Emmet Park

Old Fort is a historic neighborhood of Savannah, Georgia. Named for Fort Wayne, which stood nearby, it is located in the northeastern corner of the Savannah Historic District, centered around Washington Square and also formerly incorporating the land to the Savannah River, below Bay Street. Today part of Hitch Village, in the early 19th century it was home to the working-class Irish and African American populations of the city.The neighborhood was substantially shrunk through development of the 1950s.St. James African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, on East Broad Street, is part of the Old Fort district.

George Anderson Stores is a historic building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located in Savannah's Historic District, the addresses of some of the properties are East Bay Street, above Factors Walk, while others solely utilize the former King Cotton warehouses on River Street. As of February 2022, these are The Peanut Shop of Savannah and Spanky's. The current building was constructed in 1835, but George W. Anderson, a cotton merchant, banker and planter, had a store in the previous incarnation, known as Richard Wayne's Wharf, too. The Andersons were one of Savannah's most prominent families, notably in the Civil War years.In October 1817, leading cabinetmaker Duncan Phyfe's first shipment to Savannah was recorded. He shipped six boxes to George Anderson and Son, who were active from 1817 to 1839.In April 1837, merchants Clark and Pelott were advertising from "Anderson's new Stores".The building stands adjacent to the Scott and Balfour Stores at 302–316 East Bay Street.

508 East Factors Walk is a historic building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. The building dates to 1889, when a three-year construction process began, but the earlier warehouse that stood at the location dated to 1812. The new construction added several pedestrian bridges that connect the building to the "Green" (Emmet Park) between the adjacent Rossiter Place and East Bay Street, passing over East Factors Walk. It is now Olde Harbour Inn.Tide Water Oil Company leased two floors of the new building, but in 1892 the building was destroyed by a fire. The premises were rebuilt, and Standard Oil occupied the space until 1907. The building remained empty for more than two decades. Tide Water Oil Company was later purchased by Standard Oil. In 1930, Alexander Brothers Company, a blue jeans and overall factory, moved in. They remained there until 1980.In 1985, the building was completely renovated. It was reopened in 1987 as the Olde Harbour Inn, its current occupant. Four years later, Savannah's HLC Hotels, Inc. purchased the inn as the first property in its "collection of upscale historic Savannah inns." It now owns five other inns and hotels.As of February 2022, the businesses occupying the ground floor of the River Street elevation are Travel House, Exotic Cigars and Something Different.

The Paul Hamilton Wilkins House is a historic home in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located at 7 Habersham Street, at its intersection with East Bay Lane, and was built around 1792. One of the oldest extant buildings in Savannah, it is now part of the Savannah Historic District. In a survey for the Historic Savannah Foundation, Mary Lane Morrison found the building to be of significant status.It was built for Dr. Paul Hamilton Wilkins. Wilkins formerly lived in Liberty County, Georgia. His young son died, and with his wife in great distress he decided that the family should go back to visit Philadelphia. They sailed from Savannah on the SS Pulaski, which sank in a hurricane off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, in June 1838. Most of the passengers drowned, including the Wilkins family of three.In the mid-19th century, the property was owned by Hugh Cullens. It is believed it was part of his Seaman's Boarding House at 3–5 Habersham Street.

510 East St. Julian Street, also known as the Odingsells House, is a building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located in the northwestern civic block of Washington Square and was built in 1797. Built as a home for Major Charles Odingsells, a native of South Carolina, it is now part of the Savannah Historic District and is the oldest building in Washington Square.In a survey for Historic Savannah Foundation, Mary Lane Morrison found the building to be of significant status.It is a one-storey gable-ended building finished in clapboard. It has a Federal-style center hall, which is flanked by a duo of sash windows. The house's stoop and steps lead up beyond a low basement. A porch was added in the 20th century.This home, and the nearby Hampton Lillibridge House, were restored by Jim Williams.

The Margaret Pendergast House is a home in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located in the northeastern civic block of Warren Square, and was built by 1868. It is part of the Savannah Historic District, and was built for Margaret Pendergast. The home is a three-storey brick structure. In a survey for the Historic Savannah Foundation, Mary Lane Morrison found the building to be of significant status. It was restored in the 20th century by Anne and Mills Lane, who also lived there. It was the Lanes' first of many restorations in Savannah. Their son, Mills IV, later changed the stoop and added a side porch.

The Battle of the Rice Boats, also called the Battle of Yamacraw Bluff, was a land and naval battle of the American Revolutionary War that took place in and around the Savannah River on the border between the Province of Georgia and the Province of South Carolina on March 2 and 3, 1776. The battle pitted the Patriot militia from Georgia and South Carolina against a small fleet of the Royal Navy. In December 1775, the British Army was besieged in Boston. In need of provisions, a Royal Navy fleet was sent to Georgia to purchase rice and other supplies. The arrival of this fleet prompted the colonial rebels who controlled the Georgia government to arrest the British Royal Governor, James Wright, and to resist the British seizure and removal of supply ships anchored at Savannah. Some of the supply ships were burned to prevent their seizure, some were recaptured, but most were successfully taken by the British. Governor Wright escaped from his confinement and safely reached one of the fleet's ships. His departure marked the end of British control over Georgia, although it was briefly restored when Savannah was retaken by the British in 1778. Wright again ruled from 1779 to 1782, when British troops were finally withdrawn during the closing days of the war.

The Spencer–Woodbridge House (also known as the George Basil Spencer House) is a home in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located in the northeastern civic block of Warren Square and was built in 1790, making it the oldest building on the square and one of the oldest in Savannah overall. It is part of the Savannah Historic District, and was built for George Basil Spencer, though he died in February 1791. It also became the homes of William H. Spencer (believed to have built the house) until 1817 and William Woodbridge, who bought it from Spencer. It remained in the Woodbridge family until 1911.The home is a four-storey wood-frame building with a brick addition at the rear. It has a single-storey porch along the rear of the house and a single-bay Doric entrance porch on Habersham Street.The building was saved by the revolving fund of the Historic Savannah Foundation. In a survey for the foundation, Mary Lane Morrison found the building to be of significant status. It was restored by Mills B. Lane IV in 1993.In 2021, the property was listed with Sotheby's International Realty for $2.8 million.

Scott and Balfour Stores is a historic building in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located in Savannah's Historic District, the addresses of some of the properties are East Bay Street, above Factors Walk, while others solely utilize the former King Cotton warehouses on River Street. As of February 2022, these are The Shrimp Factor, Bob's Your Uncle/Fannie's Your Aunt and Simply Savannah. The property was built for Andrew Low, Robert Scott and John Balfour from 1823 to 1826. The top storey was added in the 1850s. Low was one of Savannah's most renowned cotton merchants, in business by the late 18th century.In a survey for the Historic Savannah Foundation, Mary Lane Morrison found the building to be of significant status.The building stands adjacent to the George Anderson Stores at 402–410 East Bay Street.

The Hampton Lillibridge House is a historic home in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located at 507 East St. Julian Street, in the southwestern civic/trust lot of Washington Square, and was built around 1797. One of the oldest extant buildings in Savannah, it is now part of the Savannah Historic District. In a survey for the Historic Savannah Foundation, Mary Lane Morrison found the building, constructed by Rhode Island native Hampton Lillibridge, to be of significant status.Lillibridge died at Shandy Hall, near Savannah, on February 14, 1801, after contracting yellow fever. His widowed second wife, Anna Orford, sold the house, at which point it became a boarding house.It is one of Savannah's few clapboard houses to have survived the fire of 1820.The home originally stood at 310 East Bryan Street, about 600 feet (180 m) away, in the northwestern residential lot of the adjacent Warren Square. The property was bought by James Arthur Williams in 1969. He moved it to its current location and restored it.

Warren Square is one of the 22 squares of Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located in the northernmost row of the city's five rows of squares, on Habersham Street and East St. Julian Street. It is east of Reynolds Square, west of Washington Square and north of Columbia Square. The oldest building on the square is the Spencer–Woodbridge House, at 22 Habersham Street, which dates to 1790. The Lincoln Street Parking Garage occupies the entire western side of the square. The square was laid out in 1791 and named for General Joseph Warren, a Revolutionary War hero killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill and who had served as President of the Provincial Government of Massachusetts. British gunpowder seized by Savannahians had been sent to aid the Americans at Bunker Hill. The "sister city" relationship between Savannah and Boston survived even the Civil War, and Bostonians sent shiploads of provisions to Savannah shortly after the city surrendered to General Sherman in 1864.

The John David Mongin House is a historic home in Savannah, Georgia, United States. It is located at 24 Habersham Street in the southeastern civic lot of Warren Square. Built around 1797, six years after the square was established, it is one of the few surviving 18th-century buildings in Savannah. The home, which was moved across the square from 25 Habersham Street, is part of the Savannah Historic District. It was built for John David Mongin (1763–1833), a prominent merchant and known slave owner. It later became a rectory for Christ Church in Savannah's Johnson Square, then a hospital during the yellow fever pandemic of 1876.Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, visited the property in 1825.
