Makadara is a residential neighbourhood in the city of Nairobi. It is approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southeast of the central business district of Nairobi.

Mukuru Kwa Njenga is a slum in the Mukuru slums of Nairobi. Mukuru kwa Njenga is among other villages in Mukuru namely; Mukuru kwa Reuben, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Sinai, Paradise, Jamaica, Kingstone, Mariguini, Fuata Nyayo and Kayaba. The population exceeds 100,000.

Umoja is a residential suburb in the city of Nairobi. Located within the larger sub-county of Embakasi and the Eastlands area of Nairobi. It is approximately 8.4 kilometres (5.2 mi) east of Nairobi's central business district. Umoja consists of three smaller neighbourhoods: Umoja I, Umoja II and Umoja Innercore.

Donholm or Doonholm is a commercial and residential neighbourhood in Nairobi. A legacy of what was a dairy farm with the same name, Donholm is a suburb in the Eastlands area of Nairobi. It is located 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of the Nairobi central business district, within the larger sub-county of Embakasi.

The 2011 Nairobi pipeline fire was caused by an explosion secondary to a fuel spill in the Kenyan capital Nairobi on 12 September 2011. Approximately 100 people were killed in the fire and at least 116 others were hospitalized with varying degrees of burns. The incident was not the first such pipeline accident in Kenya, with the Molo fire of 2009 resulting in at least 133 fatalities and hundreds more injured.

Ofafa is a southeastern neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya in a low income, high-density area generally known as the Eastlands. Politically it belongs to Makadara Constituency. In the mid-1950s the Quakers erected a building in Ofafa to act as a hub for individual craftspeople making and selling furniture. It is also known for its Jericho school. Early housing estates there were part of Erica Mann's planning work in the 1940s and 1950s. The Ofafa Jerusalem scheme created two-storey blocks of maisonettes that were connected to the electrical supply, had an internal water supply and sanitation, and were surrounded by ample open space. The 1950s Ofafa Jericho estate was built in a similar style but now houses about 50,000 people: five times more than it was intended for. People are living in poor quality iron sheet extensions and water and waste management are inadequate.Ofafa was named after Ambrose Ofafa, a prominent politician who received a Colonial Service award on the 1953 Coronation Honours list, and was murdered in November of the same year.

Kware is a slum neighbourhood in Embakasi in the city of Nairobi. Located within the larger Eastlands area of Nairobi, it is approximately 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) east of the central business district. It borders the Mukuru slums and Initially Kware was predominantly an informal settlement but over the years part Kware and Pipeline have earned a reputation for their poor infrastructure, coupled with overcrowded flats, narrow streets, littering, as well as its poor drainage system.

Mukuru is a collection of slums in the city of Nairobi. It is approximately 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) south of the central business district of Nairobi. It is one of the largest slums in Nairobi. It stretches along the Nairobi–Ngong River, situated on waste lands in the industrial area of the city between the Outering Ring Road, North Airport Road and Mombasa Road. Mukuru is among other major slums in Nairobi such: Korogocho, Kibera and Mathare. Mukuru comprises the Mukuru kwa Reuben, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Sinai, Paradise, Jamaica, Kingstone, Mariguini, Fuata Nyayo and Kayaba villages.

Moi Air Base, formerly known as RAF Eastleigh and Eastleigh Airport (ICAO: HKRE) is a military airport located to the east of Nairobi, in the Eastleigh suburb. The airport is used by the Kenya Air Force. Additionally, the airfield is the home of the East African School of Aviation run by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, which was established at the airport in 1954 as the DCA training school. The airport is also used to train Kenyan Air Cadets. Due to its military status, the airport is not shown in any official map of Nairobi. Instead, the area is left blank. This does not affect Google Earth, though.

Nyayo Estate is a gated neighbourhood in Embakasi in the city of Nairobi. It is approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) by road southeast of the central business district of Nairobi. Built from 1999, with six phases by 2014, it is the largest housing project in Kenya and second largest in Africa.

Pipeline is a slum-like neighbourhood in Embakasi in the city of Nairobi. Located within the larger Eastlands area of Nairobi, it is approximately 9.5 kilometres (5.9 mi) east of the central business district. It has earned a reputation for its poor infrastructure, coupled with overcrowded flats, narrow streets, littering, as well as its poor drainage system.

The Outer Ring Road is a 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) multi-lane highway located in Nairobi, Kenya. Construction funding was initially provided by the African Development Bank in 2013, although construction delays and increased traffic have delayed completion of the project. The highway runs primarily along the Eastlands area of Nairobi and connects major transportation hubs including the Nairobi-Thika Highway, Mombasa Road, and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. In August 2020, Kenya secured a $59 million (KSh6.4 billion) loan from the South Korean Export-Import Bank to build special lanes for high-capacity buses (bus rapid transit) to expand the road's carrying capacity.
