Po Lin Monastery

The Big Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue is sited near the Po Lin Monastery and symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and faith. It is a major centre of Buddhism in Hong Kong, and is also a tourist attraction.

Ngong Ping (Chinese: 昂坪; Jyutping: ngong4 ping4; pinyin: Ángpíng) is a highland in the western part of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It hosts Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan Buddha amidst the hills which is about 34 m tall. There are several hills nearby which are also an attraction to tourists. It is now the terminus of the cable car ride Ngong Ping 360 which travels to Tung Chung. New facilities and tourist attractions have opened including the Ngong Ping Village, Walking with the Buddha, the Monkey's Tale Theatre and Ngong Ping Tea House. A youth hostel is located near the monastery. The second highest peak of Hong Kong, Lantau Peak, is at its southeast.

The Ngong Ping Terminal is a terminal station of the gondola lift known as Ngong Ping 360, located on Lantau Island's Ngong Ping, in Hong Kong. It was opened on 18 September 2006.

Nei Lak Shan (Chinese: 彌勒山) is the eighth highest mountain in Hong Kong. With a height of 751 m (2,464 ft), it is situated on Lantau Island immediately north of Ngong Ping where the Buddhist Po Lin Monastery is located. An angle station of the Ngong Ping 360 cable car is located near Nei Lak Shan.

Lantau Peak or Fung Wong Shan (literally "Phoenix Mountain") is the second highest peak in Hong Kong and the highest point on Lantau Island, with a height of 934 metres (3,064 ft) above sea level.

Tei Tong Tsai (Chinese: 地塘仔) is a village on Lantau Island, Hong Kong.

Luk Wu Tsuen (Chinese: 鹿湖村; lit. 'Deer Lake Village') is an area and a village of Lantau Island in Hong Kong, home to several Buddhist monasteries. The place was named as such since deer could be found there in the past and the landscape looks like a lake.

Kau Nga Ling (Chinese: 狗牙嶺; lit. 'Dog Teeth Range'), is a series of precipitous mountains on Lantau Island, Hong Kong, with a height of 539 metres (1,768 ft) above sea level. It is one of 16 "high-risk" hiking locations identified by the local government. Kau Nga Ling is inside Lantau South Country Park, which was created in 1978.

The Lantau Trail (Chinese: 鳳凰徑), opened on 4 December 1984, is a long-distance footpath on Lantau Island in the New Territories of Hong Kong. The 70 kilometres (43 mi) trail is a loop starting and finishing in Mui Wo. It is the third longest trail in Hong Kong, after MacLehose Trail and Wilson Trail. The Lantau Trail has good visitor facilities along the way, and the route is well marked. There are information boards and maps at junctions between each stage. Distance posts around 500 metres apart help hikers know where they are. At each turning, route signs give instructions about directions, place names, and the distances and times for hiking between various locations.

Lantau North Country Park (Chinese: 北大嶼郊野公園) is one of two rural parks on Lantau Island, Hong Kong and is located on the north side of the island. The 22-square-kilometre (8.5 sq mi) park was designated in 1978.

Lantau South Country Park (Chinese: 南大嶼郊野公園) is one of two rural country parks on Lantau Island, Hong Kong, the other one being Lantau North Country Park and its extension. Lantau South Country Park is located on the south side of the island. It was designated on 20 April 1978. At 56.4 square kilometres (21.8 sq mi), it is the largest country park in Hong Kong.

Sham Wat (Chinese: 深屈) is a village of Lantau Island, in Hong Kong.
