Roche Tower (German: Roche-Turm) is a skyscraper in the Swiss city of Basel. At 178 metres, it is the second tallest building in the country.The building, also known as "Building 1" (German: Bau 1), was financed by pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche and designed by Herzog & de Meuron. It cost 550 million Swiss francs to build. The entire construction ensemble, including a planned 205-metre "Building 2" research facility, is expected to cost three billion francs in total.When finished on 18 September 2015, Roche Tower overtook Prime Tower in Zürich as Switzerland's tallest building, the latter having held the record for four years. Strict planning laws mean there are few skyscrapers in the country. For the construction of the building, measures against earthquakes were envisioned and it stands on 143 pillars of reinforced concrete. It is supposed to endure an earthquake of 6.9 on the Richter scale and therefore surpass the security regulations by the government.

F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, commonly known as Roche, is a Swiss multinational healthcare company that operates worldwide under two divisions: Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics. Its holding company, Roche Holding AG, has shares listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. The company headquarters are located in Basel. Roche is the fifth largest pharmaceutical company in the world by revenue, and the leading provider of cancer treatments globally.The company controls the American biotechnology company Genentech, which is a wholly owned affiliate, and the Japanese biotechnology company Chugai Pharmaceuticals, as well as the United States-based companies Ventana and Foundation Medicine. Roche's revenues during fiscal year 2020, were 58.32 billion Swiss francs. Descendants of the founding Hoffmann and Oeri families own slightly over half of the bearer shares with voting rights (a pool of family shareholders 45%, and Maja Oeri a further 5% apart), with Swiss pharma firm Novartis owning a further third of its shares until 2021. Roche is one of the few companies increasing their dividend every year, for 2020 as the 34th consecutive year. F. Hoffmann-La Roche is a full member of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).

The Museum Tinguely is an art museum in Basel, Switzerland that contains a permanent exhibition of the works of Swiss painter and sculptor Jean Tinguely. Located in the Solitudepark by the Rhine, the museum was designed by the Ticinese architect Mario Botta and opened on 3 October 1996. A variety of Tinguely's kinetic art sculptures are on permanent display, complemented with illustrations, photographs and other documents related to the artist's life and work. Tinguely's wife, Niki de Saint Phalle has donated 55 sculptures to the museum. The museum's temporary exhibitions show works from Tinguely's friends and contemporaries, as well as other modern artists such as Bernhard Luginbühl, Niki de Saint Phalle and Yves Klein, among others.

The Landhof was a sports stadium in the district Basel-Wettstein in Kleinbasel, Basel. It was the former and first home stadium of FC Basel. It is mentioned for the first time in a chronicle in the second half of the 18th century as a nice summer house with beautiful property. The best known owner of the manor was Andreas Merian-Iselin, a member of the Merian family. He was Mayor of Basel and Landammann of Switzerland (highest office at the time). In 1892 the granddaughter of Merian-Iselin sold the Landhof to a certain Katharina Ehrler-Wittich. As the Football Club Basel 1893 was founded in 1893 and look for a ground to play, she made the Landhof available free of charge as a playing surface. As early as Sunday, 26 November 1893, the first football game took place on the grounds. From 1895 to 1901 the Vélodrome de Bâle, a cycle track, was also located on the grounds. In their 1898–99 season FC Basel's first league game was played here, this was a city derby against BSC Old Boys, in front of nearly 400 spectators. The first ever international match between the Swiss national team and the Germany national team took place here in April 1908. The Swiss Football Association demanded a seated spectator stand for at least 200 people. The club agreed and built a wood fence around the ground. Sponsored by a chocolate factory, at the cost of four thousand Swiss Francs and a building time of little more than one month the club's members built the first spectator grandstand in Switzerland. On 5 April 1908, Switzerland's first international football match against Germany took place on the Landhof in front of 4,000 spectators. Switzerland won 5-3. This was the first ever international match for Germany and the third for Switzerland. Following this, the ground was used a number of times as international venue.Until 1967 the Landhof was the home ground of FC Basel. After the signing of Helmut Benthaus as player-coach and with the increasing success of the team, the Landhof became too small for the rising number of spectators. From then onwards FC Basel played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium. However, until the early 1990s the club continued to use the Landhof as a training ground and as playing field for their youth teams. They also had their offices and clubhouse there. After that the area became overgrown and there was a long-term political struggle over a planned residential block development.

The Basel Paper Mill (German: Basler Papiermühle), also known as the Swiss Museum for Paper, Writing and Printing (German: Schweizerisches Museum für Papier, Schrift und Druck) in Basel, is primarily dedicated to papermaking, the art of book printing and writing in general. Through a combination of pictures and objects, visitors gain insights into the old artisanal techniques of dipping paper, printing and bookbinding. The museum is located in a carefully restored building that began its life as a paper mill 500 years ago. It is a heritage site of national significance.

The Basler Messeturm (Basel Trade Fair Tower) is the third-tallest building in Basel, Switzerland and the fourth-tallest in the country. Completed in 2003, it has 32 floors and is 105 metres (344 ft) tall. There is a bar lounge on the top floor. The Hyperion hotel operates a 200-room four-star hotel in the building, which also includes offices.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (German: Museum für Gegenwartskunst) in Basel (Switzerland) opened in 1980 as the first public museum in Europe exclusively dedicated to the production and practice of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present. It is a heritage site of national significance.In addition to classic media such as painting and sculpture, it also collects video art. Focal points of the collection include the work of Joseph Beuys, Bruce Nauman, Rosemarie Trockel, Jeff Wall and current American art (Robert Gober, Elizabeth Peyton, Matthew Barney). The Museum of Contemporary Art displays works of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation and the Kunstmuseum Basel. Since 2003, all holdings of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation that are not shown in the museum are housed in the Schaulager in Muttenz.

The Mustermesse Basel (short "muba") was a fair in the city of Basel, Switzerland. The first fair took place in 1917, and the latest fair took place in 2019.

Basel Badischer Bahnhof (literally "Basel Baden Railway station", the name referring to the Grand Duchy of Baden State Railways, which built the station) is a railway station situated in the Swiss city of Basel. The station is situated on Swiss soil, but is operated by the German railway company Deutsche Bahn. A customs border is situated in the passenger tunnel between the tracks and the station hall. It is listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance. The station is served by three lines of the tri-national Regio S-Bahn Basel, and ICE and EC/IC lines to and from Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin and other cities in Germany. The station is the smaller of the two largest railway stations in Basel, the other being Basel SBB, which is operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS).

The Congress Center Basel is Switzerland’s biggest convention center. The venue belongs to the MCH Group, which operates exhibition centers in Basel, Zurich, and Lausanne, organizes exhibitions including Baselworld and Art Basel and offers live marketing services. The Congress Center Basel is located downtown, next to Basel Exhibition Center (Messe Basel). The new Herzog & de Meuron building of Basel Exhibition Center is directly linked to the Congress Center Basel. The Congress Center's facilities include the multifunctional event hall on the ground floor of the new building. On December 4 and 5, 2014, the 21st OSCE Ministerial Council was held at the Congress Center Basel, with delegations from the 57 OSCE member states traveling to Basel, and a total of some 2,000 participants in attendance.

The Clara Tower (German: Claraturm) is a mixed-use high-rise building in Basel, Switzerland. Built between 2019 and 2021, the tower stands at 96 m (315 ft) tall with 30 floors and is the current 12th tallest building in Switzerland.

The Birsköpfli (also called Birskopf, German for Birs River Head) is a leisure and bathing area in the Swiss city of Basel and its neighbouring municipality Birsfelden. It is located at the confluence of the Birs river with the Rhine river. Geographically, the Birsköpfli only means the area bounded by the Birs and the Rhine in the borough Breite; other boundaries are the Blackwood Bridge and the main road to Birsfelden. Along the Birs riverbanks there is a park with green meadows and a restaurant, the rest of the area is inhabited by allotments. In common parlance the term "Birsköpfli" additionally includes the green meadows at the Rhine riverbanks in Birsfelden just east of the actual Birsköpfli. Due to the closeness to the city, the attractive location and the various leisure and sports possibilities the area is highly popular among locals.
