2004 IAAF World Cross Country Championships

The 15th European Cross Country Championships were held at Brussels in Belgium on 14 December 2008. Serhiy Lebid took his eighth title in the men's competition and Hilda Kibet won the women's race.

Stuyvenberg Castle (French: Château du Stuyvenberg, Dutch: Kasteel van Stuyvenberg, German: Schloss Stuyvenberg) is a residence of the Belgian Royal Family, located in Laeken, Brussels. Château du Stuyvenberg is situated at an altitude of 56 meters.

The Atomium ( ə-TOH-mee-əm, French: [atɔmjɔm], Dutch: [aːˈtoːmijəm]) is a landmark building in Brussels, Belgium, originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo '58). It is located on the Heysel/Heizel Plateau in Laeken (northern part of the City of Brussels), where the exhibition took place. Nowadays, it is the city's most popular tourist attraction, and serves as a museum, an art centre and a cultural place.Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn and the architects André and Jean Polak, it stands 102 metres (335 ft) tall. Its nine 18-metre-diameter (59 ft) stainless steel clad spheres are connected in the shape of a unit cell that could represent an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Tubes connecting the spheres enclose stairs, escalators and an elevator (in the central, vertical tube) to allow access to the six visitable spheres, which contain exhibit halls and other public spaces. The top sphere includes a restaurant with a panoramic view of Brussels. The building was completely renovated between 2004 and 2006 by the companies Jacques Delens and BESIX.The building is located on the Square de l'Atomium/Atomiumsquare, at the intersection of the Boulevard du Centenaire/Eeuwfeestlaan with the Avenue de l'Atomium/Atomiumlaan and the Avenue de Bouchout/Boechoutlaan. It is served by Heysel/Heizel metro station on line 6 of the Brussels Metro.

Trademart Brussels is a 200000 m2 wholesale trade center in Brussels, Belgium, located on the Heysel Plateau, housing showrooms which sells consumer products. The marketplace is closed to the public but open to certified retail buyers and interior designers, manufacturers and industry professionals. It is the largest purchasing center for retail professionals in Europe.

Design Museum Brussels is a museum located in the Heysel/Heizel Park in Brussels, Belgium. The space focuses on design works from the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Monument to the Dynasty (French: Monument à la Dynastie, Dutch: Monument voor de Dynastie) is a monument erected in Brussels, Belgium, in memory of King Leopold I, first King of the Belgians. The monument is located in Laeken Park, on the Place de la Dynastie/Vorstenhuisplein, on top of a 50-metre-high (160 ft) hill. It completes the monumental axis, which starts from the portal of the Royal Palace of Laeken, and which leads to the monument after crossing the Avenue du Parc Royal/Koninklijk Parklaan via the Avenue de la Dynastie/Vorstenhuislaan.

Mini-Europe is a miniature park located in Bruparck, at the foot of the Atomium, in Brussels, Belgium. Mini-Europe has reproductions of monuments in the European Union and other countries within the continent of Europe on display, at a scale of 1:25. Roughly 80 cities and 350 buildings are represented. Mini-Europe receives 350,000 visitors per year and has a turnover of €4 million.The park contains live action models such as trains, mills, an erupting Mount Vesuvius, and cable cars. A guide gives the details on all the monuments. At the end of the visit, the Spirit of Europe exhibition gives an interactive overview of the European Union in the form of multimedia games. The park is built on an area of 24,000 m2 (300,000 sq ft). The initial investment was of €10 million in 1989, on its inauguration by then-Prince Philip of Belgium.

Belvédère Castle (French: Château du Belvédère; Dutch: Kasteel Belvédère) is a Belgian royal residence in Laeken, Belgium, which currently houses Albert II of Belgium and his wife, Queen Paola of Belgium.

Stuyvenbergh is a Brussels metro station on line 6. It opened on 5 July 1985 and is located under the intersection of Avenue Houba De Strooper/Houba De Strooperlaan, Avenue Émile Bockstael/Émile Bockstaellaan and Avenue De Smet De Naeyer/De Smet De Naeyerlaan, in Laeken, in the northwest of the City of Brussels (Belgium). The underground station is named after the Castle of Stuyvenberg, located east of the station in Laeken Park.

The European School, Brussels IV is one of the thirteen European Schools, and the fourth to be established within the city of Brussels, home to many European Union (EU) institutions. Opened in 2007, the school was initially based in the Brussels municipality of Forest, before moving to its purpose built campus in Laeken in 2012. The school combines nursery, primary and secondary education, with around 3,000 students enrolled at the start of the 2020–2021 academic year, spread over eight language sections (English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Bulgarian (up to the fifth year of secondary), Romanian (up to the fourth year of secondary) and Estonian (up to the fifth year of primary). The school prioritises the children of European Union (EU) staff for enrolment purposes, with others able to enrol provided there is capacity. Transport links to the school campus include Bockstael Station, which provides metro and suburban rail services.

Palais 12 / Paleis 12 (French: Palais 12, Dutch: Paleis 12) is an indoor arena in Brussels used for concerts and spectacles. With a capacity of roughly 15,000 it is one of the largest indoor venues in Belgium. Located in the Heysel Exhibition Park, it was originally built in 1989 but was redesigned and reopened in its current form in 2013. Palais 12 forms the foundation stone for the NEO project, which aims to refurbish the Heysel Plateau into a new, modern, multipurpose neighbourhood in northern Brussels.

The Brussels Planetarium (French: Planétarium de Bruxelles, Dutch: Planetarium van Brussel) of the Royal Observatory of Belgium is a planetarium located on the Heysel/Heizel Plateau in Laeken (northern part of the City of Brussels). It was established during the Brussels International Exposition of 1935 as the Alberteum and is now part of the institutions of the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office.
