Carlington Park

Central Park (French: Parc Central) is a neighbourhood in River Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is bounded on the east by Merivale Road, on the south by Baseline Road, on the west by Clyde Avenue and on the north by the Carlington neighbourhood. The population of the neighbourhood in 2016 was 3,888 in an area of 0.91 km2. It more than doubled its population between 2001 and 2006 as the neighbourhood expanded. Excluding the residences south of Baseline which are included in the Census Tract, the population of the neighbourhood is 3,760.The neighbourhood is fairly new, having been built in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Before Central Park was built, the land was originally part of the Central Experimental Farm until the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton bought it in 1987. The community used to be a wooded area. Ashcroft Homes bought the area from the region in 1996. Central Park is known for its New York City themed street names. The name of the neighbourhood itself is taken from Central Park.

The Ottawa Jewish Community School (or OJCS) is a pluralistic Jewish day school in Ottawa, Ontario. The school was founded as Hillel Academy in 1949, and amalgamated with Yitzhak Rabin High School in 2006. OJCS teaches Hebrew, English and French as part of its curriculum, and runs a Judaics program focusing on Jewish religion, culture and values.

Adath Shalom Congregation of Ottawa is a Canadian Conservative synagogue located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It has been egalitarian and lay-led since 1978. It is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. All Adath Shalom members - men, women and teenagers - lead the services as well as weekly discussion of the Torah portion.

Carlington is a neighbourhood located in River Ward in the west-end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The community association boundaries are Clyde Avenue to the west, Carling Avenue and the Queensway to the north, Fisher Avenue to the east and the Central Experimental Farm Pathway to the south. According to the Canada 2016 Census, the total population for this area was 11,363.Carlington was first settled in the early 1920s. It contains less than 435 older pre-1945 homes. Some 2,000 dwellings were built from 1945 to 1960. The houses built in the time period immediately following World War II were meant for returning veterans and are therefore known as "war homes" or "veteran homes". Many of the street names in the neighbourhood also reflect this military heritage (e.g. Viscount Ave, Admiral Ave, General Ave, Marshall Ave, Veteran Ave, Crerar Ave.). From 1961 to 1970, 1,440 homes and apartments were built and from 1971 to 1980, another 1,380. After 1981, the construction of new dwellings sharply dropped to less than 400 for the remainder of the 20th century. Today there are new homes being built as some veterans' homes are demolished. The neighbourhood is home to Westgate Shopping Centre and the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Merivale Road is Carlington's traditional main street and goes through the centre of residential Carlington. There are five places of worship: St. Elizabeth's of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Église Catholique Romain de Saint-Bonaventure, Church of God of Prophecy, Kehillat Beth Israel synagogue and St Tekle Haimanot Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the only Ethiopian Orthodox church in Ottawa. The Carlington Business Area is west of Kirkwood, north of Carlington Hill, south of the Queensway (417), and east of Maitland. The main business streets are Laperierre and Woodward.

Laurentian High School was a former Ottawa high school. It was located on Baseline Rd. at the corner of Clyde, in the city's West End. The school opened in 1958. LHS provided education to grade 9 through 12 through an unsemestered curriculum as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education 1958–2005. LHS provided grade 13 from 1961 to 2003. The property is located at one edge of River Ward, with College Ward and Knoxdale-Merivale Ward adjacent.

Young Israel of Ottawa is an Orthodox synagogue located in Westboro, a suburb of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is a warm and close-knit congregation that provides a full array of religious services, adult classes and family programming open to all Jews in Ottawa.

Notre Dame High School is a Catholic intermediate school and high school in Ottawa's west operated by the Ottawa Catholic School Board. The school is one of the first in the area to use a uniform. The school is mainly two storeys throughout, except for the northeast corner where it features a basement in which the classrooms are almost exclusively for mathematics. It has an auditorium. It used to feature a single gymnasium in the centre of the school, but an extra one was built and opened in 2002–2003. Sports teams play under the moniker/nickname "Notre Dame Eagles" (formerly the Notre Dame Silver Eagles). The present site at 710 Broadview was once the site of Highland Park Technical School. Notre Dame High School moved into the 710 Broadview site during the mid-1990s, from their old site on the north west corner of the Holland Ave-Queensway intersection. That site is now Fisher Park Public School. The high school operates on a standard semestered system for grades 7-12. Grade 7-8 students take their classes in a separate wing of the school.

Westgate Shopping Centre is a shopping mall in the Carlington neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located southwest of downtown, bordering Carling Avenue, Merivale Road, and Highway 417, owned by RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust. The mall opened May 12, 1955, and is considered Ottawa's first shopping centre. The anchor of the mall was Freiman's department store, owned by Lawrence Freiman who already had a department store on Rideau Street. In advertising for its grand opening, Westgate boasted that it had parking for over 1200 cars, weather-protected shopping and music for its customers. Other stores included Steinberg's, Tip Top Tailors, a movie theater, Reitmans, Kiddytown and a branch of Royal Bank of Canada. The Royal Bank is the only remaining original tenant. The mall is served by OC Transpo routes 55, 80, 81 and 85. A proposed redevelopment plans to have the mall demolished and replaced in phases with high-rise commercial and residential buildings. The first phase began in November 2019 with the demolition of Monkey Joe's Restaurant on the south-east corner of the property.

CJOH-DT (channel 13) is a television station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. It is owned and operated by network parent Bell Media alongside Pembroke-licensed CTV 2 outlet CHRO-TV (channel 5). Both stations share studios with Bell's Ottawa radio properties at the Market Media Mall building on George Street in downtown Ottawa's ByWard Market, while CJOH-DT's transmitter is located on the Ryan Tower at Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, north of Gatineau.

CKQB-FM (106.9 FM, Jump! 106.9) is a radio station licensed to Ottawa, Ontario. Owned by Corus Entertainment, it broadcasts a Top 40/CHR format. CKQB's studios are located at 1504 Merivale Road in Nepean along with sister station CJOT-FM, while its transmitter is located in Camp Fortune, Quebec.

Hampton Park (French: Parc Hampton) is a park and neighbourhood in Kitchissippi Ward, in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is directly north of the Queensway at Island Park Drive. The park is maintained by the National Capital Commission.

Highland Park is a sub-neighbourhood of Westboro, in the Kitchissippi Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located between Carling Avenue and Richmond Road, Churchill Avenue and Denbury Ave. It is a mixed-income neighbourhood, with some large luxury homes closer to Richmond Road, middle-income homes built in the last two centuries, and a large number of lower-income low-rise apartment buildings closer to Carling Avenue. The population of the neighbourhood according to the Canada 2011 Census was 4,070.Nepean High School and Notre Dame High School are prominent parts of the community, as is the Westboro Kiwanis Park, which has a tennis court, wading pool, and field which can be used for football or soccer. Dovercourt Recreation Center features meeting halls and a swimming pool. The Highland Park area is part of the Ottawa Centre riding federally, which is currently held by Liberal MP Yasir Naqvi. Highland Park is also part of the Ottawa Centre riding provincially.
