Ruda, Friuli

The Third Battle of the Isonzo was fought from 18 October through 4 November 1915 between the armies of Italy and Austria-Hungary.

The Torre (Friulian: Tôr; Slovene: Ter) is a river of the Province of Udine in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeast Italy. It is the main right tributary of the Isonzo; the Torre together with its own tributary the Natisone drain a large part of the Isonzo basin. The river rises in the Julian Prealps at around 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) above sea level. It flows through the communes of Tarcento and Reana del Rojale, where, as a result of the karst topography, it disappears underground. From close to the eastern periphery of the city of Udine it follows a discontinuous course until joined by the Natisone near Trivignano Udinese. From here it flows briefly in the Province of Gorizia, receiving the torrent Judrio from the left, before returning to the Province of Udine and flowing into the Isonzo.

Campolongo al Torre (Friulian: Cjamplunc) is a former comune of the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 40 km northwest of Trieste and about 25 km southeast of Udine. Since 2009 it has been one of the two principal centres of Campolongo Tapogliano, a municipality formed by its merger with the former comune of Tapogliano.

Villesse (Friulian: Vilès; Slovene: Vileš) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Gorizia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,560 and an area of 11.8 square kilometres (4.6 sq mi).Villesse borders the following municipalities: Campolongo al Torre, Fogliano Redipuglia, Gradisca d'Isonzo, Romans d'Isonzo, Ruda, San Pier d'Isonzo, Tapogliano.

Aiello del Friuli (Friulian: Daèl) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southeast of Udine. Aiello del Friuli borders the following municipalities: Bagnaria Arsa, Campolongo al Torre, Cervignano del Friuli, Ruda, San Vito al Torre, Visco. Joannis is the birthplace of Enzo Bearzot, former Italian football player and manager, who won the 1982 FIFA World Cup as coach.

Tapogliano (Slovene: Tapoljan), is a locality and former comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 40 km northwest of Trieste and about 25 km southeast of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 452 and an area of 5.0 km².Tapogliano bordered the following municipalities: Campolongo al Torre, Romans d'Isonzo, San Vito al Torre, Villesse. In 2009 it became part of the newly created comune of Campolongo Tapogliano.

Campolongo Tapogliano (Friulian: Cjamplunc Tapoian) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It was created in 2009 by the fusion of the former municipalities of Campolongo al Torre and Tapogliano.

Turriaco (Bisiacco: Turiac) is a town and comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeast Italy. It is located near the Isonzo river. Its name comes from the ancient Latin name Turris Aquae, meaning "Water Tower".

Fiumicello (Friulian: Flumisel, Slovene: Rečica) is a frazione of Fiumicello Villa Vicentina in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Udine. Fiumicello borders the following municipalities: Aquileia, Grado, Ruda, San Canzian d'Isonzo, Turriaco, Villa Vicentina.

Fiumicello Villa Vicentina (Friulian: Flumisel Vile Visintine) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It was established on 1 February 2018 by the merger of the municipalities of Fiumicello and Villa Vicentina.

Romans d'Isonzo (Friulian: Romans dal Lusinç; Slovene: Romanž na Soči) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Gorizia. Romans d'Isonzo borders the following municipalities: Gradisca d'Isonzo, Mariano del Friuli, Medea, San Vito al Torre, Tapogliano, Villesse.
