron City and St. Thomas Hospitals were awarded Magnet recognition by American Nurses Credentialing Center. Only six percent of hospitals in the United States are recognized as Magnet hospitals.

St. Paul's Sunday School and Parish House was erected at the corner of at East Market and Forge Streets in Akron, Ohio, for $35,000 in 1884-85 by the St. Paul's Episcopal Church located at 1361 West Market Street. It was built primarily to serve as a Sunday school and parish house, but also as a sanctuary. After closing its doors as a church, the building served as the Firestone Conservatory of Music at the University of Akron until the addition of Guzzetta Hall to the university's campus in 1976. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places that same year. On April 18, 2018, a fire broke out inside St. Paul's at approximately 11:30 p.m., causing significant damage to the building. Emergency crews responding to the scene of a three alarm fire spent most of the night and part of the next day extinguishing the flames. The building, though owned by the University of Akron, had sat vacant and unused since 1976. The cause of the fire was determined to be unknown and the historic structure a loss. On July 21, 2021 The University of Akron (Ohio) announced it had accepted a bid to purchase the property from a local developer who intends to preserve the buildings.

First Congregational Church is a historic church at 292 E. Market Street in Akron, Ohio. The current building was built in 1910 and added to the National Register in 2004. The congregation was chartered in 1835, making it Akron's oldest. It is a part of the United Church of Christ.

Akron Post Office and Federal Building is a historic former post office building in Akron, Ohio. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.The building was begun in 1927 and completed in 1929 to the designs of US Treasury architects under Acting Supervising Architect James A. Wetmore. The building is an example of Beaux-Arts architecture. It has not been used as a post office since 1975.

The Eagles Temple was a prominent Fraternal Order of Eagles building in downtown Akron, Ohio, United States. With its high-styled Art Deco architecture, it was home to an organization with thousands of members, and it was designated a historic site when not yet sixty-five years old.
