Varese-Venegono Airport (IATA: None, ICAO: LILN) in an Italian airport located in Venegono Inferiore, 10 km south-east from Varese, the airport is open to VFR traffic and military/civil non commercial aircraft. The runway is used by Aeroclub Varese (Flight school and operator), Leonardo Company and the financial police of Varese.

The Fisogni Museum of the petrol station (in the past also SIRM Museum or Ormad Valseveso Museum), in Tradate, Italy, is a museum about gas pumps, gas stations and petroliana, founded by Guido Fisogni in 1966. With its 8000 pieces, between gas pumps, signs and gadgets, the collection is the biggest in the world in its genre, certified by Guinness World Records in 2000. The Museum is also part of the "Lombard Circuit of Design Museum" and of the "Italian Design Network" by Triennale di Milano.

The Valle Olona is a valley stretching from just south of Bregazzana, a hamlet of Varese, to Castellanza in northern Italy. Carved by the Olona River, from which it takes its name, the valley formed during the Riss glaciation due to the erosive action of a glacier descending from Lake Lugano. Over subsequent centuries, the Olona River partially filled the valley's alluvial zones with gravel and sand, and later, through repeated flooding, deposited substantial sediment that now supports diverse plant life. The Valle Olona typically features a valley floor devoid of settlements, except for Castegnate (one of two hamlets of Castellanza, located at the valley's outlet) and the hamlets of Gornate Olona, namely Torba and San Pancrazio. Farther north, one of the last inhabited areas is the Mulini di Gurone, which also hosts a dam designed to protect downstream settlements from Olona River floods. Scattered across the valley floor and nestled among numerous wetlands and broadleaf tree forests that cloak the surrounding slopes are remnants of abandoned industrial complexes and several water mills along the Olona, once vital to local economies. The valley also encompasses the route of the Valmorea railway, once abandoned but now repurposed as a cycling and pedestrian path between Castellanza and Castiglione Olona. Part of the line was refurbished to accommodate a tourist train between Malnate and Mendrisio until 2013. Plans are underway for the Ciclovia Olona Lura, a 165 km loop connecting the valley to the Lura stream along the European EuroVelo 5 route.

Gornate-Olona (Gornà in the local dialect of Lombard language) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Milan and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southeast of Varese. As of 31 December 2015, it had a population of 2,243 and an area of 4.8 square kilometres (1.9 sq mi).Gornate-Olona borders the following municipalities: Carnago, Caronno Varesino, Castelseprio, Castiglione Olona, Lonate Ceppino, Morazzone, Venegono Inferiore.

Torba Abbey, otherwise Torba Monastery (Italian: monastero di Torba, abbadia di Torba) is a former Benedictine nunnery in Torba, a frazione of Gornate Olona, Lombardy, Italy, in the Castelseprio Archaeological Park. The buildings are part of a list of structures associated with "Longobards in Italy, Places of Power (568–774 A.D.)", that is dating to the Lombard era of the early middle ages. The abbey was entered on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites in June 2011.

Castelseprio is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Milan and about 11 kilometres (7 mi) south of Varese, bordering the municipalities of Cairate, Carnago, Gornate-Olona and Lonate Ceppino. The main centre, formerly known as Vico Seprio (a name still in informal local use) is near the historically significant ruins of the ancient and medieval city of Castelseprio, which are today in an archaeological zone open to the public at the normal hours. The site is most famous for the Byzantinesque frescos in the small Church of Santa Maria foris portas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. The modern village of Castelseprio has a population of 1,276 and area of 3.9 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi).

Tradate is a city and comune located in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It is located 15 kilometres (9 mi) from the city of Varese (the province's capital), and according to the 2018 census Tradate's population was 18,983. It received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on January 28, 1958. The mayor is Giuseppe Bascialla. The city hosts the Fisogni Museum of the Petrol Stations, awarded by Guinness World Records for the biggest collection in the world of fuel pumps, and the Frera Motorcycle Museum.

The Parco della Pineta di Appiano Gentile e Tradate ("Tradate and Appiano Gentile pine forest park") is a nature reserve in Lombardy, Italy. Established in 1983, it covers the eponymous pine forest in northwestern Lombardy, between the provinces of Como and Varese, stretching over 4,800 hectares in the territory of fifteen municipalities. The Site of Community Importance of the pine forest of Appiano Gentile, part of the Natura 2000 network, is part of the park.
