Lauco (Friulian: Lauc) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Udine. Lauco borders the following municipalities: Ovaro, Raveo, Sutrio, Tolmezzo, Villa Santina, Zuglio.

Zuglio (Friulian: Zui) is a comune (municipality), former bishopric and Latin Catholic titular see in the Province of Udine in the northeastern Italian autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Udine in the Val Bût. Its territory includes the Pieve of San Pietro in Carnia, one of the oldest churches in Friuli. Zuglio is also home to an archaeological museum including remains from the old Roman town (Iulium Carnicum) and the whole Carnia.

Cabia (Friulian: Cjabie) is a frazione of the comune of Arta Terme, Friuli, north-eastern Italy, in the Carnia traditional region. It is a village located at 753 m across the Valle di Incarojo and the Val Bût, near the Monte Sernio, the Monte Amarana and the valley of Tolmezzo. The population is some 280.

Amaro (Friulian: Damâr, Slovene: Amar) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Udine. Amaro borders the following municipalities: Cavazzo Carnico, Moggio Udinese, Tolmezzo, Venzone.

Lago di Cavazzo or Lago dei Tre Comuni is a lake in the Province of Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. At an elevation of 191 m, its surface area is 1.74 km².

Plöcken Pass (German: Plöckenpass, Italian: Passo di Monte Croce Carnico) is a high mountain pass in the Carnic Alps mountain range at the border between the Austrian state of Carinthia and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of Italy. It links the market town of Kötschach-Mauthen in the Carinthian Gail Valley with the Paluzza municipality in the Carnia region of Friuli. A few miles to the west along the ridge is Mt. Coglians, with 2,780 m (9,121 ft) the highest peak of the Carnic and Gailtal Alps. Before reaching the upper Gail Valley, the pass road also crosses the lower Gailbergsattel at 981 m (3,219 ft) in the north.

The twin peaks of the Kellerspitzen (Italian: Creta delle Chianevate) form the second highest mountain (2,774 m (AA)) in the Carnic Alps, a mountain range in the Southern Limestone Alps within both Austria and Italy. The two summits rise in the middle of the east-west oriented Kellerwandgrat, an arête that forms the main chain of the Carnic Alps here. The border between the Austrian state of Carinthia and the Italian Province of Udine runs along this ridge. The West Top (Westgipfel), also called the Grohmannspitze, is 2,718 m; the East or Main Top (Ostgipfel or Hauptgipfel) is 2,774 m. The mountain offers a wide panoramic view in all directions which, along with its numerous climbing routes, makes it a popular destination for mountaineers.

The Pal Piccolo (German: Kleiner Pal, Friulian: Pal Piçul) is a mountain in the Carnic Alps, located near Plöcken Pass, on the border between the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Austrian state of Carinthia. It has an elevation of 1,866 metres.Due to its position, the Pal Piccolo was heavily contested between Italy and Austria-Hungary during the First World War, from May 1915 to October 1917; the trenches and fortifications that litter the mountain to this day, along with two chapels built by the Alpini, are now part of an open-air museum.

The Eiskar is the only existing glacier in the Carnic Alps, a mountain range in Austria and Italy. It is a typical cirque glacier that, thanks to its shady location and to avalanche breaks in its catchment area, has been able to survive at the relatively low height of 2160–2390 metres above sea level. Although the ice sheet in good times could calve over a rock wall down to the pasture of Valentinalm below, currently it is rapidly becoming a sheet of dead ice. In the period 2007–2014, however, no significant retreat was observed. The glacier may be accessed from below up a klettersteig, and from above quite easily via the Kellerwand rock face. Remains of defensive positions witness to the mountain war of 1915-1918.

Monte Sernio is a remote mountain of the Carnic Alps, in Udine, northeast Italy, with an elevation of 2,187 m. It is located, together with the nearby Creta Grauzaria, in the mountain chain between the Incarojo Valley, near the village of Paularo, and the Aupa Valley. It was first climbed in 1879 by sisters Minetta and Annina Grassi.

Bordano (Friulian: Bordan) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Udine, on the right bank of the Tagliamento river. Bordano borders the following municipalities: Cavazzo Carnico, Gemona del Friuli, Trasaghis, Venzone.

Trasaghis (local Friulian: Trasagas) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northwest of Udine. Trasaghis borders the following municipalities: Bordano, Cavazzo Carnico, Forgaria nel Friuli, Gemona del Friuli, Osoppo, Vito d'Asio.
