Sham Shek Tsuen

Sham Wat (Chinese: 深屈) is a village of Lantau Island, in Hong Kong.

Sha Lo Wan (Chinese: 沙螺灣) is a bay in the northwest Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The bay faces north to Hong Kong International Airport. The area is occupied by indigenous inhabitants. There is no vehicular access to the area and thus their communication is on foot or by ferry. Because of their inconvenient access to urban areas, villages in the area have suffered from depopulation. Only older generations live in these villages. Villages in the area include Sha Lo Wan Tsuen (沙螺灣村; 'Sha Lo Wan Village'), Sha Lo Wan San Tsuen (沙螺灣新村; 'Sha Lo Wan New Village') and Sha Lo Wan Chung Hau (沙螺灣涌口).

Cheung Shan (Chinese: 象山; lit. 'Elephant Mountain'), is a mountain on Lantau Island in Hong Kong at 449 metres (1,473 ft) in height. It is one of the Four Guardian Beasts (四靈獸) of Tai O Village.

Lantau North Country Park (Chinese: 北大嶼郊野公園) is one of two rural parks on Lantau Island, Hong Kong and is located on the north side of the island. The 22-square-kilometre (8.5 sq mi) park was designated in 1978.

The Ngong Ping Terminal is a terminal station of the gondola lift known as Ngong Ping 360, located on Lantau Island's Ngong Ping, in Hong Kong. It was opened on 18 September 2006.

Nei Lak Shan (Chinese: 彌勒山) is the eighth highest mountain in Hong Kong. With a height of 751 m (2,464 ft), it is situated on Lantau Island immediately north of Ngong Ping where the Buddhist Po Lin Monastery is located. An angle station of the Ngong Ping 360 cable car is located near Nei Lak Shan.

Ngong Ping (Chinese: 昂坪; Jyutping: ngong4 ping4; pinyin: Ángpíng) is a highland in the western part of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It hosts Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan Buddha amidst the hills which is about 34 m tall. There are several hills nearby which are also an attraction to tourists. It is now the terminus of the cable car ride Ngong Ping 360 which travels to Tung Chung. New facilities and tourist attractions have opened including the Ngong Ping Village, Walking with the Buddha, the Monkey's Tale Theatre and Ngong Ping Tea House. A youth hostel is located near the monastery. The second highest peak of Hong Kong, Lantau Peak, is at its southeast.

Luk Wu Tsuen (Chinese: 鹿湖村; lit. 'Deer Lake Village') is an area and a village of Lantau Island in Hong Kong, home to several Buddhist monasteries. The place was named as such since deer could be found there in the past and the landscape looks like a lake.

The Big Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue is sited near the Po Lin Monastery and symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and faith. It is a major centre of Buddhism in Hong Kong, and is also a tourist attraction.

Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist monastery, located on Ngong Ping Plateau, on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The monastery was founded in 1906 by three monks visiting from Jiangsu Province on the Chinese mainland and was initially known simply as "The Big Hut" (大茅蓬 Tai Mao Pung). It was renamed to its present name in 1924. The main temple houses three bronze statues of the Buddha – representing his past, present and future lives – as well as many Buddhist scriptures. Tian Tan Buddha, a giant Buddha statue completed in 1993, is an extension of the monastery. The Ngong Ping 360, consisting of the Ngong Ping village and a gondola lift running between Tung Chung (東涌) and Ngong Ping (昂坪), was built near to the Po Lin Monastery. The monastery boasts many prominent architectural structures, such as the Main Shrine Hall of Buddha, the Hall of Bodhisattva Skanda.This monastery is also noted for making wooden bracelets that are only sold near the Tian Tan Buddha statue. In 1918, three nuns ordained at this monastery established a private nunnery called Chi Chuk Lam (紫竹林) on Lantau's Lower Keung Hill (下羌山). The nunnery is dedicated to Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. There were about 20 jushi and nuns residing there in the 1950s, but now only an elderly abbess remains.

San Tau (Chinese: 䃟頭) is a village on Lantau Island, Hong Kong.

Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College is a co-educational secondary school in Hong Kong. The school opened in 1977 and as of 2016 had approximately 350 students. It is run by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association and sponsored by Po Lin Monastery. It is a Direct Subsidy Scheme institution that charges tuition fees. Students can pick between English or Cantonese as their medium of instruction. Situated in Tai O, it is the first co-ed secondary school on Lantau Island. Around 2009 the school had annual losses of $5 million HKD with 280 students. In hopes of "reduc[ing] annual losses" the school a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school. According to Elaine Yau of the South China Morning Post, financial performance improved subsequently during the principalship of Eric Yuon Fuk-lung, thanks in part to significant staffing cuts.Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College's motto is "Enlighten with Wisdom, Manifest with Compassion and Pursue kindness and virtue". The school is founded on the Buddhist value that everyone has an equal right to learn.
