Hemingstone Hall

Coddenham is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located to the north of the A14 road, 8 miles north of Ipswich, the parish also includes the hamlet of Coddenham Green. In 2005 its population was 570, increasing to 620 at the 2011 Census. Village facilities include a community village shop & café, a country club offering themed evenings, darts, pool & snooker and the Coddenham Centre.

Shrubland Hall Anglo-Saxon cemetery is a 7th-century Anglo-Saxon burial site discovered at Shrubland Hall Quarry near Coddenham, Suffolk. The cemetery contains fifty burials and a number of high-status graves including "the most complicated Anglo-Saxon bed ever found." Bed burials, in which a female body is laid out on an ornamental wooden bed, usually accompanied by jewellery, are rarely found, and are considered of national importance. Only 13 bed burials have been found to date in the UK. The bed burial was one of two graves at the cemetery which were found within wooden-lined chambers. The second chamber contained a male skeleton with grave goods including a seax, a spear, a shield, an iron-bound wooden bucket, a copper alloy bowl and a drinking horn.The site was uncovered by Suffolk County Council's Archaeology Service in 1999 during exploratory excavations prior to gravel extraction by the quarry operators. Evidence of Iron Age and Roman activity had previously been identified in the area.

Bosmere and Claydon Rural District was a rural district within the administrative county of East Suffolk between 1894 and 1934. It was created out of the earlier Bosmere and Claydon rural sanitary district. It was named after the historic hundred of Bosmere and Claydon, although the rural district covered a significantly larger area than the hundred. In 1934, under a County Review Order, Bosmere and Claydon Rural District was abolished. Apart from the detached Swilland parish (to Deben Rural District) it became part of the new Gipping Rural District, and in 1974 became part of Mid Suffolk district.

Hemingstone is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England located 6.5 miles (11 km) north of Ipswich. Hemingstone lies in the hundred of Bosmere. It is a small parish devoted largely to fruit farming with no significant amenities other than the village hall known as "Hemingstone Hut". The residents shop at the adjacent village of Coddenham if they do not choose to go further afield. The largest employer in the village is Stonham Hedgerow, a family business manufacturing jams and preserves.

Gosbeck Wood is a 22.8-hectare (56-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Needham Market in Suffolk.This is an ancient coppice with standards wood mainly on boulder clay, with some areas of sandy soil. Dog's mercury is dominant in the ground flora, and other plants include spurge laurel, wood spurge, herb paris and hairy woodrush.A footpath goes through the wood.

Sandy Lane Pit, Barham is an 11.1-hectare (27-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Barham in Suffolk, England. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site has deposits which span the period from the Beestonian Stage, which ended around 866,000 years ago, through the warm Cromerian Stage to the severe ice age of the Anglian Stage, which started around 478,000 years ago. It has Beestonian deposits thought to have been laid down by the proto-Thames, and a paleosol, a former land surface dating to the Anglian.The site is private land with no public access.

Shrubland Hall, Coddenham, Suffolk, is a historic English country house with planned gardens in Suffolk, England, built in the 1770s. The Hall was used as a health clinic in the second half of the 20th century and briefly reopened as a hotel, restaurant and spa in 2015 but shut in early 2017. The parkland and formal gardens of the hall are Grade I listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, and the hall itself is listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England.

St Mary and St Peter's Church is an active Anglican parish church in the village of Barham near Ipswich. It contains a Henry Moore statue of Madonna and the Child originally held at St Peter, Claydon. It is in the deanery of Bosmere, part of the archdeaconry of Ipswich, and the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

Bosmere and Claydon was a hundred of Suffolk, consisting of 31,850 acres (128.9 km2).The hundred is a fertile and picturesque district varying from 8 to about 12 miles (19 km) in length and breadth. It is bounded on the south by the Borough of Ipswich and Samford Hundred, on the west by Cosford and Stow Hundreds on the north by Hartismere and Thredling Hundreds and on the east by Carlford Hundred. It falls in the Deaneries of Bosmere and Claydon in the Archdeaconry of Suffolk and Diocese of Norwich. Its clay soil has long been associated with agriculture, and is suited to grain production. It is crossed by the River Gipping which becomes the River Orwell at Ipswich on becoming an estuary. Its main settlement is the town of Needham Market. The hundred's name is taken from the parish of Claydon which falls within its bounds, and Bosmere, originally "Bosa's mere", a small lake near Needham Market in the grounds of Bosmere Hall.

Gosbeck is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located around five miles north of Ipswich, in 2005 its population was 220.The parish contains Gosbeck Wood, an ancient woodland and SSSI.

Barham is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. The village is on the River Gipping. Surrounded by Great Blakenham, Baylham, Coddenham, Henley and Claydon, Barham is on the A14 road about six miles north of Ipswich. Barham has one pub - The Sorrel Horse - and is also known for the Gaps Fishing lakes, situated next to the Barham Picnic site on Pesthouse Lane.

Rede Wood is a 7.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve east of Claydon in Suffolk, England. It was formerly owned by Suffolk County Council, which sold it to a private owner in 2012. It is managed under an agreement between the owner and the council. This semi-natural wood on boulder clay is mainly pedunculate oak and ash, with a coppiced understorey mainly of hazel. The flora includes 38 species indicative of ancient woodland.There is access by footpaths from Claydon and Henley.
