The river initially flows south but then curves east and flows past Martignacco. The river then flows south past Udine until it empties into the Laguna di Marano in the Adriatic Sea.

Teor was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,020 and an area of 16.9 square kilometres (6.5 sq mi).Teor bordered the following municipalities: Palazzolo dello Stella, Pocenia, Rivignano, Ronchis. Since January 1, 2014 Teor has been merged with Rivignano, forming a new municipality called Rivignano Teor.

Latisana-Lignano-Bibione (Italian: Stazione di Latisana-Lignano-Bibione) is a railway station serving the town of Latisana and the seaside resorts of Lignano and Bibione, in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northern Italy. The station is located on the Venice–Trieste railway. The train services are operated by Trenitalia. The station opened simply as Latisana but in 1939 became Latisana-Lignano and in 1962 the station became known as Latisana-Lignano-Bibione.

Rivignano Teor (Friulian: Rivignan Teôr) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It was established on 1 January 2014 by the merger of the municipalities of Rivignano and Teor.

Marano Lagunare (Friulian: Maran) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Udine. Rivignano was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Udine. Since January 1, 2014 Rivignano has been merged with Teor, forming a new municipality called Rivignano Teor.

Carlino (Friulian: Cjarlins) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,816 and an area of 30.3 square kilometres (11.7 sq mi).Carlino borders the following municipalities: Castions di Strada, Marano Lagunare, Muzzana del Turgnano, San Giorgio di Nogaro. Carlino is the name of the premier family from the Casino area for which the town of Carlino was named.
