Nytorv

A new, third City Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, was built at Gammeltorv in 1479. Rebuilt by King Christian IV into the Renaissance style in 1610, it was in use until 1728 when it was destroyed in the first Great Fire of Copenhagen. It was replaced by a new city hall which was built on its foundations the same year.

A new, fourth City Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, was built between Gammeltorv and Nytorv in 1728 on the foundations of its predecessor which had been destroyed in the first Great Fire of Copenhagen earlier that same year. In 1795 it was itself destroyed in the second Great Fire of Copenhagen and later replaced by the new combined city hall and courthouse at Nytorv which was completed in 1815.

The Copenhagen Court House (Danish: Københavns Domhus) is a historic building located on Nytorv in Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally built as a combined city hall and courthouse, it now serves as the seat of the District Court of Copenhagen. Inaugurated in 1815, it was built to the design of Christian Frederik Hansen in Neoclassical style.

The Frisch House (Danish: Frischs Hus) is a Neoclassical property overlooking the square Nytorv (No. 5) in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The building was designed by the artist Nicolai Abildgaard although it has later been expanded with an extra floor. A room on the first floor features four Abildgaard paintings with scenes from Voltaire's Le Triumvirat.

The Jens Lauritzen House is a Neoclassical property at Nytorv 7 in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. Home to the Association of Folk High Schools in Denmark, the building is now also known as Højskolernes Hus (English: The House of Folk High Schools).

LGBT Danmark – Landsforeningen for bøsser, lesbiske, biseksuelle og transpersoner (Danish: LGBT Denmark – The Danish National Organisation for Gay Men, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgender persons) is a lobby for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people. The association was founded in 1948 as Circle of 1948 (Kredsen af 1948). The current name has been in use since November 2009; its former name, in use for 24 years prior, was Landsforeningen for Bøsser og Lesbiske, Forbundet af 1948, shortened to LBL. The Norwegian Organisation for Sexual and Gender Diversity originated as the Norwegian branch of the Danish group.

Nytorv 19 is a Neoclassical building situated on the south side of Nytorv, between the Krak House (No. 18) and the Nytorv extension of Copenhagen Jailhouse (No. 21), in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The building was constructed in 1797 as part of the rebuilding of the city following the Copenhagen Fire of 1795. It was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1945. The building was from 1877 owned by bookseller and publisher Otto B. Wroblewski. A bookshop carrying his names occupied the ground floor of the building until 2005.Other notable former residents include the diplomat Frederik Adler Pløyen, actor Ferdinand Lindgreen, naval officer Lorentz Fjelderup Lassen and flower painter Johan Laurentz Jensen.

The Krak House (Danish: Kraks Hus) is a Neoclassical property overlooking the square Nytorv (No. 17) in the Old Town of in Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its name after the publishing house Kraks Forlag which was based there for many years. The Danish Centre for Culture and Development, a self-governing institution under the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is based in the building.

Nytorv 15/Rådhusstræde 2 is a Neoclassical property situated at the corner of Nytorv and Rådhusstræde in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. It consists of two separate buildings, the corner building from 1797 (Nytorv 15/Rådhusstræde 2) and an eight-bay building from 1798 (Rådhusstræde 2B), now connected by a narrow modern infill. Former residents include jurist, writer and publisher Jacob Just Gudenrath (1657–1825), actors Stephan and Eline Heger, theatrical painter Edvard Lehmann and portrait painter hristian Frederik Christensen (1805-1883).

The Caritas Well (Danish: Caritasbrønden), also known as the Caritas Fountain (Danish: Caritasspringvandet), is the oldest fountain in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built in 1608 by Christian IV and is located on Gammeltorv, now part of the Strøget pedestrian zone. It is known for the Golden Apples "jumping" on the Queen's birthday.

Gammeltorv (Old Market) is the oldest square in Copenhagen, Denmark. With adjoining Nytorv it forms a common space along the Strøget pedestrian zone. While the square dates back to the foundation of the city in the 12th century, most of its buildings were constructed after the Great Fire of 1795 in Neoclassical style. Another dominating feature is the Caritas Well, a Renaissance fountain erected by King Christian IV in 1610. Historically, Gammeltorv has been the focal point of Copenhagen's judicial and political life as well as one of its two principal marketplaces. Several former city halls have been located on the square or in its immediate vicinity. Surprisingly, its name is not a reference to adjoining Nytorv but to the slightly younger Amagertorv, Copenhagen's other major market in early times.

Stelling House (Danish: Stellings Hus) is a building on Gammeltorv in the centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. Completed in 1937, it was designed as an office building and retail store for the A. Stelling paint company by Arne Jacobsen who took pains to have it blend in with the older buildings which surround it.
