Westerville South High School

Westerville City Schools serves Westerville, Minerva Park, Blendon Township, portions of Columbus, and other nearby rural areas. Though the district is situated in northern Franklin County, it also serves much of Genoa Township in southern Delaware County. Since 1997, the district has added one high school, one middle school, and two new elementary schools to accommodate a growing student population. The superintendent is Dr. John R. Kellogg (Hired in February after previous superintendent, Dr J. Daniel Good, retired.) The district is the 12th largest in Ohio. On the 09-10 state report card, Westerville City Schools were rated "Excellent with Distinction", For the 16th consecutive year, the district earned the “What Parents Want” in education designation from SchoolMatch.In 2009, the Westerville Alumni Association was formed to serve the graduates of the three current high schools (Westerville South, North, and Central) as well as the graduates of the original Westerville High School. The stated mission of the Association is to foster greater connections among the alumni community and to ensure the development and continued success of the Westerville high schools through student scholarships and teacher grants.

The Inniswood Metro Gardens (123 acres), is a botanical garden and nature preserve located at 940 South Hempstead Road in Westerville, Ohio. It is open daily from 7 am until dark without an admission fee. It is part of the Metro Parks system of Columbus, Ohio. The garden site was first established as the 37-acre (150,000 m2) estate of sisters Grace and Mary Innis. They gave their home and land to Metro Parks in 1972. The garden now contains more than 2,000 plant species, including collections of conifers, daffodils, daylilies, hostas, and theme gardens (Biblical, herbal, medicinal, rose, and woodland rock garden). Plantings include peony, bearded iris, daylilies, and naturalized daffodils. Woodland trails are lined with wildflowers.

As a school district library, its geographic boundaries are defined by the Westerville City School District (Franklin County, Ohio) which straddles both Franklin County and Delaware County. All Ohio residents can apply for a Westerville Public Library card. As of December, 2014, the library had 118,720 registered borrowers, circulated 2,102,171 items and saw 81,475 people attending library programs and events with total operating costs of $6,567,375.

The Westerville High School - Vine Street School is a historic school in Westerville, Ohio. It was built in 1896 by the Columbus architecture firm of Yost and Packard. The high school is an example of Romanesque Revival architecture.The building was opened to the public on during a grand ceremony on March 19, 1896. Today, the school is referred to as the Emerson Magnet school, which specializes in teaching children foreign languages and cultures.

WOBN is an American college radio station owned and operated on 97.5 MHz FM by Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. The station's studio is located at 33 Collegeview Road and tower is located at Cowan Hall on the campus of Otterbein College. The station began operations in 1948 as an AM station with the callsign of WOBC. In 1968, the station's programming moved to the FM band on 91.5 FM. In the early 1980s, the station changed frequencies to 105.7 MHz - a frequency located within the current commercial portion of the FM band. In 1989, the FCC required that Otterbein relinquish the commercial frequency to make room for a new commercial station in Marysville (now licensed to Hilliard as WXZX). In 1990, WOBN-FM moved to the frequency of 101.5 MHz. In November 2008 WOBN moved once again to the present frequency of 97.5.

The Temperance Row Historic District is a historic district in Westerville, Ohio. Westerville became the headquarters of the Anti-Saloon League of America (ASLA) in 1909. In the same year, the 11-acre (45,000 m2) tract of land that would become Temperance Row was purchased by Purley Baker, general superintendent of the ASLA. Over the next fifteen years, new homes in the district were built for and occupied by the founders and leaders of the ASLA. The architecture in the district is predominantly Craftsman in style. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 2008.It is the 17th property listed as a featured property of the week in a program of the National Park Service that began in July, 2008.

Otterbein University is a private university in Westerville, Ohio. It offers 74 majors and 44 minors as well as eight graduate programs. The university was founded in 1847 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ and named for United Brethren founder the Rev. Philip William Otterbein. As a result of a division and two mergers involving the church, it has been associated since 1968 with the United Methodist Church. In 2010, its name was changed back from Otterbein College to Otterbein University because of an increasing number of graduate and undergraduate programs.It is primarily an undergraduate institution with approximately 2,300 undergraduate and 450 graduate students on the campus. The school's mascot is Cardy the Cardinal and the school is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III athletics.

Weitkamp Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Otterbein College. Donated in 1955 by Alfred Henry Weitkamp in memory of Mary Geeding Weitkamp, it is located in Westerville, Ohio (USA).

The Alkire House is a historic residence in the Columbus suburb of Westerville, Ohio, United States. Constructed during the middle of the nineteenth century and used both as a residence and as a slave-smuggling safehouse, it retains much of its original fabric, and it has been designated a historic site.

Huber Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Blendon Township, Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,604 at the 2010 census.

The Gideon Hart House is the oldest home in Westerville, Ohio, United States. Built in 1820, the home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 636 S. Hempstead Road, it was originally built by Gideon Hart on land awarded to his father for service in the Revolutionary War.Gideon Hart and family moved from Connecticut to Ohio in 1816 to take advantage of the land tract of 380 acres. The original tract went from the current land east as far as the current Hoover Reservoir. Hart was a prominent man who built multiple sawmills (due to fire destruction), orchards, farming and a sugar maple stand. He also served as a Justice of the Peace and was integral in the development of Blendon Township, much of which was subsequently incorporated into Westerville. It is now at the front of the subdivision Woodglen. Gideon Hart died in 1859 and he and other family members are buried in the Blendon Township Cemetery on the corner of Dempsey Road and Hempstead Road in Westerville. The house has seen multiple updates over the years, but much of the original structure and details are still intact. There are still burn marks on the original wood floors, imported tile around each of the three fireplaces (installed 1928), and even bark on the main support beam of the home. Most notably, the home's kitchen, which was added in the 1940s, was completely demolished and rebuilt in 2002–2003. An upstairs bathroom and closet was added to the master bedroom at this time.
