Herttoniemi metro station (Finnish: Herttoniemen metroasema, Swedish: Hertonäs metrostation) is a ground-level station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the district of Herttoniemi in East Helsinki. There are 193 bicycle and 148 car parking spaces at the station. Both lines M1 and M2 serve Herttoniemi. As the station was opened on 1 June 1982, Herttoniemi is one of the system's original stations. It was designed by Jaakko Ylinen and Jarmo Maunula. It is located 1.4 kilometres from Kulosaari metro station and 1.4 kilometres from Siilitie metro station.

Herttoniemenranta (Finnish), Hertonäs strand (Swedish) is a southeastern neighborhood of Helsinki, Finland. Herttoniemenranta is part of Herttoniemi and it was built in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Siilitie metro station (Finnish: Siilitien metroasema, Swedish: Igelkottsvägens metrostation - "Hedgehog Way") is a ground-level station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the northern part of the district of Herttoniemi in East Helsinki. There are 117 bicycle and 111 car parking spaces at the station. Both lines M1 and M2 serve Siilitie. Siilitie was one of the original stations on the system, and was opened on the first day of operation on 1 June 1982. It was designed by Jaakko Ylinen and Jarmo Maunula. It is located 1.3 kilometres north-east of Herttoniemi metro station and 2.1 kilometres west of Itäkeskus metro station.

Kirsikkapuisto (English: Cherry Tree Park, Swedish: Körsbärsträdsparken) opened in 2007 in the Roihuvuori district of Helsinki, and is part of the Roihuvuori green area. The southern area has a fenced off dog park. In the dog park are wooden statues of dogs and a tree with a cat in it. The city department that maintains these statues has now closed and the statues are being removed as they deteriorate. There are about 150 Cherry trees in the park that were planted following sponsorship from the Japanese community in Helsinki. In the Spring the Japanese festival of Hanami is celebrated when the trees blossom.

Kulosaari (Swedish: Brändö) is an island and an East Helsinki suburb in Helsinki, Finland. It is also the 42nd neighbourhood of the city. Construction of villas on the island started in the beginning of the 20th century, and a bridge from Sörnäinen was opened in 1919. Kulosaari was an independent municipality since 1922 until 1946, when it was merged to Helsinki. Kulosaari is home to 3,700 people (2003), and has a size of 1.81 square kilometres (0.70 sq mi). The island is host to both Swedish-speaking and Finnish-speaking primary schools and the Kulosaari Secondary School (Kulosaaren Yhteiskoulu, or KSYK) international secondary school, as well as Brändö Gymnasium, a gymnasium for Swedish-speaking Finns. Trams served the island from 1910 to 1951 – before the first bridge was completed, ferries were used to transport the trams. In 1982 Kulosaari got its own subway station, an original station of the Helsinki Metro. An important highway called Itäväylä, serving Helsinki's eastern suburbs, goes through the island, cutting it in two halves. Kulosaari is connected via a short bridge to the adjacent island of Mustikkamaa, which is used for various recreational purposes.

Länsi-Herttoniemi (Finnish), Västra Hertonäs (Swedish) is a southeastern neighbourhood of Helsinki, Finland. It is one of the subdivisions of the wider Herttoniemi suburb.

The Herttoniemi dumping ground was a small dumping ground in the northern part of the Herttoniemi neighbourhood in Helsinki. It was in operation during the years 1948–1953. It was founded in an old gravel pit near the Siilitie and Viikintie intersection. It was also known as the Sopulitie dumping ground.The area of the former dumping ground was 5700 m2, and its ground consisted of sand, and there were no ground water areas nearby. Only municipal solid waste and slaughterhouse waste was taken there. The history of this dumping ground turned out to be short, as the residents of Herttoniemi, especially those living in single-family detached homes on Kitusentie, began to complain about the smell of the dumping ground. Due to the persistence of the residents, the dumping ground located in their neighbourhood was closed, and a new one was opened in the Botbyhöjden gravel pit. It became known as the Vartiokylä dumping ground.The landfill of this dumping ground was allowed to decompose between 1953 and 2002. After this new town plans were made for this site, and apartment buildings were planned for it. All of the landfill, down to the basement rock, was taken away, and clean earth was brought to replace it. The restoration work was undertaken during 2002. The landfill was taken to a modern dumping ground. The matter was already completely decomposed. Only materials such as glass, porcelain, film and metal objects could be discerned. The earth was not contaminated to any significant degree. Some hazardous materials were found, however. Among these were e.g. polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals.

Embassy of Iraq in Helsinki is located in the district of Kulosaari and sticks out due to its Middle-Eastern architecture. At first this was met with scepticism and resentment from the locals since the building was so different from the rest of the building in Kulosaari. However, due to the diplomatic immunity, the state of Iraq was free to design its own embassy however it wanted.The property has 2,800 m2 of space. It was the first embassy building built by the Saddam Hussein regime in Western Europe starting the construction work in 1979 and finishing next year. The first ambassador was general Salih Mahdi Ammash who was known locally as the "Caliph of Kulosaari" due to his boisterous behaviour.The Embassy was designed by DLA (Dinkha Latchin Associates), founded by Dinkha Latchin, an Iraqi born British architect. The design was pushed to reflect traditional Iraqi art and architecture. During the Gulf War the embassy was emptied and it wasn't in use for years falling into disrepair. In 2007 Iraq decided to repair the building entirely.
